Affirmative, adding to that Against All Odds for a whole lot of +DMG. Between SD and AAO you'll be able to steamroll most +4x8 groups. The only weakness /Shield has vs SR is it's defense debuff protection being lower but it makes up for a lot more offense.

Your best bet is to post a build and then have people critique it.

The end game build is good for high and low level teaming as well as soloing. It is basically a one man band. The el cheap-o build is meh at soloing and good at teaming.

Why go that route vs purely ranged? More comprehensive than ranged defense. Your best attack chain is going to be blaze / blazing bolt / Energy punch (which will put you in the 450-500DPS range) so you are going to need to be in melee at least a little. And AoE especially from AV's and GM's is a thing. S/L defense along covers a massive amount of attacks as so many (like fireball, Ice bolt, energy blasts, smite, TK blast etc) all have S/L components and defense will always check your highest values. remember that manoeuvres on a scrapper only adds 2.28% def (base) vs 3.5% (base) on a defender. If you have a spare power slot for it go for it but it may be easier to add the def somewhere else... True but this build doesn't use any set IOs so more defense is always good.

Ha! Calibrated Eye should be a temporary power. I need to start teaming more lol. I've been soloing a bunch just reading the lore for all of the missions. I forgot how good some of these writers were.

I'd say add the PvP IOs in there, you can get them now using reward Merits. I was able to get both 3% DEF IOs after running a few missions arcs and TFs.

Any reason for no enhancements?

I moved a few powers around, I dropped hover for combat jumping to put you at the soft cap defense for all three positions and added some recharge bonuses.
