Okay, where is it falling down? Can you get the Shield Charge to work, for instance?

I have a few unused concepts from back in the day that could certainly become an Ice Sentinel, but now I want to take a look at the powers and see what the specific difference is from Tanker version of the set.

Does the Sentinel version even have icicles? I think in a lot of the other similar sets, the damage aura is the one that gets lost on the changeover to this archetype.

I don't know from an update to mids' numbers. By the time I noticed this last night I was nearly incoherent with fatigue. Sapper tactics, I don't use them all the time but I find more use for them than some other folks do.

Hey folks, So I've got an Elec^2 Sentinel with whom I'm quite happy. She's a refreshing change of pace from my Elec^3 Blaster. But I noticed something late last night, and wanted some feedback before I made any changes. On the aforementioned Blaster, I always used Short Circuit slotted for End Drain instead of damage, figuring I had enough other attacks slotted for damage that I could use the utility there. But by definition the Sentinel is a bit leaner in availability of attacks, so I'm trying to be more "efficient" with her. While I was in Mids last night, I realized that Sentinels' damage value for SC, well I won't call it great damage, but it's not nothing. It's almost the same value as Rad Blast.Irradiate is for Sentinels, and you wouldn't slot Irradiate just for Def Debuff. So I guess what I'm asking is: for those of you playing Elec/* Sentinels, are you slotting SC for damage in the manner of a standard PBAOE attack? Thanks for your time. Later on, Generator

No, I mean your actual name. Captain Awesome, or whatever. Every so often I see folks with the color of it changed, and if I know where/how to change that, I've forgotten.

Hey, my search-fu stinks tonight so I figured I'd ask for help. How do you change the color of your character's display name and badge title? I can change the color of the "general title" (for lack of a better term), but then its color doesn't match my name and badge title. Thanks, Generator

I'm torn between trying a Psi/Bio and a Psi/Fire (if the latter, for precisely the reason detailed by @Nightmarer, to add in another damage type), and the only reasonable approach may be to make both. 😀

@Redlynne, that's great, but as I said, what I was aiming for when I looked at that was comparing GIS to its comparable powers in other Tanker Secondaries. KO Blow, Greater Fire Sword, Shatter, and so on.

You didn't miss Neutrino Bolt? Seems to me it would be a little slow on the attack chain as you're leveling that way.

True, but that requires the player to be aware, if they Exemplar, which set bonuses are active and which ones provide how much Acc all the way down. I know for purples that's not an issue, but for the rest of the sets it is.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but the problem with this approach is that it requires a full set of PM, which then leaves you with no way enhancement of Drain Psyche's Accuracy.

Even so, among a pack of dogs, GIS is a real woofer. I remember doing some quick napkin math back in the day, comparing the various high DMG ST attacks of various Tanker sets, comparing them by DPA. GIS was just way the hell down there, last by a mile. IIRC, I calculated it would need about a 90% boost to its base damage to get to the median DPA value of that set of attacks. If at the same time, you shortened its animation to use the one from Icy Assault's "Ice Slash" (that set's unique replacement of GIS), the mount you have to buff by drops to about 45%. (Don't hold me to those numbers, that's to the best of my recollection of some Excel doodling I did 7-8 years ago while bored at work. 🙂 )

That's a really nice-looking build, I might crib some pieces from that. 🙂 I'm of a similar mind as the guy who thought ditching Ice Sword wasn't a great idea. IMO, the real dog of the set is Greater Ice Sword. Its animation time can be measured in hours... Thanks for sharing! Generator

True but adding a slot to Hurdle gives almost no utility, given that you can't really put anything decent set-wise in there. You'd probably be much better served putting that someplace else, ideally someplace it can help you get a decent bonus.

Yeah the other night I realized my Rad/Atomic blaster could use Atom Smasher while hovering, with that same caveat of "be down by the ground before trying", so I then started wondering, hey, why exactly am I using CJ on my Brute again...? Thanks.

I'm hoping someone in this thread can remind me. Atom Smasher, can this be used while flying/hovering? IIRC, it's "Yes, but you have to be fairly close to the ground," isn't it? I'm trying to recall why I felt I had to use Combat Jumping for my guy.

I've gotten back to my Rad^2 Brute lately, so I'm kind of keen to see read some "shop talk" on that flavor of Brute. Anyone who's got something to share, I'm all ears. @metacore, if you end up making that S/L defense build, share with the class, dig? 😉
