I don't recall them being a per-mez thing, but whatever the pre-Break-Frees were, you couldn't activate them while you were mezzed, you had to use them in advance.

I've come partway around on them, after being a little dismissive of them at first. I have an Elec/Elec Sentinel I've been playing a lot recently, but I'm not going to forsake my Blaster over the Sentinel. They're different animals.

These days I hear a lot of people talk about the Panacea special piece, which looks to functionally be about the equivalent of the Numina's special piece. Are there any real advantages of one over the other?

That's definitely something to consider going forward, but isn't the setup I've got right now. We go to Paragon City with the PCs we have, not the ones we want. :)

Hey, So I've got a son who knows that I got back into the superhero game I used to play when he was teeny-tiny. He's nine now. As a family we're not really into video games, the kids don't have a console, and really COH is the only thing I play myself. We moved last week, and he helped me hook up my desktop PC and the router. As a thank-you gesture to The Boy, I launched COH, showed him how to move around, and let him take my Rad/Rad Brute and stomp a few Skulls in Kings Row (said Brute is like level 34, so this was a pretty lopsided fight). Last night at the dinner table, he asked me if he could "Play more Paragon City." I was like, "Uh yeah, sure, if Mom agrees it's okay." He didn't follow up on that after dinner, but I'm not going to ignore this. I was thinking I'd let him make his own character (on my account) he can have for himself. So, open question to any parents with kids in that age range. You think there's any reason I shouldn't let him play? Anything you do to "secure" things for them? (I was thinking maybe always leave his char hidden, and/or make his LFG message read something like, "Hi, I'm 9, and my dad is sitting with me as I play.") Any other general advice? I don't think I had a "favorite AT" back in the day. As measured in "ATs I had the most of at 50," I guess it would be Brutes and Doms. I've made a few Brutes, but I've barely touched Dominators yet. Then as now, I had what I call "alt-crushes", just my term for whoever I was most jazzed to play, and it flipped around a lot. Still does. My current one is for my Elec^2 Sentinel, but I bet that'll change if you ask me again in a week.

@Titomancer: back in the day, there was only one of my characters for whom my costume set was literally a full biographical progression: my Elec^2 Brute, OhmWrecker. He went from "Just a guy working on the PTS" to "Fledgling villain" to "Professional a**-kicker" to "Heir of eldritch Mu power." Which, okay, that last was just the previous stage with a Mu helmet on, by the end I was running out of steam. :) Very proud of him. Good food for thought here. I'll start experimenting with stuff tonight as opportunity permits.

Aaaaand I am suddenly reminded of the time back in the old days when, in the middle of a Manticore TF, we all broke into a rousing version of Queen's Bohemian Rhapsody for basically no reason. Apart from, you know, awesome song, man. EDIT: so that I'm clear, I mean all beating up of Crey personnel literally stopped for this to be done. No one talked about it, it just happened. It was like in old Hollywood movies when suddenly you'd break into The Musical Number.

@justicebeliever (and anyone else who read his reply and said, "Yeah, man!"): I get that, I absolutely do. My post was in no way an attempt to tell more introverted folks to "just get over it," which it sounds like you probably didn't read it that way but I'm just saying that to make double-damn sure. :) The intent was just to make sure that folks who might've been thinking, "Pfft yeah, like that'll work," learn that yes, it really can work. I haven't walked a mile in your shoes, but I've walked 13 years next to someone wearing a similar pair, so to a certain extent, I get it (but she doesn't take part in MMOs, so I don't know how the one intersects with the other). Hey, So last night my Elec/Elec Sentinel (Ann Ionic) got to level 22. Her basic concept is, "Former associate of the Outcasts, as if they had gotten female members like the Hellions and Skulls did in the late-Live era" and her costume is basically using the costume creator to get as close as possible to an Outcast Charger, just on a woman. I'll post a screenshot of it tonight, just for completeness' sake. So now she's into her 20s, and I think she needs another costume. I want a look that kind of says, "I'm starting to branch out past my identity as a member of the Outcasts, but I'm not some full-on master villain just yet." Actual design specs are few. She's got blonde hair and blue skin; both those points are non-negotiable, so I'd like any color scheme to not clash with that. Her power customizations, though, are open to recoloring; right now they're white with blue, but that could easily be changed. As I said before, I think the key thing here is nothing too, I don't know, over the top I guess. If anyone has a knack for costume design and wants to give suggestions, I'm definitely open to suggestions. Thanks so much for your time! Generator
