There is already behavior like this in many street NPCs. If they come strolling up to a combat situation, they panic and run away. I am not sure how this is implemented or why it's not universal.

Beast Mastery - Summon Lions - Defense slotting issue
Shenanigunner replied to BillyMailman's topic in Bug Reports
That the OP actually seems to be written in English once again makes me appreciate the hilarious oddness of this game. -
What Character Concept Could You NOT Get to Work?
Shenanigunner replied to Lunglescrops's topic in General Discussion
No, it needed the right to NOT bear arms. -
What Character Concept Could You NOT Get to Work?
Shenanigunner replied to Lunglescrops's topic in General Discussion
I had a great one, but (1) it needed no arms and (2) it got genned. (I could have successfully argued the latter, but having arms really ruined the concept.) -
There's no question that the 3D travel powers are superior, if for no other reason because the city is so extravagantly 3D. Plus the zones that are egregiously 3D, such as Faultline, RWZ and even Boomtown. But my main, from Live and HC, is a speeder and I love it. A little jump boosting gets over most hurdles, and TP or a jump pack gets the rest. I don't feel particularly limited when running him. I can get to mish doors as fast as any flier and most jumpers, and, well, I see the city while I'm doing it.

Not sure if it's relevant, but the only time I have seen 'abandoned pets' — sometimes for hours — is around the Portal Court SG portal.

Back in a bit. I'm off to build a sonic blaster named Franz Liszt.

If you've got a list, maybe you need orthopedic shoes.

So... you use two power choices plus a freebie to avoid choosing one power? Let me guess: you're a macroeconomics major?

Good set. I've found the bonus button on my Logi mouse are perfect for travel. Small rear button, all the "go" stuff. Larger front button (easier to hit), all the "stop" stuff. With flight and SJ in particular, it's insta-go and pinpoint stops in front of the contact, mish door, unsuspecting teammate...
-
A while back, someone justified SJ as their preferred travel power because while the others got you somewhere, super jump was a mini game in itself. I heartily agree. I find all kinds of silly things to do with it whether I'm traveling somewhere or just bopping around. In general, though, my goal is to make the smoothest travel by always hitting the optimum surface.

Cure the Lost Mission from Montague Castanella bugged
Shenanigunner replied to Teppenwolfe's topic in Bug Reports
I love this mish. One of the few where even a squishie can run up to a purple boss and win. -
I hear ya. I like twiddling up a costume — and over time, I tend to build a 'combat' costume as well as a 'civilian' costume for most alts — and start with a great name and have a bit of backstory/origin in mind... but after that, I just play the game. No RP, no mad rush to endgame, just play the alt through because even after a decade and a half, I still like to. But the occasional session of silliness like rounding up all the badges in a zone just to look around, or finding all the high points in a zone to stand on, or even messing around with obscure emotes in Liberty Plaza... sure. After all, as the great philosopher Jack Elliott once put it: "It's a game. Games are meant to be fun."
-
I'm just squee about this because so, so many changes in the last year have been aimed at either the power-gamer crowd or the... I dunno "serious RP crowd" who just can't get enough colors, costume parts and so forth to Play The Right Way. This is just plain goofiness, which was always a part of the game but doesn't get enough attention these days of fierce wrangling over game technicals.

OMG... innertubes on the Winter slopes!
-
Flying innertubes. siiiigggghhhh.
-
Well, that more or less already exists. All we need is a paddle. Wait... if you are innertubing, are you up the creek without a paddle?
-
Inner tubing around any of the water courses would be fun. I wonder if it would be simple to enable movement as about half of emotes allow...?

Put me down for yes/no. For every time a foe ragdolling around is amusing, there are times it's more disturbing. Something cartoonish like a Freak Tank or MechMan can be hilarious. As you go up the scale of realism, not so much. The very realistic foe toons, especially the females, thrashing around, can be downright disturbing. If there's any easy way to limit post-defeat motion to a few seconds, I think I'd be in favor of it.

Text-Only Role Playing Inventory System
Shenanigunner replied to oedipustex's topic in Suggestions & Feedback
Seconded. That CoX supports custom character development is a wonderful plus over many other games, but anything more has to be on the player's side... this is not an intensely RP game nor a variation of Second Life. Carry a text inventory in your Description and coordinate with other RP players, maybe in an RP-focused SG? -
Well, snark aside, that's what I said. Maybe all base bases should have a full array of teleporters and one each of the basic devices. Most solo or small-group players neither want nor need anything else. It's, uh, not that hard to build such a vanilla base, though. An hour for all the basics with one "side" of transport beacons, maybe 90 minutes if you want transporters to all forty-odd(?) locations. If all that's wanted is that basic "box of tools," and not the fun etc. of building out rooms and custom spaces, a player only need to invest this hour for their entire CoX experience/duration. Or just join any open SG and get it instantly and at no cost. Or just note any of the transpo-base codes and get everything, in any theme imaginable, less maybe junk storage, for nothin'. But sure, cookie cutter basic bases. Why not?
