On the other side of the Brain fart I mentioned above, about half the time while doing the Faultline missions, " investigate hero bases ", in a Arachnos Disguise, I forget that I need to turn off my Taunt Auras or they will see through my disguise and attack anyway. Only missions with a disguise I recall that leaves your power sets in place, and I still find a way to screw it up, lol. It is actually weird seeing a Crab Spider doing animations for some of the Melee Sets.

Almost always miss that after any of the personal story or disguise missions, that you are left afterward with all toggles off, has been unpleasant on many an occasion.

The Hero/Villain or Praetorian options are actually the first choice you get when creating a character, if you choose City of Heroes Freedom, then you choose sides during the Galaxy City tutorial, if you choose not to run the tutorial it will then let you select Hero or Villain. If you choose Going Rogue you will begin in Praetoria. Your actions and choices in the tutorial decide your path unless as @Hartanna said, you are a Kheldian, which are always started as Heroes or Arachnos Soldier or Widow which begin as Villains.

Real Life leveling, enhancing, and badging
Marine X replied to Techwright's topic in General Discussion
My Boss constantly volunteers me for Missions that he has no idea how to complete, earning me the " It'll be a piece of Cake" badge, and furthering my progress toward the infamous " Here, Hold my Beer..." badge. I have Mastered all the Debt badges but have no Illusions of ever getting the ones at the opposite end of that particular spectrum. I got another recently, not the " You should see the other Guy " badge rather the " I am the other Guy " badge. I have no idea why, but at level 1 I was awarded the " Darwin Laughs " badge, I have no idea what that was about. Well hopefully the rewards will keep coming now that I've passed Veteran Level 58, but not holding my breath, unless there's a badge for that, I'll have to check. -
At the top of this screen you will find a tab for "Account", if you click that, then "Game Account", you can reset the Game Log In, if you don't have the password for the Forum Account attached to said Game Account, a ticket is your only recourse. You will need at least the Forum Handle and Email you used to set up the account to request a reset of the forum account.
-
I would file a support ticket regarding this issue, If you have a main and second account, each will have a separate forum account through which you can manage the Game Account, be certain you are logged into the correct one when you attempt to reset the password. It should be a simple matter from the main forum screen to click the account tab and edit the Game Account password, if not something else may be going on. Good Luck.

I was soloing during all of the Dark Astoria content, so who knows why it didn't award. The description appeared in Badges "Closest to Completion" but didn't award after the 2nd rescue. No idea why. Fixed by rerunning them.

Almost leans this toward being a Pact between the Hellions and the Skulls yielding a New Group much more powerful than ALL of their separate Parts. ( This would also easily bring in the Dark Energy powers of the Bone Daddies and Death Dolls, etc )

Is this your initial install or has it worked before? If new to the game I highly recommend using the Homecoming Launcher as it is made just for Homecoming and fully supported. You also may need to make sure you have OpenGL installed and the proper .Net Framework, this game needs those because of its age. All the details are available in the Homecoming Launcher section of the forums,

Running Heather Townsend's and the Dream Doctor's ARCs through Ouroboros, rescuing him in HT's mission 2 and Activating his TP in DD's mission 6, awarded me both the "Buddy Cop" and "Destroyer of Despair" Badges. I am certain I did both when I originally ran them, but it's fixed now, NEXT...

Failed to get Dimensional Warder credit for defeating Diabolique
Marine X replied to Uun's topic in Bug Reports
Gotcha, just noticed you only mentioned Maria Jenkins missions. -
Already checked and it's listed in Achievements as in progress but did not award when I completed the 2nd encounter and then completed the ARC, there are so many badges in that ARC i didn't notice at the time it failed to award. Rerunning all the DA content to get a Badge I have already earned, not sure I'm up for that. I wonder if I can just run Heather Townsend and then run Dream Doctor? That wouldn't be so repetitive as I just finished it a week or so ago.

Stuff like this is why you avoid Dell/Alienware like the plague.
Marine X replied to Hyperstrike's topic in Help & Support
I have a Dell Inspiron Gaming PC that has been absolutely perfect from day one and is still working great today after years of use, Inspiron 5675, Ryzen 3 1200 quad Core, 16 gig Ram (32), 2 Gb AMD Radeon RX560 with a 2 TB hard drive and very little Bloatware. It was $749.99 new about 4 years ago, I got more than I paid for. All that aside, Alienware has been on a steady decline ever since Dell acquired them and it only gets worse. At $5000.00, they did not get what they paid for, period. -
When I went through the Dark Astoria Arcs I was extremely careful to make sure I did what was required for all of the badges for DoD. Just realized it didn't award. I rescued Hopp in Heather's Mission and later activated his TP in the Dream Doctor's mission but didn't notice that the badge didn't award till now. Is there any way, other than completely rerunning all the DA Arcs to get the Buddy Cop Badge?

If you look under badges, accolades, then scan down the list and find Defeat all 14 Praetorian Villains, what does it show? I know that Anti-Matter is not available through Maria and is in the Tina MacIntire arc, but the first one where he teleports away does not count since it is a self defeat. That could be what's holding you up. -
If the screenshots are good, but the display does not reflect that, try manually adjusting the monitors tint, hue, and contrast settings, they may be off enough to cause the discrepancy between what the pc is sending to the monitor and what is displayed.

Beta Patching Error when using Tequila
Marine X replied to Panthonca7034's topic in Open Beta Testing
I could see this being more of an issue if you had to have an install of an entirely different game on your hard drive ( client side ), but the Launcher is only 500kb. That's all that's on your computer. HC Launcher is much more secure and designed specifically to run the HC Version of CoH. This in no way prevents you from having other Launchers for other servers, and It has been public knowledge for a long time that their plan was to move away from Tequilla and Island Rum. The HC Crew is just trying to give us the best, most secure experience that they can, and it is not meant as anything against other servers. -

I would assume he was merely marking his territory, common practice, and quite effective. -
Accolades and Badges are always nice to get, but some are harder, even impossible Solo. This one is not, however it does at times require a bit of pre-planning and a few purchases. Not all these are necessary, but for me they make it go smoother than trying to tough it out, and I look at this as not just a bunch of missions, but as one story. I prefer to do this as an Exemplared 50. The Latest pass was Red Guard, INV/ Radiation Melee / Pyre Tank. TFC Mission Kit: Inspirations: I recommend the Largest of Each Type you think you will need, you can replenish from the Auction House as needed between missions, but I tend to buy enough for each TF, before I start it. Envenomed Daggers, etc: Really handy to use between your attacks, a lot of this Process will be without key parts of your attack chain that you have been accustomed to, so a few extra tools can go a long way. Summons: Warwolves, Shivans, whatever, you can even purchase Signature Summons from P2W ( Posi, Numina etc ). Your choice will need to counter whatever you may not have to take down an AV Solo, exemplared. In my case I used Posi, Damage and Debuff all in one. Patience: You are Soloing, you can log out at anytime between missions without losing your progress. Some are a lot to do at one sitting, but it is nice to set a pace that will allow you to watch cut scenes and read dialog without feeling rushed, It will be done soon enough, and some of these have unique sets that aren't reused much in the game. Task Force Suggestions: Positron; The Rule of Three / Dam Hero: Part 1/Part 2 total 13 missions. Level 15. Tarses and the Shadow Simulacrum ( a black silhouette of you ) are not too tough and a few inspirations should get you past them. Rollister went Quick but I know Dr Vazhilok can be a different story. I attacked him till he summoned his spawn, then went to the other end of the Catwalk and summoned Positron. this caused the spawn to create a buffer between me and the good Doc till I could reduce their numbers, then concentrate on him. It went slowly but he finally went down. Synapse: Fall of the Clockwork King: 15 Missions. Level 20. Long, repetitive but the final mission has a really cool look. The King is tough, and Psych Powered so have plenty of Escapes to pop and it will go pretty easy, no summon for me but use your judgement. Penelope Yin: Clamor for the People: 4 Missions. Level 25. Short, sweet and a great final mission set. Clamor can be a handful, so use a bunch of Resistance and Damage Inspirations to limit the debuffs, shut down the computers when she disappears and get ready for round 2. Not too bad, but was almost out of Inspirations when she finally went down. Citadel: Citadel's Children: 11 Missions. Level 30. Missions are not great but, well, they are also kinda repetitive, but at least it's quicker than Synapse. Vandal seems toward the low end of Arch Villain Strength, and at 30, your attack chain is starting to reappear. No big issues here, a few Inspirations and down he goes. Manticore: Following Countess Crey: 10 Missions. Level 35. I would like to say this one required the most strategy to get it finished. Attack chain at 35 is better but I found on a previous run the best thing to do after Hopkins goes down the 1ST time is book out to the mission door and exit. While outside, restock anything you used and reenter the mission, Countess Crey will spawn just outside the entrance room, whereas Hopkins will respawn where you fought him the first time and stay there. After a Positron summon we take her down, then head to back of the map and deal with Hopkins again. Both are AVs so two at a time is more work than I care to put in. Numina: Soul of the Woodsman: 21 Missions ( 16 hunts ). Level 40. The missions are pretty straight forward, the Hunts well, some are for something that are not all that plentiful where you need to hunt it, but are doable. The final battle with Jurassik, with Positron summoned and me glowing from all the Inspirations I used, went fairly quick, he doesn't seem to be the GM level Jurassik, but it still took a while to whittle him down. Well hope someone finds something useful in this, I have a lot of Solo only Characters due to my playtime limitations and it has allowed me to use time when I can find a team to do things I can't alone. Good Hunting.

I can confirm that it is having issues. I soloed the task force mission " Defeat the Clockwork Lord ", announced in chat that there would be a Babbage spawn when I exited Map. Exited and waited around outside mission door and nothing ever happened. It has been suggested that if a Zone Event, such as Troll Rave is running it prevents the spawn. That is about impossible to plan for, but I noticed Supatrolls in the area after I gave up waiting, so it seems like a possible explanation, even though it stinks.

It is possible that the game and your video processor are at odds. You might take a look at the settings and perhaps even the driver, both on the Game and your Card, there may be a setting that just needs tweaked to get it looking correctly. Since the screen shots are close, I would lean toward the PC. It is an old game that still uses OpenGL so who knows.

City Of Heroes no longer works... causes PC to crash
Marine X replied to graeme27uk's topic in Help & Support
You may want to check Windows Update and see if there were any automatic updates or if video drivers have been updated since it last worked properly. If you are using the Homecoming Launcher, click the dots next to start, and click the update selection, there have been patches recently that may not have updated properly which can cause issues. You can check for connection issues specific to COH, if in game' by running /netgraph1, it will track you connection to the server and show any loss of connection. There is also a crash log in the Launcher that you can forward, with any personal info removed for the sake of privacy, by filing a support ticket. They may be able to help you out.
