Make the early game fun: Remove TOs/DOs.
justicebeliever replied to kenlon's topic in Suggestions & Feedback
Then what would be the difference between lvl 1 and lvl 50? The characters are super at lvl 1, regardless...They have powers from the get go...They are not gods, but even Superman misses, and gets hurt, and hell, even dies...As has Captain America, Iron Man, Hulk, Bucky Barnes, Jean Grey, Wolverine, Professor X, Batman, Barry Allen, Hal Jordan, and on and on... -
A.) NCSoft already knows we exist - we were an article in Newsweek a few months ago...the risk of them shutting us down already exists, with or without negotiation B.) Because of A, negotiation is the best chance to ensure we continue to exist at all, and hopefully, on terms that are favorable to HC and the community

You can only get Day Job points by logging out, so it doesn't matter where in the base you are when you log out. What matters is where you were BEFORE you were in the base, since logging out will restore you to the same spot you were in before you zoned into the base So if I zone (using the enterbase command or the base teleporter) to the base from a train station, and log out, I'll earn time on my commuter badge, since that's where I was before I entered the base If I zone to the base from the middle of a map and log out, I'll earn patrol XP and time on my Patroller badge If I go to the base by either a.) going thru a base portal, or b.) standing next to a base portal and zoning to the base, then I'll earn time on my Monitor Duty... Let me know if you need more clarity...hopefully that made sense!
-
The Monitor Duty badge requires you to log out at a base portal. Since logging out from a base puts you in the last spot before you entered, the “poof” won’t help you unless you were standing next to a base portal when you did it...

Well to be fair, if the outcome you are worried about is NCSoft shutting everything down (personally, I’m not worried), then the right course of action would be to ensure you get all that you need from Ourodev before it goes offline (and even with the deal, it really might). Personally, if this all goes that far underground, I’m out...I have no interest in playing this game where the total server pop is 5 or 20....

I always look at the recent updates on the Info Tab, and find them and insert rows in my copy, and the copy/paste those changes...It's a lot easier to copy/move/edit 15 badges than to redo the whole thing...

Most Important Forum Suggestion Ever

If I see something as very helpful, or someone responds to something I asked, I give a Thanks. If I like it for any other reason, it gets a heart... -
Well, duh...C-SPAN is run by Nemesis... And the aliens...and quite possibly the reverse vampires...it's complicated, right?

Some real talk about Ghost of Scrapyard

FWIW - I have YET to hear on any of those other threads that anyone has seen him...It would be great if someone who has found him can share their experience, and at least let those of us who are unsure know that he still exists and hasn't permanently moved on...(don't go into the light, don't do it, we need your badges!!!) -

If you look at the 2 columns, the attuned Training IO is better than the common - you can get it lower than the common IO and get just as much effectiveness... I get that it won't be the same as a level 30 common IO, or even a lvl 15 common IO, but it's still more versatile... I think of the Prestige Enhancements as starter enhancements to speed you on your way, and those things are ridiculously good for the lower levels (with the Procs and all). Not so ridiculous as to change them, but I don't think adding more is the solution... What about Current TO Enh TO Current DO Enh DO Enh Lvl 7 7 17 17 Low Lvl to Slot 4 2 14 13 Eff Until 10 12 20 21 Expanding the lvls that the Enhancement is usuable, and why not revisit the scaling as well... I'd be fine if we gave SO's a slight boost, and make them better than IO's - makes the trade/off more clear - IO's are more cost effective, but SO's are more powerful. Then if DO's where still 1/2 as good as an SO, the DO's get a boost, and so on for the TO's Then increase the drop rate of by dropping SO's for every story arc completion in low levels, and DO's for all team member for any mission complete in the low levels. Finally, increase the lvl at which the TO's drop by 2, and DO's by one, so that people actually have the higher level TO's/DO's sooner.... -

Technically, all common IO's are attuned...that is they exemplar all the way down and sidekick all the way up with you. They % effectiveness doesn't grow either as you level up...So attuning TO/DO/SO's makes them the same as a common IO but without the craft cost or need to get the salvage... -
@AbraxusI'm trusting HC on this one...they say they have a good deal in the works, I have no major reason to doubt them...Personally, I think it was @MunkiLord who suggested that NCSoft want's to do some risk free trial marketing, and that seems the most plausible scenario, given the facts... I find it funny that all the doomsayers feel they have an inside track into the very corporate consciousness of NCSoft...that's the temp power I want... So to be 100% clear, I'm on the side of trusting this will work out, mostly because being a skeptic doesn't have any upside - I have no risk and no control here, so might as well enjoy what I am doing instead of fretting about it...
-
Here's what I want to know...how do I get the corporation mind reading power (knowing what NCSoft will or won't do)? It seem like it would be a handy temp power to have against the Crey...

Based on Jimmy’s response, it sounds like they have been working together since April or May...

Make the early game fun: Remove TOs/DOs.
justicebeliever replied to kenlon's topic in Suggestions & Feedback
If they drop attuned, then they are IO's without the crafting cost. (We are saying the same thing PK). That means we need to give people a reason then to invest in IO's that are at the same level, so it's not just as simple as make DO's into IO's, because then we need to change IO's as well... What if we just extend the range of both TO's and DO's and expand their drops... Currently TO/DO/SO's can be slotted across a 7 lvl spread (3 below, 3 above)...What if TO's when to an 11 lvl spread (5 down/above) and DO's a 9 lvl spread (4 down/above), and we make TO's/DO's more accessible in game so you don't feel that you are having to scrape together 2 inf to just afford a few TO's when you are lvl 5... -
What are my options for challenging content?
justicebeliever replied to Illy's topic in General Discussion
The OP has said nothing of the sort...that's an assumption you are making...I just watched another thread, where people are assuming the same of you, and I know that not to be true of you...Let's not go down the path of knowing how to read forum posters minds... That's wonderful...Different strokes for different folks...there is no one right way or right reason to play the game...Same for the OP (both ways - I'm fine with his reasons, and he has no reason to judge yours) -
That's how long Titan has been in negotiations...I'm wondering when HC joined them

What are my options for challenging content?

Why do most adults outgrow Tic-Tac-Toe but not Scrabble? Because they haven't defined what is challenging? Why do most Spider Solitaire players do 2 suits, instead of 1? Because Tic-Tac-Toe and Single Suit Spider Solitaire represent games that can't be lost with a minimal effort...There is some objectiveness to challenge... Now some people really like Solitaire because it engages the brain and is relaxing, but I don't because there is no challenge in Solitaire, it's almost 100% chance... I'm not saying that the OP has met all the actual challenges in the game, he has been rather vague, but I don't hear any blame...I don't blame Tic-Tac-Toe or Solitaire, I just accept what is and move on...If I hadn't discovered the 2 suit challenge in Spider Solitaire, I would have moved on... While I personally still have challenges in the game (like having one character run all the content, and badge hunting), PvE combat isn't really one of them (there are some exceptions) after lvl 40 for the most part, without nerfing yourself...I haven't done PvP, and I don't think I would be competent at it, so while it would be challenging, very few people like a challenge they would only lose at... -
What are my options for challenging content?
justicebeliever replied to Illy's topic in General Discussion
I just reread the whole thread to make sure I wasn't missing something... I'll agree that we haven't heard from the OP if he has been soloing all of the TF/SF/Trials at +4/8, and I suspect the answer is "not all of them". And I would agree that soloing those at max difficulty is not "nerfing" yourself...that's a real challenge... Also, he hasn't commented on PvP either, which is much more like chess in that you are facing a real opponent, not an AI... However, some of the other things (make a weaker build, master of badges, play a FF defender at all [just kidding PK, I have FF def and I love him]) are forms of "nerfing yourself" (let's call it what it is), but I haven't heard him refuse, he's just saying that's all that remains (which isn't true, unless he has done the above) Regardless, he has not advocated for any change in the game I however, would love to see more difficulty options in the game...does that make me part of .001%? I really don't think so...There are countless threads on this board, about people who feel they have conquered all that there is...are they right? Who knows...but the OP is not alone here in saying it... As I mentioned, PvP caters to a small audience (probably close to 1%), so does redside (10%) and goldside (1%)...and I would advocate for all of those groups to get improvements as well. More challenge <> dev's drop everything to reinvent the game around this.... For some, the game is just casual, for others it's a challenge, for other's it's found wanting...all are welcome here... -
Out of curiosity, how long has HC been in joint negotiations with Titan? Since April?

What are my options for challenging content?
justicebeliever replied to Illy's topic in General Discussion
It's hyperbole, because nowhere was anyone asking for the best of the best content out there... Better content, better challenges <> "best of the best"... The OP doesn't sound elitist...he sounds like most of the veteran incarnates who post on the forums...so more challenges would benefit most of them, not one of them... -

Let me finish that sentence for you ...it's now Field Operative LCD Body coating to become partially invisible... I think the name could mean anything, but the description still about Stealth... -
What are my options for challenging content?
justicebeliever replied to Illy's topic in General Discussion
I am not even sure why you are all arguing...because all of you are right... If you play to win in this game, and build the best possible build, you are going to quickly find that the content isn't that much of a challenge...Anyone who's been on these forums, has seen post after post of "I solo'ed a whole bunch at +4/x8". The AI for most of the content in the game just isn't that difficult...So if you are the competitive sort who want's to build the best they can and still be challenged, you won't find that here in PvE. The only solution? Yes, to nerf yourself...It's 100% true..."Master of" badges are about handicapping yourself for specific challenges... And yes, it would be possible to make something harder, and I frankly hope they do, because I would love a more challenging AI in the game...but it would be expensive to develop, and most players might not ever see the value in it, but many would (this whole 99.99% it total hyperbole, and those of you saying know that) - same can be said with PvP, City of Villains, Going Rogue, etc...there are just so many parts of the game that cater to a smaller audience... It what it is, and all of you are right...so apart from assuming the worst of each other and nitpicking who said what, when, look at what you are really saying here... -
Brute/Tanker has increased my popcorn intake quite a bit.

I think the forums are almost as, if not moreso , entertaining than the game itself... so much so I am not sure which would cause more sadness...losing the game? Or losing the forums... Wait - we aren’t being moved to the Titan forums as part of this, are we? (Now the real panic sets in)
