  1. True enough. This is why I tend to stay out of the build discussions...However I stand by Force Bolt not being totally useless... Force Bolt certainly has it's utility. It's a button labeled "Push to make fall down go boom" which is extremely handy for any remotely squishy class.
  2. I've never been in an Incarnate Trial that didn't have at least one MM. Maybe it's the server you're on?
  3. I kind of assumed that your character was sort of flying by the seat of their pants with that sort of thing. "I dunno much about alchemy, but I know the 'chem' part, and I'm pretty sure I can Google the rest" was how I rationalized my science heroes dealing with "magical" mission objectives. Seems the world of CoH has at least a baseline level of magical and super-tech knowledge as widely available knowledge with a bit of digging.
  4. Adamastor is Banished Pantheon, though. And summoning him in Echo: Dark Astoria is pretty easy. But otherwise, I agree. More monsters need to be spawnable in a way controlled by players.
  5. The issue lies in the fact that each and every icon in the game exists as a premade texture file, so in order to change out icons, you'd need to actually change what texture the power references, and I don't know if there's any way to dynamically set the icon for a power in that fashion.
  6. I just want to thank the devs for bringing back the only MMO I ever liked, and even continuing to update and improve it. I love the Sentinel, I like Sudden Acceleration helping ease KB issues, and I look forward to seeing what lies beyond the horizon for us.
  7. I think Trickshooter had a suggestion for a magnetic support set on the old Pre-sunset forums. I'd dig it up, but I'm at work and they block the wayback machine.
  8. I dunno about removing them, but boy could they use a texture overhaul and recoloring. IMO they're among the ugliest maps.
  9. 1. there should be two different channels, not one mixed channel. 2. sort of. blueside is a set of content that was connected to heroes originally, now there's no limit on who can access it. same for redside. 1/2 my characters are villain ATs, most play blueside most of the time (but can switch to redside content in seconds by talking to one npc). specific example: my brute has never been redside. my defender has done considerable redside content. When we say Hero or Villain, we mean Blueside/Redside.
  10. My proposal: Each power instead calls a random power of equivalent level from any other blast set when used.
  11. I don't think they totally ignore IOs, but I think they prefer not to worry too much about IOs unless they cause an obvious problem with them. To take an example from Magic: the Gathering, with most Standard-legal sets they design, they are designed for Standard format. They will try to consider their ramifications in other formats (How will this affect Modern, Legacy and Vintage? Should we make this quirky Rare a Legendary for EDH? etc. etc.), but those other formats are a secondary concern. The powers are designed with IOs in mind, but they aren't balanced for IOs. Non-IO play is what the sets are chiefly balanced around, at least in theory, so that the game can be balanced in a way that allows those that can't or don't want to optimize their build with IOs can still play through the majority of the content. The depth of the IO system is there mostly to appeal to Spike (and to some extent Johnny) players, while the powersets have to have appeal and playability for anyone who wants to roll a character with that set, from casual players to die-hard optimizers.
  12. No, this game was written in C++ which doesn't support cheetahs. Cheetahs can only be coded in WEEQEE, a programming language invented six months ago specifically to enable coding cheetahs. WEEQEE does not currently support the color blue. Well, the newest standard has a workaround that uses negative yellow values, but it's unstable.
  13. An interesting idea, but I don't know if the tech exists for enhancement slots being gained outside of leveling up.
  14. It will help once some more usable tools are devised for modifying the game. I've been tearing my hair out trying to figure out how to even unpack the bin files once I've gotten them out of the piggs.
  15. I added another sample powerset, with something that I think jack_nomind will appreciate. ;) I'm still working on trying to set up the server to prototype on, though. Even with the VM, setting it up is a huge PITA and it's one step forward, two back. The Ouro discord has been a big help, though.
  16. Well, you'd have to rewrite the timer code to apply to macros, and you'd also have to have that code dynamically detect any powers that macro executes, and have it simultaneously track the recharges of powers and map them to the recharge time of the macro, and then you'd have to make rules for which recharge time to show for macros with multiple powexecs (I guess "longest remaining recharge" would make the most sense). I've not seen the code for any of that, so "Standard Code Rant" applies here, but at its face, that looks like a lot of work for little payoff. It's certainly a neat idea, but just seems a bit far-fetched
  17. I'm sorry, Sally, but that badge is just too shiny to ignore.
  18. So is your suggestion we don't address any issue unless we can address all the issues? We should start at the worst example and go from there. Do you have an in-game example that is more appropriate here? My suggestion is don't expect every piece of writing you don't like to be revised to your individual subjective standards. Addendum: Understand the difference between "a problem/issue" and "something I don't like". But they aren't talking about "every piece of writing." They're talking about this one specific arc. One in which the player assists a man in murdering a woman for rejecting his advances. A thing that happens in actual real life with alarming frequency, but generally does not happen in the other direction. And not only do they willingly participate, the player is at no point asked to consider it critically or given the option to say anything substantively critical about the situation. You just spend the entire arc going, "Haha, you crazy. Sure, I'll help you blow up your co-worker, ya wacky guy." I mean, there's evil evil, and gross evil, and helping some creep murder somebody because they dared exercise their own sexual agency and said "no" to them is gross evil. And they're not even really saying anything beyond "Hey, this all is hella gross, could we rewrite it so it's not hella gross?"
  19. I wonder if it's not counting Vigilantes or Rogues?
  20. So, like using the phasing tech to separate players between PvE and PvP within the zone? I can't say for sure that it's doable, but it sounds like it might be. Probably want to set it with a contact in the "home base" areas of the zone so it's not as abusable.
  21. Plus it double dips the ranged damage powers to have the 3 pets pool attacks in place. If you've got a full set of secondary ranged powers to pick from, why pick the filler attacks from the primary? Why not replace the attacks for that AT then? I'm sure you could probably fit in some control or support powers into those slots that are thematically appropriate without being overpowered or stepping on Defenders and Corruptors. They only have three, generally kinda piddly attacks. For example, replace the laser attacks in Robotics with powers from Traps or Devices, replace the attacks from Necromancy with powers from Dark Miasma, and so on.
  22. I added the JoJo picture after I realized that Stand Users are pretty much this Archetype in a nutshell. Once I can get my damn VM up and running I'm going to actually start prototyping it so I can maybe show it to the HC devs eventually.
