IMPORTANT: The MRB staff are aware of ALL issues I mention here and should eventually fix them. (They also added a new dev too.) It is tough running a volunteer project, because you need people with skills and free time. Anyhoo, as I discovered while doing tests to get a process for @Snarky Latest MRB download on their website is for App v3.7.11.2. Due to issues, the current active MRB Devs can't: Update the website main page. Fix some more issues with updating. The MRB Discord is a good place to get help. Here's the current Discord invite link to it for players already on Discord: https://discord.gg/mids-reborn-593336669004890113 With the current update, updating broke yet again (sigh). If you're on the next-to-latest MRB App version (including fixing the Bootstrapper): You may be able to just update in MRB via HELP > CHECK FOR UPDATES.... I know this because it worked for me before my tests.... Everyone else, there's a process I list below. It works because after my tests, it's how I reinstalled MRB to the latest. But it's not simple and needs to be understood. That process below is what I had to do to get MRB reinstalled and up-to-date after all my testing. So updating is unreliable, again. If it succeeds, it's good, but it will often fail. Prior to the last update, there was a 2-update process where the first update says it failed but it did update partly, then the second update fixes the Bootstrapper and then finished updating. But that broke, again. Right now, in very brief form, this is how to install MRB to the most current. If you don't understand what's happening here, DON'T DO IT. IMPORTANT: Safety check that your build files aren't being stored in the MRB application folder tree. I have no idea how it gets set up, because the install defaults are safe and separate. A step below is deleting all the contents of that MRB application folder tree. Which if the builds are somehow in the application folder tree, BUILDS GET DELETED. If you don't understand how to check this, I can explain it simply, but that'll take a while to do. If you're not sure of this, DON'T FOLLOW THE REST HERE. I've seen too many players get burned by this. How they got there, who knows? Download the latest MRB installer from the MRB website, or the direct link second https://midsreborn.com/ https://github.com/LoadedCamel/MidsReborn/releases/latest/download/MRB_Setup.exe Download a zip file of MRB App v3.7.15.1 and HCDB v2025.11.1232 from here: https://updates.midsreborn.com/full_updates/mids_3.7.15.1%2Bdb_25.11.1232.zip This one isn't on the MRB website because the current working devs can't change the website main page. Make sure you have both downloads okay before continuing. Uninstall whatever MRB is install on your computer. Install the latest MRB install (for App v3.7.11.2 at the time of posting). Launch MRB to make sure it runs okay but decline any updates as they will fail solid. Check the App and HCDB versions via HELP > ABOUT.... If that lists newer versions (larger numbers) that the zip, the installer was updated, hurrah! Just check for updates with HELP > CHECK FOR UPDATES and click UPDATE AND STOP! Go to the install folder for MRB and delete all contents. Open the .zip for MRB v3.7.15.1 HCDB 25.11.1232. Copy the contents of the .zip to the MRB install folder. Launch the current MRB to check it runs okay. Only if there's a newer update will an update be offered. Configure MRB how you like it. Close the MRB window to store those config changes. Only if all MRB windows are stored closed do config changes stick. Carry on using MRB.

My highlight. The HCDB version is in the MRB Window Title Bar, the one that starts "2025....". Both versions are in the About Window, which you can bring up via the Help Menu: Help > About.... That App version should be able to update to the new release today.. Help > Check for Updates > Click the Update button If that doesn't work, it'll take a while for me to write a good install script for you. @ineffablebob, last maintainer of HeroStats, hasn't been on Homecoming since 2024 January. And as I remember it, he last said it wasn't possible to make a HeroStats for current City without an API to get the information from the game client in a robust and stable manner.

How quaint. 😺 Pre-Shutdown, the Auction House without the current QoL changes was a way way WAY differently priced place. Supplies of stuff was lower. With Invention and SOs being awkward to use and Level-limited, everyone wanted IOs as they Levelled and thus Accuracy IOs. Apparently not enough were playing arcs that had Luck Charms dropped as loot. Because that one piece of Common Salvage was usually priced from a few to Tens of Millions of Inf. Rare Salvage was always in the Tens of Millions and the price went up and down a lot. PvP Recipes were much rarer and sold off-AH for prices in the Billions of Inf. Seriously, that HO rarity has a know solution: Allow HOs to be Converted. However, I've heard for some internal reasons, there are drawbacks to doing that. Sigh.

I want to avoid the Speed Pool all the time. And I love love LOVE stealth. Back in the day, I got sick and tired of missions sending me into the higher Level end of a Zone and getting ganked by the Purple-conning mobs there. Learned to run down the exact centre of streets trying to avoid aggro. And Hovering across The Hollows because that Zone used to be brutal. Back in the day, on my main, Assault Rifle/Devices Blaster, when I was L15, I was on the Old School Posi TF with others. (Back then you never Levelled higher than the max of the TF, so I was L15 throughout. The Team slowly lost members until there was just 3 of us who started the last mission. And those other 2 soon dropped off. Leaving me with a mission set to +0x3 (and back then I didn't know how to reset TF missions). It was brutal, going through that map filled with Circle of Thorns. I remember one hallway with two side bays, each with a full spawn. I couldn't aggro just one, all of them came to beat on me. Clearing that and the rest of the map,. I ran back from the Hospital in Steel Canyon to the door in Perez Park so many times. But I persevered. And I won! (No AV on the Old Posi TF helped.) My reward: A L15 Celerity Stealth Proc Recipe, my first. I've put stealth on every Toon since. I want to have at least Boss-level stealth, 55ft or more, on every Toon I have. I have used a stealth Proc in Super Speed to get that stealth (but only in PvE) and it's a pain to control a Super-Speeding Toon on an indoor map. I always take a L15 Celerity Stealth Proc in Prestige Power Surge (to make the stealth Sprint look different). If there's no stealth Power in the Primary or Secondary Powersets and it's one of the few builds I can't fit in the Concealment Pool (because the build just has to have 4 other Pools) for the Stealth Power, I will use the Celerity Stealth Proc and the Base Buff Grant Invisibility (which is only 30ft), as together they fulfill my need. Come to the Dark Side! Hide in the shadows. And sneak! Learn how to run past those damn far-sighted mobs or the ones who just ignore stealth. (I take Smoke Grenade on my AR/Dev Blaster at L47 to help deal with them.)

Welp, @Snarky, no versions from you. I'll just give you the best but briefest instructions. Alas, brief means a bunch of instructions, but I'll make every one of them simple. And testing it on my own machine. Which is taking a while because it's being a bit too "baroque". Sigh. When I get it done, I'll post it here. in a new reply.

Because of what @Maelwys posted and other things, it's almost impossible to corner items on City's Auction House. Large amounts of drops that Players post on the Auction House. Many items can be bought for Merits, which puts an upper limit on AH prices. Many items are binned together with similar items and can be interconverted within the AH. Many items (primarily Invention Salvage) are seeded into the AH at a price, prevent the trading price of those items from going above that seeded price.

@Snarky, due to complexities, several versions of MRB (Mids Reborn) back when you created this post, they couldn't update. I'm sure you're on one of those. So I'm going to walk you through fixing this. Please reply with a few items of information and I'll give you a simple step-by-step process to fix things. page 3 [FOCUSED FEEDBACK] Mastermind Archetype Adjustments
Jacke replied to The Curator's topic in [Open Beta] Focused Feedback
@Maelwys, thanks for that info on how you slot MM Henchmen and Illusion Controller Phantom Army. I've yet to push the Controller to L50, but I will revise the build. Already figured I'd want to give them ED-capped Accuracy. Their attacks all have Base Accuracy of 1.0, so to approach final 95% Change ToHit, I'd need -Def as well. It's an Illusion/Rad Controller, so there's Radiation Infection for that. Adjusting the build to have this in PA: Expedient Reinforcements Attuned Acc/RechRed, Acc/Dam, Acc/Dam/RechRed, Dam/EndRed/RechRed Soulbound Allegiance L50+ Acc/Dam/RechRed, L50 Chance for BU -
page 3 [FOCUSED FEEDBACK] New Melee Set - Sonic Melee
Jacke replied to The Curator's topic in [Open Beta] Focused Feedback
Welp, that doesn't look good. I find Kinetic Melee passable on a Scrapper as I've learned to properly use Power Siphon (which I think is KM's biggest issue, but not the only one): Have all T1, T2, and T3 attacks. Fire off Power Siphon Using those T1, T2, T3, quickly pump up the Damage Bonus (I track that in Combat Attributes). Keep hitting the mobs with a lot of Damage Enhancement. But the mechanism of Attune is even more different from what Players are used to. That will have to be explained to them. I don't like heavily using Procs in builds. So I won't be using Sonic Melee in its current form. -
If you have any Toon getting defeated at L1, you're doing something wrong. I always run the Tutorial, the ones with a Badge (different ones for Blueside, Redside, and Goldside) and only start in missions at L2. But it's not that tough, even in tougher-than-usual Goldside. Blasters have the motto "Blasters! Face-down and PROUD!" because it's so easy to get in over your head when you're shooting AoE attacks and attracting a lot of aggro. Not as bad now with Sustain Powers that give enough net Recovery and Regeneration to keep going. Any Toon can get in over its head once things start getting serious between Levels 5 and 15. So you learn how to avoid that. And have the right Inspirations to deal with emergencies and know what else to do to get out of a jam. Teaming is similar, but then it's the Team which can get in over its head. Or one or two Toons can go off on their own and bite off more than they can chew. Important to learn how to deal with these.

Noob question: crafting enhancements at level 22
Jacke replied to out51d3r's topic in General Discussion
When I level a Toon, I always want to have an up-to-date build for it at Level 50. I make builds that should Exemplar well (downgrade Combat Level to do Flashback or Task Force content like the W.S.T.'s). They should be good for Leveling. I will tweak builds when I learn more about the Toon and adjust as I'm Leveling. During Leveling, I fill in the particular IOs that are important for things like net Recovery and Mez/KB Protection, even temp slotting alternate IOs to do so. Besides that, I'm tempted to just use SOs as I have enough Influence earnings to keep them at +3 Levels every Level. Others will slot L25 or L30 Common IOs and only go for L50 IOs when L47 or higher. Because I make Exemplar-friendly builds, many IOs are Attune, so I will usually slot those somewhere between L20 to L30, when they will be as good or better. -
I think my UI is set to 100% and the font size is 12 point. I have the same issue: The "Recipes", "+", and Arrow to change between 1, 2, and 3 trays visible are very close together and it's hard to trigger 1 without hitting the others. This has been an issue since well before this Open Beta.

Well, it's obvious they're missing an essential part of the build: Snark. Without the Snark, it's just not the same. 😺

I've been on Tin Mage II Task Forces where Neuron got pulled and terminated before Bobcat was aggro'ed. What happened, @Linea?

5 Tally Reward Merit and Empyrean Merit Currency

Vault Storage is per-character. I used it pre-Shutdown to stockpile Rare Salvage as I was buying and selling a lot of Rare Salvage to make Influence back then. -
page 3 [FOCUSED FEEDBACK] Mastermind Archetype Adjustments
Jacke replied to The Curator's topic in [Open Beta] Focused Feedback
To some degree, on some changes, they have to be done in partial phases. Despite all the testing Closed and Open, to get things to where the Devs want them has to be tested in the wider arena of a Live Release. Then they hear a lot more feedback in a lot of situations that is almost impossible to do in testing. As well, to avoid doing absolute nerfs, an initial phase won't go far enough. So that follow-on phases can be absolute buffs. In the case of same-Level Mastermind Henchmen, I think things could have been more leaned into being a buff and not the mix of whatever they are now. Which is tilting into being a nerf in far too many cases. -
As I remember, the Devs have said that we'd get more Incarnate Powers when there was content of greater difficulty that needed them. I don't think adding in +5 to +7 Notoriety is going to be sufficiently that much harder to allow new Incarnate Powers. Think more like @Linea's 801 AE arcs. The tougher ones.

No idea on how difficult this would be in-game. But since Illusion Controllers and Dominators can have their Phantom Army look like they do, that should be able to be done for Masterminds..... (Now distracted by thinking about my very low Level Thugs Mastermind with clones of his rather cool costume.... 😺)

Herm.... I'm a Retired Royal Canadian Armoured Corps soldier. I also know a lot of history. The Tank has been with us over a Century and I think it's never gone 10 years but that what the particular best working mix of features, including the Required 3 of Firepower, Protection, and Mobility, has changed. Now Drone Warfare has burst upon the Battlefield. Some are saying this is finally The End of The Tank. Just as in other times and places, it's been The End of the Aerial Dogfight. Or the end of the Horse. Not so. Every Battlefield Technology that has an effective use on the Battlefield and hasn't been overwhelmingly neutralised or replaced in what it provides is still got some niche of usefulness. Every Weapon (some World War 1 troops were armed with Gladius as well as Rifles for Trench Fighting) and every War Technology. The Tank and Tanker and those who fight Tanks will continue to evolve to the form and doctrine that is most appropriate for providing Mobile Protected Firepower at the Forward Edge of the Battlefield. In the 1980's before I learned about Tanks, I learned Sneak-and-Peak Recce much as it was practiced in World War 2. Recce hasn't had the changes forced upon it as much as Tanks have, but there are changes and Recce soldiers will have adapted. Because if you don't adapt, you find out the hard way that Today's War is significantly different from what you trained for. Don't get better at fighting the Last War. Get better at fighting War as it is and as it seems to be changing. Always observe. Always be willing to consider adapting. @Diantane, I figure you honestly feel strongly about what you post. You wouldn't keep doing it so much if you didn't. What I suggest to you is your view of City of Heroes is a bit askew. I don't know why, but it's askew enough and you keep posting about askew views that don't get any respect. I suggest to you it's time, as the Infantry say after finishing an Assault upon a Position (or if they failed at the Assault too), to Suck Back and Reload (catch your breath, refill magazines, drink water, and the leaders and senior Infanteers reassess the battlefield). Play the game to have fun. Observe more. Read more here in the Forums. Especially if there's a back-and-forth. Think more. Notice who seems to be switched on about what they say. Give it time. There's many cases in Military History of being caught short by circumstance leading to strong reversals. And of those caught in those reversals reassessing and fixing things.

In Repeat Offenders, there was one good Player who, when they found out about Shutdown, quit City of Heroes and has never played it again. They went on to play DC Universe Online. After City and Star Wars: The Old Republic, the game I've played the most is DCUO as they are a good friend and I would play the game for a while. But eventually I'd end my subscription (you really have to subscribe to DCUO after getting to Level 30 to experience the Endgame) and go back to City, because City is the game that has my heart. One day they mentioned a recent paid item you could get in DCUO: I forget what it's called in DCUO (or even if it's still available), but iit's effectively an Ultimate Respec. My rememberance of DCUO is weak, but it was the equivalent of changing everything in City, including your AT and Primary and Secondary Powersets. I don't know if my friend has indulged in using it, but it is interesting that the DCUO devs at the time thought there was a market for such an item. This means it's kind of similar to what @BEASTCORE is suggesting. And as @The Trouble has pointed out, you can sort of do that via a Reroll. I have done a number of Rerolls of Toons in City. Often to change some of the AT and the Primary and Secondary Powersets. Some Toons have gone through several over the years. I've also Rerolled Toons just to change their Origin. Because the one I picked initially years ago wasn't right for my concept of the Toons. Something that now just has an effect on some texts in some conversations in some missions in the game. But I had to change the Origin to put it right. And could only do that via Reroll. Now, on the other hand, the Suggested Item of this thread is being sold partly as a massive Influence Sink, as well as giving Players something that some of them would want for some of their Toons. I've thought of ideas for new Influence Sinks too. Except Homecoming City appears to not need Influence Sinks at this moment. Pre-Shutdown, the game had gone through some Inflation, as the Supply of Inf was growing but the Supply of Stuff to spend Inf on wasn't growing as fast. As the prices of Luck Charms was in the range of 100,000's to Millions of Inf, Rare Salvage was always in the Millions of Inf, and PvP Recipes sold off-market for Billions of Inf. I assume the Inflation had reduced or near stopped, because I took note of at least the Luck Charms and the Rare Salvage and though they shifted in price over a range, that range didn't seem to creep up. On Homecoming, through methods and new features including Inf Sinks but also included Merit Purchase Possibilities (which puts ceiling on the effective Price of most items in the game) and other things like Upgrading SOs on the Enhancement Screen, Inflation has been more that vanquished, as the price of many items on the Auction House has declined over the 6+ years of Homecoming, though there still are fluctuations. Such a massive Inf Sink as suggested in this thread isn't really needed. And as @The Trouble has pointed out, you can sort of do that via a Reroll. And as I am a strong example, Players are willing to do Rerolls when they need to change unchangeable parts of a Toon.

I want to Assasin's Strike this facist turd.

I had them too (retired now). I'd say someone recruiting for an active combatant organization could be detained indeed. -
From what I've heard, @Snarky has killed his role, dead. 😺

But they are not hors de combat, unable to participate in fighting. Even under our Internation Laws of War, they would be considered a combatant. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hors_de_combat
