  1. Ditch PvP, problem solved. 😉
  2. yeah, as much as I wish it were... yeah. 😞
  3. Okay. How would you like to see Tanks improved, within your perception of their intended role and the technical constraints (which are significant) of the engine, if not by improving their damage dealing (in some way)?
  4. I assume that the -damage went hand in hand with the -speed, in the devs' minds; you are hard, but your punches aren't, because you're slowwwwww. (This was 2003; tankers aren't supposed to do damage, they just stand in front and taunt and get beat on, and Stone is the ultimate expression of that in this game.)
  5. True, thanks for the reminder. It would pretty much have to be another attack, and I admit I'm drawing a blank at the moment.
  6. No, (I assume) they want you to choose between the work of recouping your investment, or the greater convenience of simply discarding it (and then having to grind for it again on another character). Or at least that's how it works in a for-profit MMO - make you pay for it one way or another, in time and effort or straight up cash money. The devs here may be willing to cut you more slack.
  7. Good question. I honestly don't know; I'll have to think about that some. My first thought and selfish wish would be for something to plug the Psi Hole, but that's both thematically inappropriate and probably even more of a sacred cow than this power.
  8. It strikes me as pointless complication and/or "busy work" - like the I0 devs decided, got to keep them pecking a button, so they feel like they're doing something and/or so they don't just set up a macro (or a drinky-bird 😛 ) and walk away. That's the only reason or justification I can think of. I wish we could just simplify it out of the game and powerset completely.
  9. But why have a separate power to do that, whether click or toggle? Why not bake that into the set's numbers, and have it Just Work?
  10. It was bugged. It was a known bug, that they just never got around to fixing. You want it to go back to the bugged version because you know how to exploit it. No thank you.
  11. No nerfs for any set ever, just keep buffing all the others! Bring the loudness war to CoX!
  12. And I think that if you're turning it into a (essentially "always on") toggle, you might as well go that step further and just take it out and rebalance the set to not require/depend on it. I mean, if it's always going to be on unless you're mezzed or out of end, it might as well be an inherent. (All of the above is IMO, naturally.)
  13. Strongly suspect that the inconvenience of that is meant to act as a deterrent to doing just that, at least routinely. If you want to do that, they (probably) want you to work for it.
  14. The flipside of this is actually one of the reasons I have never liked Rage: (at least one of) my tanker(s) doesn't get mad, or at least not chest-beating, vein-popping furious, and certainly not in every fight. But I'm told over and over, by the numbers and people who seem to love this power, that if he doesn't, he's performing below par, and that isn't something that should be fixed - no, that's right and proper and I need to get with the program.
  15. When I say "basic", I mean it. Stuff like "kill the Sapper first". This is not a high bar we're talking about here. In practice, it mostly meant that the most difficult/special mob in any group died maybe five seconds ahead of the rest of the spawn. Heck, I actually found it a little frustrating, because on at least one of those runs I was trying to play a Rad/Rad, and everything died far too quickly to apply any of my debuff anchors. It was actually a lot like my more recent experience with Warframe, where it's often all I can do just to keep up and try to do my share of the killing. Again, this was with SOs, and before Incarnate powers were even in the game. That's just what CoH is/was like, once you get out of the low levels where you're bottoming out on end (especially before inherent Stamina) and not everyone has a full attack chain. That's part of what makes it fun.
  16. No, it's that you rolled in an apple of discord and are now claiming your intentions were simple concern, and leaving the burden of investigating/proving your claims on the other party(s).
  17. Back on live, I would often run missions with my friends, playing characters who were a mix of ATs, with no Incarnate powers at all - because they hadn't been invented yet - and nothing but IOs or sometimes just SOs. The pace of killing "arresting" progress was such that it inspired the term "spawnmower". Full teams of experienced players with fully-leveled characters tossing around cones and AoEs, buffing each other, debuffing the enemy, and exercising even basic strategy, target selection, etc have always been extremely effective in this game. Maybe not "+4x8" effective, but I hope you get my point. Miscalculations and even wipes do occur sometimes, but this is not a game where the group has to stop and take a knee (and buff up again, regain mana, etc) after every room.
  18. The screen is filling up fast. 😕 I submit that it can't practically show all the information some people want; there's not enough room, and for most players (IMO) it's too much. Still IMO, I would say that if you want or need to keep track of that stuff, keep doing it how you are now. I'd much rather keep the login screen as simple as possible.
  19. Agreed to all of the above, basically.
  20. One of the persistent complaints is that the added defenses from many IO sets do make support superfluous, particularly sets like Force Field. Most of these issues can be traced back to IOs changing the game significantly from what was possible with SOs, and the game still being balanced around the latter, by necessity.
  21. I am so tired of everyone chasing Perma-EVERYTHING in this game. "Let's take these things that were balanced by being up only SOME of the time, and make them ALL OF THE TIME."
  22. You have absolutely no concept of "game balance", do you? Just an endless repetition of "it's not hurting anyone lol"
  23. tl;dr we've got (at least) two posters in this thread who enjoy their power fantasy just as it is and don't want it reigned in in any way.
  24. Rage fits Brutes, yes (IMO). Tankers, not so much (also IMO). Unfortunately, we're about ten #%@&ing years too late (if not fifteen) on that bad call by the Devs, and now we seem to be stuck with it. We can't simply take it out and replace it with something that makes more sense, so we're stuck with patching it. Somehow.
