Opinion: More players should see Null the Gull

Killing even introduced hero-side...3rd mission arc in Atlas, you are betrayed by Aaron Thiery and have the option to kill him (not arrest) at the end of the arc -
When you think someone is playing their AT "wrong" ...
justicebeliever replied to PaxArcana's topic in General Discussion
What's "team friendly"? If the only thing that makes a team friendly is maximum DPS, there would only be 2-3 AT's you could play, and 2-3 powersets...So it stands to reasons that 80% of people in the game are not "team friendly". If team friendly is, "I am a player who does as much running and chasing as you do, faceplants as often as you do, and sticks to every mission thru to the end, and has fun while doing it", then that again sounds like a player behavior, not a power behavior... I'm not going to address the phase shift, as it's a non-sequitur...If that's really happened to you, then I am sorry...but that would be the very first time I have ever heard that mentioned on the forums...But since Phase Shift is a singular power, with a different purpose than KB, it's not relevant.... -
When you think someone is playing their AT "wrong" ...
justicebeliever replied to PaxArcana's topic in General Discussion
What's hard to understand, is how just a few players in the game, are trying to define a behavior that people see as fun as "nasty","putrid","disruptive"... Are there times KB can be overused? Sure...But I've never heard a complaint in all my time using it, and many other players on this thread have shared the same... And I have definitely had more people (myself included) pull multiple spawns onto the team and watch them all wipe (in my defense, I would NEVER do this intentionally)...But that's a player behavior, not a power behavior...And that's where the conversation should stay... -

For a guy who doesn't play in PUG's on this game, you are awfully judgmental about how other people lead their teams... It's a game yes, but it's an MMORPG, and there are going to be a wide swath of definitions of "fun". For some people, myself included, challenge is the fun...I don't mind parts of the game feeling like "work" to me, if I find the end goal worthwhile...I also enjoy RP'ing alot, and engaging (at least mentally) with the actual content and storyline...But that's me...For other people fun might be how much Influence they can get, or having the best build, or steamrolling a map in the fewest minutes possible...I'm OK with all of these...this isn't boardgame night at my house, it's an open to the world game... So, would I kick someone for using KB, even spraying enemies all over the map...I can't see me doing that, I love it too much. Would I kick someone for door sitting? Or just taking a dirt nap the whole time to earn XP? Absolutely...because for me, the fun in having a team is the interaction...and if someone is just camping, then they can be replaced by someone who will participate, and increase MY funs/second... So I know that you hate people being judgmental (sincerely, I know this about you), but if you are going to have the motto of "Let people play how they want to play", then let them do so as Team Leaders as well...because otherwise, if you remove their agency as team leader, they won't want be having fun anymore, and the game just lost a player who wasn't contributing negatively at all... -
I wasn't saying there are 2 sides, though sometimes there are...just that the data is useful to start investigating why sets/AT's are unpopular, and that not all solutions involve power changes... Regarding your specific suggestion of alternate powers, it's been veto'ed already (clearly Rage is still popular, but it's this comment that matters, not the Rage debate, which sadly is still all the rage)

Clearly not...and if it's that important to you...decide what's MOST important, being right and continuing this thread on the necessity of politeness, or getting your issue addressed by apologizing and moving back to your topic...

You keep responding to everyone whose calling you on this by deflecting blame...If you really want to focus on the KB issue, just apologize and move on...If you want people to keep calling you out, keep deflecting blame to someone else or some other generation... It'd be neat to see someone from the older generation model responsibility to the younger generation..."Your right, it's clear it's offensive...I didn't mean to be, or maybe I did a little, but regardless, I am sorry to whoever it's offended"...

And? I'm not going to stress someone's motivations...If the motivation is bad, but the change is good...I'm down with that...If the motivation is pure, but the change sucks, I'll give a /jranger (with a reason of course)... For example..how do these cause you stress? And the OP, as you mentioned, was pretty clear about his PvP viewpoint, it wasn't like he was being sneaky...- 25 replies

This is all I know - -
The current code doesn't allow this at all, the cap is baked into all NPC's for all AT's...You raise it for Tanks, and it goes up for everyone else... That's not to say the current code couldn't be changed, but it's significantly harder than just changing a number, and thus far the Dev's have been reluctant to want to take that on...probably for the technical as well as the same reasons that Pax mentioned. (Damnit, I've got to stop agreeing with him...) 😉

It physically pains me to the point of aspirin, but I agree 100% with Pax... Also, it doesn't bother me at all to agree with Pax, he's a good egg!

QFT! As with all things there is a balance...there is a time for serious DPS ("Master of" anyone?), and there is a time to be silly and just watch 'em fly. KB's can adapt, as can Herder's, Trollers and Alpha Strikers...most of the time, teams are just fine with KB, most of the time, the KB'er is playing considerately...There are exceptions, and sadly, it is the human condition to remember a few bad times and extrapolate that to being "all the time"... -

Sentinel is a 100% SCoRE creation...wouldn't call it "content", but it is really cool to have a new AT...There seems to be some bad blood about the Guardian AT between the servers...It's funny that HC and SCoRE have been all about going in new directions with the game, and the other server with the "Guardian" is trying to stick to as close as the game was when it sunset, but it's HC that's running with the ball with NCSoft... -

You are not seriously suggestion in something as somber and sobering as a Superhero themed MMORPG that FUN triumphs over DPS? Talked about a skewed perspective.... 😋 -
I think there is utility in using the popularity data to evaluate sets...I don't think we should assume that always means that set is fundamentally broken...but in an ideal state, you would want a lot of parity between AT's, and Powersets...it would mean that people are finding them equally fun, and it means the game has a lot of room to keep people engaged, and playing, over the long term... I also agree that lack of popularity does not equal "this set/AT is broken". As @GM Sijinsaid, there could be a lot of reasons, but each of them has some remediation...Crappy animations/doesn't look cool means some animation/art work...People don't understand how it works? Start some Q&A with a developer on the forums, get those promoters on board and you'll see an uptick...Caters to a small niche? Increase the need for that niche...

Haven’t tried for that one yet, and yes it sounds inconsistent...But regardless to get that badge awarded, you will have to go Rogue anyway, just switch over and log off

A lot more? How many were there before HC? How many still are working on it? I haven’t a clue myself, since SCoRE is pretty secretive and HC isn’t clear on who does exactly what (I’ve only seen Leandro and Captain Powerhouse as true Developers). And all of the content I listed was SCoRE. I haven’t seen any new content from HC. Regardless, I’m not trying to diminish the value of what they’ve done overall to the game. They’ve made a lot of great changes...just not a lot of content. Yes, I have seen the incredible amount of assets that they have repurposed for the bases. But they are existing art assets not new ones. Again, not diminishing, because of all the assets they have repurposed, bases have become amazing places in a way we never saw on Live. -
LOVING the /roleplaying tag. But...

A Magenta-ish color is already taken by the "Help Me" tag...I don't like the Purple either, but it needs to be readily different than the Help Me tag even from a distance...
