  1. Ultimately, play what you want. But you asked for opinion, so... Darkness Affinity by far. It puts Dark Miasma to shame. It has all of the potent debuffs from Dark Miasma, with Fade and Soul Absorption. Both powers are so good.
  2. It's both. Echo: Galaxy City was made due to badges and plaques. The others are, AFAIK, due to major changes.
  3. If possible, I'd like an Echo: Mercy Island zone, yes.
  4. FWIW, the Homecoming forums has two-factor authentication. I have it enabled myself. It's not a perfect solution, but it does provide some protection as you'll ultimately be able to recover your game account if something happens. To enable it, go here. It mentions Google Authenticator, but you can use other authenticator apps. For Android, I recommend Aegis Authenticator as it is open source.
  5. To be fair, a large part of that is because of WoW. So many companies decided that any MMORPG they develop must have similar player numbers to WoW (EA, Microsoft, Funcom, Trion, to name a few), and they all failed with the exception of Final Fantasy XIV. As a result, large companies just stopped bothering. MMORPGs just aren't a popular phenomenon, especially non-fantasy ones. There's also a bit of a generational divide. None of the newer games interest me at all, partly because most of them are fantasy, a genre I strongly dislike. But also because they do have faster dopamine loops, so there's less attachment to characters. Making City of Heroes more new player friendly is an admirable goal. It will help some, but I'm not sure that it will help a lot. Older generations like what they like, younger generations like what they like. As far as gaming is concerned, there doesn't seem to be much overlap.
  6. No problem. TFs/SFs/Trials were never meant to be soloed, although most can be by particular ATs, power sets, and builds. And yeah, the Positron TFs give a bad first impression for soloing as most TFs/SFs are signature, where the mob levels are locked at the highest level of the TF/SF.
  7. Yes. TT can be used for any tram mission, including the Dr. Kahn TF. It will also work for the Market Crash Trial, but everyone on the team has to be the same alignment range for it to work in a co-op zone,
  8. The Eden Trial is some of my favorite blue side content. It's actually different. But I haven't been around Homecoming for a bit, so I asked a friend that has been playing the past couple of years, and it seems that this has been an issue since the Master of Eden Trial was added in Page 3. Just so few people run the Eden Trial that only a couple of people have complained, and those that haven't complained have shifted their strategies to go entirely ranged with flight, and use a combination of inspiration spam from their e-mail and procs to defeat the Crystal Titan. The Eden Trial is pretty clearly not working as intended. Even the regular Eden Trial seems to be instant death for Brutes, Scrappers, Stalkers, and anyone else melee with the Crystal Titan's Foot Stomp.
  9. Nice find! I looked for something like that, but I missed it. Going blind in my old age I suppose.
  10. I would flip Responsibility to Hero and Warden to Vigilante personally (Wardens break laws for the greater good like Vigilantes), but yep.
  11. Actually, it's funny. I consider the Resistance Crusader the true "evil" storyline in Praetoria, even though the game considers it technically a "hero" alignment. Power is mostly just selfishness and glory hounding. Blowing up hospitals, setting up bombs everywhere, and feeding people to Ghouls however... Those are just evil. Yeah, out of the blue side ATs, Blaster and Controller are my favorite. Controller solely because of Darkness Affinity, which is so good. I'd love it on Corruptors and Masterminds, although I realize that it will never happen.
  12. This. It's not that I play red side and gold side exclusively because I prefer being the bad guy (although sometimes it is fun, especially when I'm secretly role-playing Lex Luthor), it's that most blue side content (especially the issues 0 and 1 content), are dry and boring. Doing them is like watching paint dry. I tried doing an all blue-side solo run in 2019... and I just couldn't finish. Plus I'm biased as I much prefer what were originally the red side ATs, which is what drew me to red side back in October 2005.
  13. Yeah, the Crystal Titan is a lot harder than he used to be, even outside of Master of Eden Trial. I ran the Eden Trial with some friends a few weeks ago, not a Master of run. Just a regular ol' Eden Trial. We're all long time players, all of us playing off and on since the mid-2000s. Some are very hardcore speed runners. We got absolutely curb stomped. The Ambrosia inspirations did not seem to be nearly as effective as it used to be, as the Crystal Titan was two shotting most of us. We got team wiped three times and called it. I think part of the issue is that Crystal Titan now seems to pretty much require some form of flight to not get near-instantly defeated with his Foot Stomp, but most of my friends don't use Fly and just got pwned. It's like the Master of Eden Trial Ambrosia weakening now applies to the regular Eden Trial as well.
  14. Nope. There's a mod that turns the Praetorian gold enhancement screen to green, so I imagine that hero and villain enhancement screens can be modded to Praetorian gold. The issue is getting someone that has both the knowhow to do it and the interest. Speaking of mods though, this one may interest you.
  15. In the Homecoming launcher, click the gear icon on the upper right, go to "Homecoming," and find "Extra launch parameters:" Add -uiskin 2 That will use the Going Rogue login screen every time you logon.
  16. FWIW, while the new keybinds system does have some issues, the "key profile" setting isn't meaningless. It lets all of my new characters immediately use the Classic profile, instead of defaulting to the Modern profile and having to go change that on every character.
  17. I took a break from City of Heroes/City of Villains to go play Tabula Rasa in late 2007. I came back to CoH in late 2008 when NC decided to pull the plug on Tabula Rasa. I switched to a different server, and played red side entirely by myself, having fun soloing missions on Masterminds, Brutes, Corruptors, and Stalkers. The ITF came out around the same time, but I just ignored it as I'm not interested in the ancient past and Greece and Rome. (Sorry, it's a personal flaw, I know. I look towards the future.) After a few months of soloing red side, I made some friends. One of them introduced me to (I didn't know this at the time), probably the top speed runner on the server and one of the top speed runners in the game period. He asked me if I wanted to join them on an ITF. Having never done an ITF before, and I mostly played Masterminds, I joined on my main Mastermind at the time. He graciously didn't say anything (although I imagine others on the team were rolling their eyes), and we started. I didn't know it was a speed run, and at the time I didn't really know what speed running was. Well, needless to say... after the ITF was over, I had no idea what had happened and what I just saw. But that speed runner and the others took pity on me and taught me their ways. I went on to speed run quite a bit (although to this day I prefer steamrolling/kill most), along with leading large events on the server. I'm still friends with him and the others today, although he left Homecoming a few years ago as he accomplished quite literally everything there was to accomplish in the game at the time, and then some. He gave me his supergroup base, and everything in it when he left. I felt like Joseph Gordon-Levitt inheriting the Batcave at the end of The Dark Knight Rises. So not all "n00b" mistakes are bad. They're just learning experiences, and opportunities.
  18. Welcome (back?) to Paragon City and the Rogue Isles! Out of curiosity, what processor is your computer using, graphics card (if any), and how much RAM does your computer have? Also, you mention that it doesn't happen as often in instances. Does it happen often in very populated zones, like... say... Atlas Park?
  19. Sometimes I think that a lot of people either forgot or don't know that the game existed before Incarnates for a long time.
  20. Mob spawns are (and have been), the same on both sides. Just the mobs on red side tend to be a little more difficult. Longbow, Arachnos, and Snakes, oh my!
  21. Closed Beta used to go by Resurgence or Paragon.
  22. Wait. Wait, wait, wait. People are seriously demanding people with both Destiny and Lore Incarnate abilities slotted for the Hero's Epic story arc?!
  23. 1. This would be something better asked in the Mids' Reborn Discord server as the developers stated that they don't check the forum any longer. 2. While Mids' Reborn does start several Edge WebView2 processes, my fans are whisper quiet while running Brave Browser, Thunderbird, Signal, Tidal, and Mids' Reborn simultaneously. I suspect that it's something else kicking up your fans. Also as far as requiring 500 MBs of RAM, welcome to 2024 where Windows programs are severely bloated and memory hungry. 16 GBs of RAM barely meets the minimum these days, and rumor is that Microsoft plans to bump Windows 11's minimum specs to 16 GBs of RAM soon. I had to upgrade to 64 GBs of RAM simply because I ran out of memory just using Brave Browser, Thunderbird, Signal, Tidal, Mids' Reborn, and City of Heroes simultaneously. 3. To disable updates, Options > Configuration > Updates & Paths > Automatic Updates. Switch it to "Disabled."
  24. FWIW, the turnstile is either still broken or disabled on Brainstorm.
  25. It's both. It works fine on live, but is broken on beta. My guess is that the turnstile is accidentally disabled on Brainstorm, but that's only a guess.
