It’s true that it’s 6 of one and half dozen of the other. I don’t know that it’s curious, since it is the same either way. I’d rather get a buff than have something suppressed, so it makes since to frame it the way they did. Does it really matter and is it worth the further debate it could produce?

Then I think we (me, you, and the PvPer’s are on the same page)

September 2019 Donations & Finances
justicebeliever replied to Cipher's topic in Finances & Donations
@CipherI’ll waste my time again and ask this question, especially since you are asking us, the community, to pay these fees: What is the non-profit shaping up to look like? Give us an idea - 501(c)(3)? Something different? Will the board members names be made public? Will we be supporting a charitable cause? You can obfuscate the letterhead and still post the invoices for the attorneys... It’s not really transparency if the answer is wait and see, and trust us. And if that’s the answer, then I’ll just wait again until next month to ask. I appreciate the work you guys are doing, but as you are moving from hobbyist to something more legitimate, I think it’s fair to expect you to show more of your cards... -
Can we post self-congratulatory milestone screenshots?

@GotMedievalI’m floored...Wow! -
Again, it’s only in PvP zones where this would happen. They wouldn’t leave the zone with the accolade. So I ask again, how does their lack of grinding impact PvE? Or you?

Official 'enterbasefrompasscode' Resolution thread
justicebeliever replied to Cinderwalker's topic in Suggestions & Feedback
I've been quite tenacious lately in my defense of PvP, but the reason I don't play is because the worst experiences I have ever had in game or on the forums have been due to PvPer's who behave what I would call the opposite of friendly...I am sure there are some very nice PvP'ers out there...you sound like you could be one of them...but I'm just not down for the broadcast PvP and the absolute mockery of civility that I've seen from some on the forums... -

I think they have all but committed to retooling the teleporter to have a shorter recharge and animation time...but why the reveal power? Not sure how that connects.... -
I swear I am not picking a fight, but isn't what you said the same as this:

Official 'enterbasefrompasscode' Resolution thread

But it's the same reason people keep buying faster personal computers...I used to wait 5-10 seconds for a web page to load on my pc...Now it's an eternity even on my phone, so much so that after 3 seconds I check how many bars I have...I used to wait 2 minutes for my PC to boot...now it takes <20 seconds...if it went 2 minutes without doing anything, I'd hard shut it down and reboot...Same reason people want to drive faster on the freeway, or get the express lane at checkout, or.... Once you become accustomed to fast, slow is always harder...It's really not ridiculous... I don't think anyone's been confused by that...I think it's the GM command that's causing the angst...It was faster and easier...who in their right mind would then want to go back to slower and harder? With the exception of one poster here, who likes to post 4 times in a row (and I've ignored), I think everyone's accepted the change is coming and it won't be game breaking...It's just going to be a pain... -
100 hours EDIT: used to be 21 days...now 1% progress is one hour...
-
Isn't that the suggestion on the table? Am I missing something?
-
The OP was about making a change that would only be in effect in PvP only zones... I agree, it shouldn't be about a PvP'er getting a shortcut that would also apply to their PvE experience. But they've never suggested anything remotely like that in this thread...
-
I'm of the opinion that any new PvE content can be in a PvP zone, but a.) it needs to be optional, not required to continue to level your character...No forcing someone into a zone, (report to a Longbow representative mission). b.) new PvE content using new assets should be in PvE zones. Don't make me to a PvP zone just to fight a new bad guy... Other than that, if there is a creative way to reuse what we already have and give it a small but useful prize,, I'm all for putting things in PvP zones...doesn't bother me at all This...I agree, this sucks!
-
But it is what you are saying...you immediately appeal to fairness as if the 2 experiences have to be the same for some reason... Why do PvP'ers have to grind the same as PvE'ers? Explain why it's a must and why, if they don't, it damages the game for PvE? This is like the same old PL vs Grinder, DFB vs Content argument that everyone has to play the game a certain way...or it's not "fair".

Well, I feel refreshed after a few hours of sleep....Wait...What? You all are still dueling? Reminder: I am not a PvP'er here, or anywhere...I have never played PvP and I don't intend to start...The majority of my forums ignore list is PvP'ers Here are a couple of my thoughts: @kelly RocketI get that going into a PvP zone is an anxiety inducing, stressful, perhaps painful thing for you. And I see discussing what you believe are equitable solutions and then getting attacked. However, the reality is that the PvP'ers are having to get these accolades in the PvE zones as designed and intended. There are no shortcuts, But a PvE'er in Bloody Bay or Warburg is playing the game as designed, but NOT as intended...The intent to get a Shivan Shard or Warburg nuke was that you would have to fight a bunch of other players to get them...That does not happen. It's not the same thing...Also, the PvP'ers have been saying these accolades are necessary to win battles....I am 100% certain that Shivan Shards and Warburgs Nukes are not necessary to win battles in PvE... @WarlawkI get that you are concerned about the fairness and equity of what the PvP'ers are asking for in contrast to the PvE experience...But here's the thing...If you are going to talk about fairness, it goes both ways...Let's suggest that PvP gets equal development time as PvE...Because otherwise we are back to treating them like second class citizens - we get everything, you get nothing, and when you suggest something, we say, it's not fair that you get something...Let the PvP'ers decide what's most important to them...Then ask - How does this change hurt my experience? How does it hurt the PvE experience...And stick to that....
-
Pax, I too suffer anxiety, we've talked about it...Now I am not going to compare, nor suggest what you should or should not be able to do, (because I don't know exactly what it's like to be you): 1.) PvP Zones are optional - you don't have to go to them. 2.) Dev's should put limited PvE content in PvP zones...Badges, Temp Powers, etc...it's a challenge for those who wish to undertake it, and it's not game breaking at all to avoid it...
-
I have yet to see any PvP'er asking for parity...They all seem to understand that they are a minority, and it's bad practice to, as you said, cater to such a small audience. However, when they come to the forums asking for bug fixes, exploits closed, and the occasional QoL improvements, what they hear back is "Nobody does and nobody should care about PvP, you guys are the devil, and any time spent improving the game for you means that we will start dupin rares, and the game will be gone to the americans" And that just sucks...I don't think PvP should have parity either, because they are such a small audience...but I'll be damned that they should be treated as second class players of the game.
-
But they already do suffer: 1.) On the forums where they are treated like second class citizens 2.) In the game that pays little attention to any their requests or QoL improvements if you want true parity - then 50% dev time for PvP and 50% for PvE...
-
Yes please!

In fact, some types of non-profits are required to charge for stuff...A social organization 501(c)(7), needs to collect member dues, and not donations...Not that HC can go that route, there are other reasons a 501(c)(7) won't work for HC (has to limit membership, has to allow for personal contact between all members, and can't be open to the public)
-
Spot on! Totally transparency, I have not ever, nor plan to ever engage in any pvp. That said, we can't use a slippery slope argument against the pvp'ers. It can't be no because “if you give them an inch, they'll take a mile”. Because that's not how game development works...each change is evaluated on it's own merits. +1 to the OP’s suggestion...
-
Why would lvl 5 matter? Create the character, do DFB a few times and boom you are lvl 15-20... For most people grinding Alts just isn't an issue...Not suggesting people don't still drop them pretty quick, but 1 hour of DFB is going to blow past lvl 5...

Holy guacamole @Voltor, that is amazing...what is the current HC record? -
As long as this is a hobby for the Dev’s, I think they are smart to keep their own counsel...It’s a passion project and whimsy can influence what you work on, why give the impression to your user base that you have timetable and deliverables you are working toward, if it’s really just about what you want to be working on. That being said, if this deal goes thru, this becomes a more legitimate enterprise and they’ll need to embrace the user base’s expectation of knowing what’s coming to generate confidence and excitement, and they should have a roadmap, but one based on realistic timelines and resources...because you can only disappoint so many times before you lose your audience...
