  1. It seems to neatly sum up the entire faction's attitude that unlimited builds at no cost should be the whole of the law. But maybe I misunderstood.
  2. So, where did custom user titles go, and why?
  3. Proposing a new reply trope: "If I can't have a BFG-9000, I don't wanna play."
  4. I think it was Cecil Adams who described D&D as the combining the thrill of reading the dictionary with the fun of double-entry bookkeeping.
  5. For good, bad and indifferent, Statesman believed in and maintained an "organic" game model. It wasn't about number-crunched, optimized max builds. You had to level, and choose, and learn, and respec and "grow" into a 40 50. I know JE is in some disrepute these days, but mostly by players who can only seem to engage a game at that "max or nothin'!" mindset. I think releasing the numbers, and all the uber-power-add-ons, and things like choosing powers because they're fabbo IO-set mules... is a net negative. Maybe a builder is somewhere in between, but it completely tramples the organic learn-and-grow aspect that was integral to the original game. Put another way, it wasn't about Winning. It was about Playing. And now we have a significant player base that is completely exasperated and annoyed at anything that gets in the way of a maxed end build "so they can play the real game."
  6. All that. The idea that no one needs anything but a dumb terminal is... a bit "but this is this week!" I've done a little software development and worked more in hw/sw integration companies (about 40 years' worth). The idea that only the current model is relevant is... exasperating. You kids.
  7. Oh, look, even tinier icons and text. Definitely what MIDS needs.
  8. IMHVO, it works fine for those who want it and incessantly clamor for it... if it's isolated from the main body of the game. A separate shard, no transfers... and it has zero impact on game balance, economics, the balance of the player community who is not obsessed with max-build end-game play, and all the other elaborately-wrought arguments about how it's just the most terribleist idear evaahhhh. But nobody listen to Zathras, so I'm surprised I'm even bothering to follow up on this again.
  9. No. A stable play shard with Insta-Level... but NOT "free everything for the click."
  10. That's my default loc, too. However, I didn't see the marker until I zoomed in to the max—it's all a jumble in that area. Mostly, I knew where the door was but couldn't remember which quadrant the pond was in... And vewy, vewy quietwy...
  11. So now you're too good to use a map? (I had to, having misplaced my mental grasp of AP...)
  12. Not a 'holiday' song, but you really have to add Tom Waits' "And the Earth Died Screaming" in there. And maybe "Hell Broke Luce."
  13. I just popped in to see what condition my Level 2 test hero was in. It's right where we left it.
  14. Seriously, hard no on this... but I am tired of the forced T1 choices with some power sets. Once I have (the new) Tesla Cage, I really don't need Electric Fence any more... but there it is.
  15. Dear sir, I like your ideas and would like to subscribe to your newsletter.
  16. Some days it's just not worth getting out of bed. 🙂
  17. Rule 1: always play a sport toon that uses hardware, so you can blame it. 🙂
  18. It's back. We're back. 'Nuf sed. But I hear every word of the OP.
  19. Ya don't say. (And please don't.) No, because that will just lead to endless clamoring to raise the Inf cap. Because, you know.
  20. I went gift-hunting in PI last night and got nothing but gray mobs (Click/Spawn/Burn/Move On). Until I got a purple mob, 50s. It's... pretty erratic. There must be some way to scale holiday mobs a little more evenly. BTW: /bind ADD "targetcustomnext base myst" You're welcome.
  21. Are all greens now called "Heal/Absorb"?
  22. Sand Witches everywhere feel validated.
  23. Not sure in this case, but there are situations where the slash commands (/optionset parameter) work — and allow extended control — when the menu items don't.
  24. "Hulk SPLASH!"
