  1. Maybe a used mount would be good enough? Maybe a craigslist purchase (is craigslist even still a thing?).
  2. I like the look, @Sakura Tenshi. Definitely gives him that silver fox look, and a certain DILFy quality at that. I approve!
  3. Oh, yeah, absolutely. The jankiest! Especially with Pets utterly failing to navigate base terrain (only made much worse with freebuild Bases). But I'm not talking about any kind of official gameplay modes like that. I'm speaking in terms of allowing the ultra-creative Base Builders of this community to invent entirely unique mini-games in their bases. The mind boggles at the possibilities!
  4. . . . I mean . . . I'm not -against- that, if everyone knows what they're getting in to in advance and consent . . . Hell, that could open the door for some REALLY, REALLY fun gameplay in bases!
  5. Then no, you didn't get it. I know there isn't any "hop" command. I was trying to articulate something else by using a theoretical "hop command" as a stand-in as I lack the technical terminology to accurately express what I'm trying to get across.
  6. Tumbleweed Travel! Rolling rolling rolling, keep those doggie going.
  7. Oh, geez. Where to start. Probably here: https://forums.homecomingservers.com/topic/19655-weekly-discussion-53-how-to-increase-villain-population/ With additional reading: https://forums.homecomingservers.com/topic/18738-sciroccos-patron-arc-encapsulates-everything-i-dont-like-about-redside-writing/?tab=comments#comment-208906 The short of it: There are a lot of reasons, some of which could theoretically be addressed, while others just boil down to personal preferences that are unlikely to change. And with this being a social game, the more players Blueside, the fewer players for Redside (and yellowside), since multiplayer elements require players to be in places where they're able to team up. But, for what it's worth, there are those amoung us which are dedicated to the Redside. Myself (mostly) included.
  8. Yeah, we're definitely not on the same page. Sorry, I'm not sure how else to try and explain what I have in mind.
  9. And since I realize I wasn't explicitly clear about this: DO NOT TURN FIRST WARD IN TO A PVP ZONE! I used the term "PvP" only in the context that players could potentially be working against one another in the context of some of them seeking to destroy the Seed as a Seed, while others strive to get the Chrysalis, and others still try to get the full Avatar. Creates some tension within the context of the game's narrative conceit, but isn't so grievous as to make it true PvP. And to ensure that things don't completely get out of hand with potential griefing, make it so the rooftop Hormone Dispensers are only available during the veil of night, or something, so there's a distinctly "safe time" to go for the Seed without interference.
  10. I almost wonder if this might be an opportunity for an asynchronous form of PvP . . . Allow players (particularly Villains, but technically anyone) to opt to MATURE the Seed of Hamidon! Make it challenging; as challenging as or more challenging than taking down the Seed as it stands right now. Have the opposition come in the form of teams of united First Ward Factions (after all, if ANYTHING could cause all of those myriad groups to stop killing one another, it would be to put a halt to a bunch of psychotic ne'er-do-wells bent on strengthening Hamidon's control of the region). If the team can manage to pull of their task (probably something along the lines of aligning some Devouring Earth Growth Hormone Dispensers on the rooftops of the various towers in the Zone), then the Seed of Hamidon lands and enters a chrysalis. The Villains* also get themselves some Merits (5?) for a job evilly done. Players can then attack the Chrysalis to try and gain a slightly bigger Merit reward bonus, as the Chrysalis starts to spawn Devoured and Swarms to protect itself. If the Chrysalis hatches, then the Zone is treated to a VERY powerful Avatar of Hamidon, and the aforementioned chance for a Hami-O is awarded, or something equivalent in value. More ways for players to meaningfully interact with the game world is ALWAYS a positive.
  11. I'm having some difficulty understanding here, or we're on very different pages with this. I apologize if my lack of adequate terminology is causing the disconnect here. From my understanding, the part of the game which recognizes device inputs seems to be separate from the functional interaction of character movement. If I type in ++up and leave the game alone for twenty minutes, the autolog feature kicks in and boots me back to the login screen. That suggests that the "++up" isn't being registered as a continuous active input, but rather as some function toggling a "jumping" state. Regardless of that, and regardless of how existing input/function interactivity operates, what would we actually be looking at in terms of jury-rigging something behind the scenes which instructs the player-character to exhibit things like movement from server-issued operations? For example, Knockback doesn't interrupt our typing, but it does forcibly move our character. Repel, perhaps, works as an even better example, as it still allows for user input to have a modicum of control. So, if my initial plan is entirely impossible with the engine, then what about just having a constant source of Repel being applied to the character from below? We've seen that the Homecoming Team have developed and deployed some directional Knockback and Repel mechanics as of late, even if they are of a certain level of jankiness.
  12. The Flier lands, at least. More like the Rikti Warships. I rarely see folks tackle those either.
  13. Is the code really that messy that movement commands can't operate without input? That doesn't seem right at all. After all, ++up, ++forward, and all of those commands work and allow me to type. In fact, I make a point of using those commands to get around while typing. If I was originally unclear, I'm suggesting a new form of movement be created. Something -like- "hop" To describe in a roundabout way: "/++hop" would cause the player-character to continuously make the smallest increment jump height at a interval which would give the effective consistency of hovering while used with a Jump Pack. Except the user isn't actually issuing that command. The Glide Power is, and the Glide Power effectively operates as a non-cooldown-linked Jump Pack.
  14. We wrapped up another chapter of Masquerade and are resuming Rogue Trader again. Thanks to @HunterKid for joining us! Other interested parties may still get in touch to learn more.
  15. See, I figured it was the fact that it was a flying Giant Monster, and there are a number of Powers which only work while on the ground that simply have no value in the event. ie: Too much of a pain in the ass.
  16. Emergency Medical Hologram? Why yes. Yes. Robert Picardo IS fantastic. Did we ever get a look at him in Star Trek: Picard? I don't recall seeing anything.
  17. I was thinking the other possibility would be making something which triggers a series of short +up commands, giving the player-character a bobbing movement as they mostly hover in place vertically.
  18. Kind of missing the point. No. Our imagination doesn't have to stop there. But we -want- characters who fit the paradigm of Natural which we're describing here all the same. It's a disservice when the value of that paradigm is discredited with the kind of tangent that suggests we just play a space alien messiah so we can have a Fire Blaster be Natural. Of course we can have such a character. That's not the point. The point is fulfilling the need to cover the thematic gap that exists. And really, this debate should happen somewhere else. THIS thread is for Steampunkette's specific Aura of Authority.
  19. The "halo aura" effects of Inspirations and Leadership Toggles come to mind.
  20. I figure it would be fairly low-key visuals. Best way to reinforce it as a Natural Power Set. Of course, customization is the name of the game, so the Powers should obviously have flashier versions too. Probably lots of use of emotes like raising one hand triumphantly in the air, or the ;attack or ;point emotes. Surveillance from the Bane Spider Set could also be a good example of an animation for this Set.
  21. I agree wholeheartedly that Natural is a severely under-represented Origin, and appreciate any efforts to improve the situation! Thanks for this, @Steampunkette!
  22. http://www.heroesofmightandmagic.com/heroes5/sylvan_intro.shtml Sorry. Had to. But back to Back (Alley Brawler), yeah. It would be nice to see him elevated a little. He's a pretty significant character in the lore, and unless it's been decided that he's looking to retire sitting out back in Argosy, then it might be worthwhile to have some more character development for him. He's one of the few signature characters I actually care about Blueside.
  23. That's definitely an issue. The LFG Search (and Global Channel Search, and Super/Strike Group Search) could use an overhaul, frankly. But prior to that overhaul, it would be nice if cross-faction searching became an option, as soon as possible.
  24. I can't speak to that, @RikOz. As true as that is, I never heard that particular phrase until Homecoming. Any ideas when that Kings Row saying started showing up?
  25. The planning committee for the 2021 Pride event is coming together soon to discuss plans for this year's event. Details such as date, time, and place are pending. If anyone has any feedback from last year or suggestions for this year, please get in touch with @BluWitch, @Bastille Boy, or myself ( @VileTerror ).
