It's not just Homecoming, it's all servers. Rebirth told its users not to update to the latest AMD graphics driver. It doesn't seem to just be AMD either. I've been having graphics issues with City of Heroes since I got my current computer, but the latest Nvidia graphics driver greatly exasperated it to the point that I've been having to play remotely via Shadow PC despite having a relatively new expensive gaming computer. If only we could get the game converted to Vulkan.

Just FYI, the SSL certificate expired a few months ago, and should you risk going sans SSL, the long defunct Sanctuary server is still listed.

No problemo. Yeah, for some reason the Mids' Reborn developers haven't been adding the newest version to the website lately, only their Discord server. That's why I made this thread.

Howdy fellow villains, (and I suppose heroes). Someone on the City of Heroes sub-Reddit is looking for his former Solar Sirens SG leader on Virtue. Heard that she may have passed away recently. The player was known as Zoey Lovecraft on Virtue, and by Abbey Nex on Protector. If anyone knows anything, reply on that sub-Reddit thread, or reply here and I'll pass the word along.

I just encountered a pretty severe issue as a result of this. I played on the Rebirth server. Then I launched Homecoming. Because of a quirk with my computer, I have to reset all of my graphics settings and redo them every time I play. I changed my graphics settings like I do every single time I play... except when I clicked "Apply" the game completely froze. Sound stopped, and then a couple of minutes later the game crashed. This happened repeatedly. I tried four different times, and the game crashed all four times. On a friend's suggestion, I deleted the AppData/Local/NCSoft/CoX/shaders folder and all of the files within, and then tried launching Homecoming again. I redid my graphics settings, clicked "Apply,"... and it worked. So there appears to be some serious cross-server contamination in the game's shaders, and this seems to be becoming a serious issue with those who play on multiple servers.

Bug or not, it's been like that for nearly four years now and was raised during Page 5 beta and left unchanged.

IMO, double XP shouldn’t exist at all, and the 50% XP boost should cost ten million INF per hour at a minimum. So I see no reason to buff something that shouldn’t even exist. At the very least, a new player shouldn’t be using any XP buff beyond 25%. That just creates AE/radio babies, something we have far too much of already. As for making double XP standard, /jranger.

Corruptor. My Force Field Corruptor combined with Power Boost from Soul Mastery gives out +44% defense before the Support Radial Hybrid. Even on a 4* ASF, any more defense than that is overkill as you’ll typically have at least one Cold Dom on the team, with Barrier Destiny flying left and right. More importantly, Force Field Corruptor has higher magnitude AoE mez protection, which is more rare than defense buffs. You will also deal significantly more damage on teams. With all due respect to PK, that bible was written thirteen years ago and is no longer relevant to the game as it is due to substantial power changes and changed game strategies.

A Resistance-based secondary, such as Radiation Armor or Electric Armor, would be best. You would be more free to slot for resistance and damage without worrying about defense.

Call to Justice isn't that great. +To-hit is easy to obtain elsewhere, and for +dmg, there's always red inspirations, and it only lasts thirty seconds every six minutes. Definitely not worth staying the worst alignment for, IMO. The only alignment power worth taking is Frenzy (the villain alignment power), which is fantastic for Brutes and Dominators.

As I posted in your other thread, Excelsior is the new unofficial PvP server. I understand that there is frequent action in Recluse’s Victory, and occasionally in Siren’s Call.

Indomitable was the unofficial PvP server, but in late 2020 through early 2021, the vast majority of PvPers moved to the Excelsior shard. If you want PvP, play there.

Not every City of Heroes server is for everyone, including Homecoming. Certain recent developments (both with Page 5 and personal), have had me playing more on other servers recently. I've found one which is a better fit for me, personally. It helps that I dislike large, populated servers and much prefer small, less populated servers. More social, and less of a groupthink mentality. If you aren't happy with Homecoming, then I suggest trying another City of Heroes server. There are plenty of options. Rebirth, Thunderspy, New Dawn, Victory, Purrgatory, Asmodei, among others. Then there are others that Homecoming is best for, and that's fine too.

That’s a matter of perspective. There was a big drop off in late 2020 through early 2021, and it’s been very gradually going down since.

Welcome back! Homecoming has had a Discord server since it launched, so that’s not why. Homecoming as a whole has lost a lot of players over the past two years for various reasons, so the game, forums, and Discord server are not nearly as active as they were in 2019 and 2020. It just is what is. But Homecoming is still here, and I don’t see it going anywhere. Personally, I have mostly moved to other City of Heroes servers, but I still play on Homecoming on occasion.

Have fun. It's doable, with the right team with the right builds.
