  1. If I recall correctly, the Darkness Affinity was added recently before shutdown. I don't remember why they changed the name "Darkness Affinity". However, I do remember why they changed some of the abilities because both Darkness Affinity and Darkness Control were added at the same time. It wouldn't make sense for both powersets have hold/immob.
  2. [snipped] I suppose you can replace Choking Cloud with Bonfire to help Hot Feet by "trapping" them instead of running away from Hot Feet.
  3. I'm really excited to try out Ill/Traps but I can't think of a concept. ;( Maybe I should go /Cold instead. :/
  4. That build looks fine to me, plenty of recharge and resistance. I found one odd thing, two accuracy in sonic siphon seems overkill, but hey that's your choice. Keep in mind though, you will have a difficult time soloing as Ill/Sonic. It's best to team up with other players.
  5. It will helps tons if you mention secondary power set. With that being said, it sounds like you’re talking about Frad (Fire/Rad)? As for Fire Control, take Ring of Fire for leveling, you can drop Ring of Fire once you got the pets. Skip Bonfire. You can skip Hot Feet until you get Choking Cloud. Hot Feet drains a lot of your endurance, especially when you have debuffs toggle on. You can hold on Mutation til lv49 if you’re planning to solo often. The power pools is entirely up to you. Frads usually take Fighting pool instead of Leadership, because they’re going in melee often due to Hot Feet/Choking Cloud and Cinders. I’m not going to mention Fallout. That’s a entirely different topic. ;p
  6. hey there! First of all, it sounds like you want Recharge for your build, you definitely want global recharge from set bonuses. I slotted a lot of set IOs that provides global recharge. You can switch the set IO in Mass Hypnosis to the purple set IO if you can afford it. You also can switch Tactics and Venegance to Mesmerize and Telekinesis from your build if you want. Edit: Made one error in Total Domination; the Lockdown IO should be Lockdown: Acc/Recharge/End/Hold IO. Whoops. 7. Thermal isn't useless. It's very useful for Necromancy. The Necro pets are weak to fire, but with the thermal shields, who cares?
  8. I personally love Plants, it's my favorite control set. During leveling, you should able to solo fine with entangle, strangler and using vet abilities. Use Spore Cloud as much as you can, skip Lifegiving Spores when soloing. That ability costs too much endurance than the end buff it gives (the heal buff isn't that great, I uses it for end buff when IOs slotted). The Plant pet is so AWESOME, it's really sturdy and helps with soloing a lot. She attacks fast and most of her abilities have -DEF, she also have high resistance to every damage type (including Psionic) except Lethal and Fire. A lot of people think the plant pet sucks, but not even close--very underrated pet. As for the extra slots, I'm torn apart slotting the third one into Hasten or Strangler and switch Basilisk's Gaze with a Damage set IOs. Gahhhh
  9. Healing is pretty much the worst form of support in CoX. Stack buffs all day and you never need a heal. Between the ice shields, -ToHit from Spectral Terror, slows/-def/-res from Cold and aggro management by PA, your team will be very safe. Sounds like a winner!
  10. I hadn't considered /Cold too much just because it doesn't have a Heal at all and I'd been sorta steering away from it and Thermal both 'cause they felt too "elemental". Amusingly, I could see the concept working pretty well in the other direction; if I focused on the solo-ish powers, the "cold" could also be a matter of controlling perception of temperature. Don't /Cold have minimal fx?
  11. If I were to do Dark, what's your take on Superior Invisibility vs. Shadow Fall + Stealth IO or the like? Up to you, really. Are you planning to solo? Then take Superior Invisibility. Teaming? Then Shadow Fall. For me personally, I prefer Shadow Fall over Superior Invisibility, SI will lose defense bonuses when discovered. Shadow Fall don't lose any defense bonuses when discovered, but that's not all, it also provides some resistances. I suppose you could take both for LOTG "proc" IOs. I personally never slot or had any experience with Stealth IOs, I can't help you there, sorry.
  12. Ill/Rad is overrated. Seriously, there's so many Ill/Rad left, right, and center. I absolutely love Ill/Time. I had one on Live, it was so much fun, but since you don't want do Time again, I recommend Dark. Think of Chaos theme, then you're good to go!
  13. After playing around with Mids, this is what I came with. I realized I want advice/critique from someone else other than me. My priority for this build is Recharge. Please don't mention Leadership; I don't like taking Leadership on non VEATS, Defenders, or Masterminds. I don't mind switching Ancillary Power Pool as long as you give a good reason. Edit: I forgot to ask one more thing, I still have 2 slots left, I'm still unsure where to slot it. 14. No, you don't. Take Power Blast to increase your ST dps with Crush/Lift/Gravity Distortion (Whatever you have). I know you have Fulcrum Shift, but you need a lot of recharge to make the CD shorter.
  15. Good question! Honestly, in my opinion, there's nothing wrong with your choice (or anyone). They have a different opinion of choosing specific alpha slot. Do you have End issues? Go Cardiac. You want increase hold duration and defense debuffs? Go Intuition (Though I'm not sure if that affects Earth's secondary debuffs, do they stack? Also, This one seems good for any Rad) Want more accuracy, hold duration, and defense buffs? Go Nerve. Vigor is really nice with more healing and end reduction. Spiritual is awesome with increased Recharge, Stuns and Healing. You just need to compare your powersets and alpha slots. For me personally, I took Spiritual on my Plant/Nature/Stone. Vigor seems overkill for /Nature (so many regen/healing). I realized I want more recharge on Overgrowth so I can uses it often. Nature Affinity is very underrated powerset. It's really fun and strong, especially with Overgrowth and Wild Growth. It's a shame a lot of people don't pay attention. :P
  16. What's wrong with Plants? :'( (You're gonna regret it) Illusion is more like Mastermind. Tons of pets. Darkness have more controls than Illusion. Darkness have 3 pets (4 if you count Possess) Possess is awesome, but Illusion have Deceive as well too. Take your pick.
  17. Sorry, I didn't bother to read other posts than the OP. Force Field is all about buffing. I think there's only two damage abilities from Force Field, they're pretty much resisted due to common damage type (Smashing). Illusion is a bit tricky to those who rarely plays Controller. Illusion have 5 (6 if you count the Phantasm clone) pets. Only 3 pets do decent dps, the Phantom Army. Phantasm uses the KB ability often, it's gonna take a while to defeat its enemy. Spectral Terror deals no damage unless you invest the dmg proc into it. Illusion technically have two AoE holds; Blind and Flash. I don't know about others, but I hardly rely on Blind to AoE them. Flash is another AoE ability but, you'll want high accuracy and recharge to use it. The fear from Spectral Terror isn't useful, the enemies often run away or retaliate. Spectral Wounds and Blind are your ST offensive abilities. Phantom Army requires a lot of global recharge to make it perma. I do liked my Ill/FF, I had one on Live a long time ago. I will never roll it again though. ;P
  18. Just out of curiosity, After the proc changes a while ago, is the Contagious Confusion proc still useful? I'm not sure how often it fired from Seeds... Also, I don't feel comfortable seeing that Will of the Controller IOs into Roots. I prefer DMG set IOs into Roots, because its dmg is so strong compared to other immob AEs (unless you're aiming for the set bonuses then too bad).
  19. Two Scrappers, the Tank, Rad, One Kin, Two Thermals are lv50s. Nature, (that's me) was lv42.
  20. Hey! I'm curious to see if anyone experiencing an issue with the Goliath War Walker GM in Boomtown? Its regen is really high, I wonder if it's bugged? We did defeated the generator (assuming there is only one generator). My team is packed with (de)buffs and DPS. Two Scrappers. One Tank Two (lv50) Thermals (Both buffs and debuffs) One Rad Two Kins One Nature The DPS might been a little low but with that tons of debuffs, shouldn't we able to kill him within minutes?
  21. But it is basically the same with Stamina, right? I don't see any difference, the Spores will (or not) buff my allies and of course myself. <shrugs> By the way, did they explain why they change the ppm?
  22. this is incorrect. performance shifter and panacea will proc on those standing in lifegiving spores. you can find the information regarding this in the old forums. OMG! Thank you! I can put them in my Lifegiving Spores! I didn't know the old forums still exists, I should have take a look at them. Thanks again!
  23. 55 views and no responses? REEEEE. I’ll let you lurkers know when I test it later this afternoon. ;)
  24. Hey all! I was looking at the IOs and Pines tweaking my Plant/Nature. I'm having a blast, I just got Empath badge and he's only 36. Remember Empath before shutdown? That was hard to get. Anyway, I'm sure some of you know some procs mentioned "affect the Caster/You" and some proc don't. The Performance Shifter +end proc does NOT mentioned "affect the Caster/You". Does that means it will provide to my allies if I slotted the +End proc in Lifegiving Spores? Have anyone tested it?
  25. Everlasting is the new Unofficial Official RP Shard. Many thanks!
