I like the ones that add defense and recharge. I also like the ones that make me strong and pretty.

Dark/Shield but then again I'm biased.

Is that an option now? I'm not at 50 yet so I can't see them in the vendor.

I'd like to have the option to buy SIOs will reward merits. It would allow solo players like myself the option to buy them through mission completions.

Another excuse for not using shield, it doesn't always fit the concept.

Rad/WP for -def and survivability. I'm not sure which of the new power sets have -regen but you're gonna need that too.

You have more defense than you actually need, 45% is the softcap but a little more can't hurt to cover for any debuffs. You can switch out some of those defense bonuses for something else e.g. recharge, recov, regen, etc... Looks great though.

Yes, a shield/dark tank does well. It's not as defensive as some other primaries like Stone or WP but it does well.

Making a horrendous Ice/ice blaster and having someone tell me that I was a terrible blaster for not six slotting with 3 acc and 3 dmg in every power. Then ED hit and I had the last laugh/face plant.

Are you using this build for PvE or PvP?

Updated cheap-o build. I'm using merit rewards and ae tickets to buy the unique IOs so that's bringing the overall INF cost way down. Rare salvage is expensive :(. I picked up superspeed and hasten and added steadfast protection back because I forgot to include it so that brings this build to 39% def which isn't too bad. Shield takes significantly more investment than WP or SR does in terms of pure survivability, not particularly great at PvP, can't be paired with Katana or Spines, and like you noted has some end issues until late in the game. Even paired with DM it still has end issues lol.

I think this would also be a good time to revamp the set entirely. SS blows outside of Rage and Footstomp.

Finally hit 35 and just go shield charge and I cannot stop mowing everything down. Fully saturated Soul Drain + AAO + SC = dead mob

Add another vote for WP.

I think that's the % you need for perma hasten with three slots.
