  1. Yeah, I thought those threads were cool. I was hoping for raw data then too. I haven’t reviewed it in a long time, I should reread. Assuming accuracy, that 32% indicates farming is keeping people playing, or at least it was two years ago. Of course that doesn’t clearly explain if the player was afk farming or power leveling another character(s) or afk powerleveling another character(s). I guess it’s the data scientist in me that wants to drill down deeper and discover trends and really understand the truth of the matter. Is there a way to discover from the data who is afk farming? If so how many hours of active gameplay stem from afk farming? How much influence? So many insights just waiting to be discovered!
  2. I’m seeing arguments about whether people who powerlevel 1-50 play a lot. Most arguments are based on personal preference, anecdotes, and arguments stemming from those preferences and anecdotes. I wonder what kind of statistics are available to get actual data. How many characters level to 50 primarily in AE missions? How many leveled In less than x hour played? For those characters, how many played other content after getting to 50? How many players, after leveling to 50 in AE, did it again? How many times? Same for non AE? What percentage of total content played is played inside architect? What percentage of total influenced generated comes from AE? Devs, can we get access to the raw data (tableau, grafana, etc) to do our own analysis to get the bottom of some of the arguments on the forums?
  3. Lots of assumptions on what they want. Devs, please just spell out for us, as if we were all 5 year olds, what your vision of the future for this game is.
  4. I saw in the beta patch notes that Mercs had some bug fixes. Unfortunately, I am totally unable to play COH right now. What difference do these changes make for Mercs?
  5. What is the overall vision the team has for the game? Like to what ends are these changes being made? To get new players? To get current players to play more? Is there an overall encompassing vision/ future state? Or do different devs have their own silos and they just work on things they are passionate about? I think understanding the overall vision/ future state, even in vague terms might help us to offer more constructive feedback.
  6. I assume you’re just referring to Mercs. They make a lot of us laugh... and cry.
  7. Not using the auto fire mechanic, like with the little circle around the power. However, you can bind one or both of those powers to the directional keys or mouse clicks. This way every time you move or click the mouse the game will try to use the power. If the power is not ready then nothing happens, if it is ready then it will fire.
  8. Looks like a pretty good build! You're gonna be great if you run it- lots of damage- though you will likely have to use transference a lot. If you're looking for places to eek some improvements, I would suggest not worrying about Range defense. Fire/Kins are top shelf in melee range. Between, flashfire, cinders, hot feet, fissure, and bonfire you can survive via control even with poor defense, but getting sm/l to cap will also go a long way. I see you have them capped with incarnates. Hot feet is pbaoe and fissure is close range. They beg for you to get into the fray. I'd recommend a knockback to knockdown in fissure too. If you decided to not worry about range you can get back several slots or switch sets, possibly to eek out a little more resistance, for example, swap out 6 lockdown in cinders for the +2 hold lockdown and 5 superior overpowering presence, and drop earth's embrace to 5 slots and improve the recharge on fulcrum shift for easier/longer double stacking. I'd also recommend Assault Radial embodiment (Chance for double strike) for Hybrid. Overall, though I think I'm mostly just talking about preference. Nice build!
  9. @Armaaz I tried to view, but your version of mids is newer that mine, and it doesn't seem available from the mids site or through the update feature. How did you get to 3.3.1?
  10. I know the OP gave a list of options, but I can't speak to them. Instead, Fire/ Kin / Fire and Fire/ Kin/ Stone are classics for a reason. They are incredible DPS, and also offer great controls, and bonfire is one of the most powerful powers in the entire game. Lots of fun! Soloing x8 +4 is moderately easy and there are several viable builds on the forums.
  11. Recently, I read a post (sorry, I don’t remember the topic or the poster) where someone said the worst thing a player can do in this game is drop early from a task force (paraphrased). I’m not sure I would care much, in fact I’m sure if there is anything that a player could do in this game that would make me mad for longer than second or two, but maybe not. I’m curious to hear where everyone else draws the line. Maybe I forgot something. What do you think? Barring actual crimes, what’s the worse offense a player could commit offense in game in your eyes?
  12. I know people who have experienced and are experiencing serious mental health issues including delusions, paranoia, and schizophrenia. This post rings of mental illness. While it’s not possible to know that definitively from a forum post, I think it is wise to assume this person is Ill and to not make light of a possibly serious and /or tragic situation.
  13. Pain/ water defender and if pool powers allowed invisibility, invis others, teleport, teleport other team teleport, If epic powers then dark for the self rez. I could do a lot of good to help the sick with pain dom and teleport and use water to help with agriculture. Invisibility will make building up funds for a nonprofit organization easy. Self rez let’s me do very dangerous things as needed.
  14. A lot of people who first play squishies and then build a tank play the tank with a similar mindset, except, instead of being concerned about the team, for them the most fun is living through what would have killed their other characters: Take alphas, smack around a few minions, then as the survival required decreases (as does Tanker AOE effectiveness) leave the rest of the mob for the squishies. Then, take the next alpha and start over.
  15. * nearly * comparable when there is a big group, but not overall
  16. Tanks are hard to kill, best survivability in the game. Even without min max build and even without IOs at all tanks survive extremely well. They also hit the most targets with AoEs. So maxing damage per attack means having full groups to hit. Many people play tanks like scrappers that are harder to kill but also can do nearly comparable damage as long as there are lots of enemies.
  17. I see. I meant vs. having a me first attitude, which is often expected from a lot of other archetypes.
  18. Part of the team is not the same as doing what other people think a tank or brute should be doing. You can be part of the team by surviving and defeating enemies, no crowd control or protecting of the team is necessary to be part of the team. Why be a tanker or brute if you don’t intend to taunt, protect the team or control the aggro? Because tanks and brutes are the sturdiest archetypes and choosing them makes it way more likely you personally won’t die, particularly if you don’t have a min maxed build.
  19. The real protection here, especially for pugs, is to build your characters to be able to survive and thrive regardless of what anyone else does. The only character any of have any real control over is the one we’re playing.
  20. I keep reading that the tanks role is to keep the team safe. That’s something tanks can certainly do, but a lot of people pick tanks or brutes so they can personally survive. The role a given player takes on is up to that specific player not the other people playing. There is nothing inherent in a tank that makes them need to protect the team. If anyone assumes that a tank or brute intends to play with a team first attitude then that anyone will certainly have to swallow a lot of disappointment.
  21. Discord is always on and can be viewed from nearly all kinds of modern devices. The idea is that it is lightweight and easy to monitor. You don’t have to log in to the actual game, but if you see something happening you like, you can pop in a message and log on. Discord can social media-ify the lfg channels. This is precisely why I don’t use it for lfg.
  22. I don’t agree this is a closed minded group. To the actual question at hand. I can see the value in a discord lfg channel so that you could monitor from your pc, laptop, or phone or anywhere and jump in when something you’re interested in is occurring. For me personally, I prefer to not have a constant stream of messages to beckon me to the game. I like to have dedicated time to play then be done. In the spirit of moderation and mental health, I vastly prefer that all game related functions require me to actively login to the game.
  23. What if the ability to use Rikti costumes/ powers was a patron pool. They used to do a community idea discussions and I suggested it back then. Just because it is relevant, here is my original unedited suggestion and accompanying mission:
  24. What do you need more of? If it’s defense or general survivability you may want to try a Brute instead, martial arts gets a +defense added to storm kick (or maybe thunder kick, can’t recall) for brutes and they can also get more hit points which improves hp/sec regenerated as well as having higher resist caps.
