Remembering the late, great, RoboTechMaster
Marine X replied to DoctorDitko's topic in General Discussion
Great Idea, one of the few forum posters from the original game boards who I never remember leaving the community. He was a presence on Titan Network/Paragon Chat long after the game shut down and was always helpful. I believe a memorial of some kind has been well earned, maybe a conspicuous spot somewhere in Echo Plaza would be appropriate. -
Combat Jumping and Weave are both great on Tanks and Brutes, especially if their Armor is Resistance Based, gives you someplace to build defense for when the resist is just not enough, and both have a small endurance cost for toggles. Usually 3 slot each with LOTGs to get the defense and global recharges, sometimes more if I feel the main armor needs more help, then respec later if I feel I no longer need the slots there. I know, probably not optimum, but it works.

Also, try with your AV and Windows Defender disabled. If netgraph is not showing losses before you drop it is a local issue, restarting the router and modem may even correct the issue. Make sure you are installed somewhere other than Program files or any Windows controlled area, preferably create a folder called Homecoming directly on your hard drive and install the game there. Gremlins can be frustrating, good luck.

If you go into the Wireless Adapter settings you can specify what speed that it is running at, if at 10, 100, 1000, limit it to 10, 100 and see if it helps. Latency is a killer here and if you are losing packets it can lead to lost connections. Running at GIG is not helping you if you are losing packets.

I imagine they are either just trying to be helpful or like having people see how OP they are in a mission tailored to their abilities. I enjoy farming occasionally but both of my farmers are built to be able to do normal game play and were leveled the old fashioned way. I never search for door sitters but if asked will allow them to join me if that's their wish. To each their own.

Popup menu or commands to auto level in testing ?
Marine X replied to plainguy's topic in Help & Support
Here's an older post explaining the Menus: -
I am an Expert at doing things the wrong way. I seem to get an Insane pleasure from doing things the Hard way as well, should be obvious, I play mostly Tanks/Brutes. I also, because of being mostly on Reunion, living in the American Midwest and playing mostly in the early AM before work, tend to Solo almost exclusively. Back on Virtue, I was always a solid team Tank. I used to Craft Enhancements then sell them, then rebuy Attuned Versions for slotting. I understand the Financial Logic behind this practice, but I enjoy the Crafting/Attuning process. I am also somewhat impatient, so bidding low and waiting for an opportunity is difficult for me. I seldom buy catalysts, but collect them in base storage, to use by other Characters later or to Attune Enhancements to give away when the mood strikes. Just considering the possibility of creating a dedicated Crafting Character to scratch that particular itch and want it to be as capable and versatile as possible. Not the smartest thing, but there you go. Typical Marine X.
-
One thing that is a good add to a base is an Auto Doc, it disperses Inspirations but will also buy Salvage and Recipes as a Vendor would, and I tend to put it near the TP Area for easy access between missions, along with the Base Rez.
-
I can typically acquire recipes and salvage thru missions/farming that are essentially free to create them. There are several popular enhancements, clearly not all, that you can create and attune yourself, at less than the market price. Just looking at those particular ones. There are also others that drop very rarely, even though they are not rare that are cheaper to craft than buy because of demand. I agree that most of the time it is better to craft and sell rather than attune, but there are exceptions. I am focusing on the ones with multiple bids but low or no supply. Just something to keep my idle hands from doing the devil's work, lol. I am thinking of naming the character: "Tuna"
-
In order to craft and attune enhancements to sell or use on other Toons. In order to Attune them you have to be able to slot the crafted enhancement in order to use a Catalyst to Attune it. So if attuning a Slow Movement Enhancement, you have to have somewhere where you can slot it. Looking for an AT and Power selections that would be able to slot the widest possible variety of enhancements.
-
Been thinking about creating and power leveling a toon specifically to be used as a SuperGroup Crafter/Attuner. This would require the ability to slot the widest possible variety of Enhancements. I was thinking probably a Controller would be the most diverse given that it could slot a lot of different types plus what you could add through pool powers. The Hard ones are AT specific enhancements, and those are probably just not going to happen. I also considered Sentinals. Any suggestions? Have no intention of using this as anything more than a Base Bot, eg: Crafter, Attuner, Influence, Salvage and Recipe Storage, so gameplay is not a concern.
-
I will be primarily on Reunion ( Most of my Toons are there even though I'm in Ohio, USA ), and may do some on Everlasting and Excelsior. Just planning to do the 12 Days of Christmas Giveaway I did every year on Live but use Enhancements instead of Influence this time. People can always cash them in.
-
While I am still in the Farming Phase of my pre-Christmas Ritual, I am starting to consider a few changes to my annual giveaway. Because of the clumsiness of the trade interface, and a lot of people not understanding why I am offering to trade, a lot decline to trade, so no gift. Thus I am thinking about just buying attuned enhancements that I can just Drag and Drop on Players. Trying to think of perhaps of a few popular varieties, like Blessing of the Zephyr ( Knock back Protection ) for level 10+ Luck of the Gambler ( Def +Global Recharge ) for level 25+. Any suggestions for additional ones to consider that would be desirable and in the 5 Million or less range would be appreciated. Also would enhancement Catalysts be a desirable gift?, usually 3 Million or so at the AH.

Indeed, very compelling, and poignant topic. I am truly moved by what I've seen here, I just need a moment......

Having never tried to organize one of these myself, I find @Nightwatch and @Oklahoman have done an excellent job of explaining the "Why" of how they try to organize these events. I was aware that there were issues inviting Cross-Faction but didn't realize that it was only an issue if they were not in Zone, so good plan, saves everyone a lot of time. I have always struggled, in a busy area, to keep a conversation going as it scrolls by pretty quick, so in this case less chat is desirable. @Oklahoman did a nice enough job explaining and laying out his post that it is worthy of being copied to the guides sub-forum in my opinion.

I suddenly feel so....small

I may be remembering this wrong but isn't there a way to back up a base on your PC? If so, anyone could create a few generic, fully equipped bases, that anyone could copy and load into the base editor, which would make this a no DEV time required process. I would defer to the base building experts on this one.

Seems to me I once got " Trusted with the Secret " badge doing a level 15 or so mission, can't remember who the contact was but it involved a Gangster Boss who could, during the fight, Time Travel away from you and then come back to attack. It wasn't a contact I usually do or I would remember more, ring a bell? Edit: I remembered wrong, I was level 20 when I got the badge not level 15, I just knew it was early and different. Any mission from any contact as I understand it, that involves time travel, grants the Badge and Access. The Arc I was thinking of was The Magic Man from Mercedes Sheldon, 20-25 normal, listed 25-29 in Ouro.

I think that covers it nicely. It's well documented our average age is in the 40-70 range. Some of this is crap we would scold our children or grand children about doing, and rightfully so. Bullying, baiting and being verbally abusive is childish, and something most anyone in this community should have put behind them long ago.

zones that are never used ( for the most part)
Marine X replied to MikeEmike's topic in Suggestions & Feedback
Boomtown has 3 of the most challenging to find Exploration badges in the Game, even with VidiotsMaps and has the War Walker Event for Merits and a Badge. Babbage Spawns there as well. It's also a great place to Street Sweep when you're in that level range due to the large Mobs of Council. Terra Volta is by far the best place to hunt both Freakshow Tanks ( 100 required for Freedom Phalanx Reserve ) or Sky Raiders as they are easy to find and plentiful. Also home to the Respec Trial. The First Ward and Night Ward Missions and Arcs are some of the Best Written in the Game, with some Novel game mechanics and the enemy groups are more difficult than most, something I hear people asking for quite often, to not do these is missing out on something special, even if you aren't Praetorian. Echo: Faultine is the Best Place to hunt Clockwork Princes ( which spawn Clockwork Gears needed for Freedom Phalanx Reserve ) as they are abundant. Echo: Dark Astoria is great for working on Banisher Badge ( 200 Banished Pantheon Spirit Masks ) and the home of Adamaster, one of the only in game Giant Monsters who can be summoned on demand. Basically these all have things they are useful for, and occasionally you will even be assigned a mission there by a Contact from a different Zone. I think it would probably be better to just supplement the content of these with Arcs at the level each zone was created to serve and allow them to keep their Level Range -
I believe that a lot of people get bored and impatient pretty quickly with anything, whether it be a Game or Anything else. With the Kickstarter Games mentioned in OPs post, they have really about lost all the patience anyone had for how long it was going take to create, probably including themselves. I don't think that CoX being up and running will have much effect on their success or failure, we are a pretty small community, and they were once part of it, so I wish them Luck. Just remember how every body and their brother did a server pile-on back in April and May of 2019 to the point they had to keep adding shards, then by June or July the crisis was over and the population went to about where it is now, as far as active players, people got bored, and off they went. I have been seeing a lot of new, and I mean NEW inexperienced players on lately, not a bad thing, it would be nice to see this go on for the foreseeable future. Still have lots to do. On the other part of this 4 Page discussion is SCoRE. I recently got my private i24 OuroDev server running, went with their Self Installing Version, piece of Cake, then I logged in, wow, I mean wow. Pretty harsh without all the SCoRE installed improvements, Prestige Free Bases, Artificial Market Seeding, PTW, More Costume options, More Power sets and also all the adds that the Homecoming team have made. I'm spoiled I guess, but I appreciate what both groups have done to enhance and expand CoH, and didn't realize how much until logging into my own CoH server with all their hard work missing. I may have to wade through the i25 manual install after all.
