  1. One of the GMs -did- say something to that effect in the Admin channel on Everlasting, @Glacier Peak. Specifically in regard to the stream that @GM Tempest was doing.
  2. Titan Weapons had a Power Set Revamp here: https://forums.homecomingservers.com/topic/24367-patch-notes-for-november-24th-2020-issue-27-page-1/
  3. Back when I used to use Steam, and Legacy/Retail City of Heroes was a thing, that's exactly what I did. Logged over 5,000 hours! . . . because I just left the client running on the login screen for days on end. Then again, 5,000 hours doesn't seem that unreasonable either: https://forums.homecomingservers.com/topic/14432-youve-spent-a-total-of-1343-hours-on-patrol/
  4. I was actually just about to mention that, @pjmoyer! That even seems to be the case with the official picture: I was standing just to the left of the shot, and there were at least three times as many people rendering next to me than what this image shows. That's unfortunate.
  5. Awesome. Lock Experience Gain and taunt people with your remarkable personal restraint! Also, Psi/Shield Stalker? Niiice.
  6. We bit the bullet. My spouse and I paid for it on Youtube after watching some clips online. We became determined to find out what they were all about.
  7. Sorry to get so off track from the original topic, but I couldn't think of anything that was still appropriate to it, and considering so much of this thread circled around to "generational gaps," I thought I'd share something in that vein which might help broaden some perspectives. You're welcome, @KauaiJim. It's nice to know it was appreciated. Likewise, I don't always agree with Michael's personal views or conclusions when he expresses them in some videos, but facts are facts. And the more information our little ape brains can absorb, the more analysis and synthesis of new ideas we can perform. I encourage everyone to just keep learning. Vsauce, Mindfield, and Kurzgesagt provide a lot of interesting information and -actually cite their sources!- Big kudos to them for that.
  8. *glances back and forth, then quietly deposits the following video before scampering off again* https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LD0x7ho_IYc
  9. . . . I mean, there's the whole Mechwarrior/Battletech series/franchise, and there's World of Tanks . . . Anyone know of any submarine games where you customize your loadout in a similar way before battling it out with other players? That has some appeal to me.
  10. Yeah, changing my idea slightly. Forget "Disbeliever." Rename the Badge for attacking Sally to "Who's The REAL Monster? (You Are)"
  11. A "friend?" What's that, @KaizenSoze? Where do you unlock them in-game, and are there any level requirements?
  12. @Dark Dove Many other posters could learn a thing or two from you. BRAVO! in that very thoughtful and helpful post.
  13. So, while posting https://forums.homecomingservers.com/topic/28866-homecoming-code-of-conduct-update-may-13th-2021/page/4/?tab=comments#comment-362042 it dawned on me that it could be pretty handy to have an official account or three made up: @Homecoming Team (and @Dev Team and @GM Team). These accounts would then have their alerts shared to all members of those respective teams, allowing general tagging for the purposes of asking for input or review. I realize there's a "Report" feature which can sort of be used in this capacity, but I think it would be better to try to delineate that for post moderation purposes (moving, splitting, hiding threads, et cetera). Naturally, there is a risk of forum users overusing such account tagging, but I figure that particular risk is for the Homecoming Team to judge and gauge the severity of.
  14. uh, @Homecoming Team (actually, there's an idea . . . ) To be clear, we're supposed to be branding this server as: Homecoming: City of Heroes Right? I noticed the recent Massively articles are still doing it the other way around. I don't know how much of a sticking point this kind of brand distinction is, but I just wanted to clarify.
  15. I'm not sure it's quite an accurate reflection to examine Star Trek as "the original MCU" for either franchise. Serialization and continuity between independent pieces of media wasn't new for either of them, although they've both certainly examples of MASSIVE success stories (for good reason). But books and comic books were doing this sort of thing too. There are some book series published in the late 1800s and early 1900s which spawned the original Creative Commons (if I'm remembering correctly, which I admit I may not be). Pulp fiction where different writers would take characters established by their peers and continue the stories or have call-backs in new books. And I wouldn't be at all surprised if this goes all the way back to ancient mythologies. Those were probably the original-original MCUs of their time. Taking characters and weaving them in to new stories for education or entertainment purposes. But really, I think it's worth getting in to pulp serials, if only for a look at how even a lot of the things we credit comic books with "inventing" were already well established decades before. BE WARNED: Political views expressed in books from that era are often going to come across as incredibly offensive with a modern lens. H.P. Lovecraft in particular had some great ideas, and some /really/ not-great-at-all ideas. (Which is a subject for another thread . . . which I'll actually start before posting this one, so I can link: https://forums.homecomingservers.com/topic/28962-lovecraft-country/ ) Also also, since Star Trek: https://forums.homecomingservers.com/topic/14088-star-trek/
  16. ... is fantastic! It's thoughtful, punchy, gory, pulpy and adventurous, true to the source material but with a modern reflection on the serious issues of the author and culture which spawned his views, and even a little educational (the funeral of Emmett Till and the Tulsa race massacre weren't included in my history classes in the Canadian school system, so I appreciated the show bringing them to my attention). I highly recommend it! Criticisms have included that the series is "uneven" between episodes. I'll give them that, but I don't consider it a criticism. It's really a loving demonstration of appreciation to the media which inspired the whole series: Pulp and sci-fi stories of the early 20th century. It's batshit bonkers by the end of the series, but that's the POINT of it. That's what stories were like from that particular genre.
  17. Ah, but did you -specify- your porn of choice? See, I've been going down this particular path for years, but google still can't get it quite right. I block all ads, but my spouse wasn't for the longest time, so she was ending up with a weird mix of targeted ads for both herself and I. There was a two week period where the ads were all really awkward celebrity and amateur photos of a "spicy" persuasion . . . without any text or anything to denote what they were actually advertising. We never worked up the courage to actually click them, but it was funny to watch google struggle so desperately to figure out what we actually liked before we finally pulled the plug and installed an ad blocker on her computer too.
  18. Has this one been posted yet? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yD-ffhvefsw For that matter, how many repeats have there been in this thread? It's quite a few long . . .
  19. To be clear, I think this is kind of an amusing development, and it does require a little exploration to even find it. But it may be worthwhile to either hide it more completely if you would not like regular forum users to find it, or to give an official explanation for it. I figure it was Jimmy's way of "staring daggers" at things which were annoying, but not actually actionable. Like Luminara's nipple-grimace picture.
  20. It's really not that likely that a court case could do that much damage to the members of the Homecoming Team. As I understand it, they're a limited liability corporation for exactly that reason. But it could still result in a costly legal battle which would require that they either beg the community for help with the funds, or just pull the plug on the server. So, yeah. Still not ideal, and it's just easier to say to the community "here are the rules, we'll enforce them." I know I criticize a lot, but in this scenario, the Homecoming Team is doing the best they can. We ought to support them in it.
  21. My spouse bought me these for my birthday recently: I'm going to guess it was either Cipher or Widower who got Jimmy the new forum-knife, though.
  22. Alternatively, reduce the minimum spawn level for Weakened Hamidon down to 35 as well.
  23. The more I think about it, the more I like it. Could do something like: /bind D "petcomall follow defensive$$petcompow sold goto 180:5$$petcompow spec goto 315:5$$petcompow mando goto 45:5"
