... or use a keybind (mine is "Shift + Left-click"). As long as I don't run out of END, I can cross a zone at about the height of the 10th to 15th floor in perfect safety. Going END-o does mean going splat, though. :D Yeah, that's a great bind, arguably required on a Teleport build, and yeah you can get by without Hover/Fly on a Teleport toon - but even with the bind there's still the risk of lagging out or getting distracted and then falling. (My Ice/Storm Corruptor uses ctrl+click for Freezing Rain, shift+click for Ice Storm, Button4+click for Tornado, and 5+click for Blizzard. Believe me, I find that bind indispensable in more ways than one. It'd be challenge to find another convenient modifier key for Teleport if I had it. :P Don't even remember what I ended up using on my teleporting Ice/Storm Controller back on live. I will say this: TP is useful for people who want to herd stuff around with Hurricane.) Anyway, the point is that teleport isn't a great travel power all by itself, and it's in a pool filled with powers that are more or less obsolete nowadays. I love the Teleportation Power Pool...Recall Friend is awesome when you regularly do PUG's...there is always some one getting lost or lagging behind. TP Foe, is a great Pull Power, and Long Range Teleport Rocks...Team Teleport is worthless, unless you have Pets, in which case I am told it's great...

Nice...all the Wile E. Coyote powersets only cause damage to you. Just when you are about to deliver the final death (defeat) blow to the AV, an Anvil drops on your head. +1 Inf Marine!

I have to say this is really good advice for Role Play! And Forum Posting... And Teaming... And RL! +1 Zolgar

This confuses me. Are you saying adding Flight Speed enhancements to Fly doesn't make you fly faster? Yes, without Afterburner, Fly speed is already at cap, and Fly Enhancements do nothing. With Afterburner, you can slap in Enhancements into Fly, Afterburner, even Swift, and they will ALL make you go faster... The problem here is in defining what it is you can phase through exactly. MOBs? Might be useful in some cases. Buildings? The engine certainly isn't set up for that as there's nothing "inside" the buildings in the city. Even phasing through walls within a door mission would be problematic. It's a valid concept, I'm just thinking about it game-engine-wise. In the end, it's the same problem with wall running. One thing I thought might be fun is if you could go into a "move so fast you seem to be in multiple places" attack. Kind of like a one-person Gang War. Like, suddenly a bunch of you appear and dog pile your target in a chaotic mass of attacks, then run off. Might be weird with ranged ATs but it could be made to work. Not quite this (jump to 1:40) but along the same idea. I'd be down with this as well...

It's probably just too many arguments for the Macro to store...There is a limit, and it might be 3? Here's a great guide: http://www.dgath.com/coh/CoH-CoV-Technical-Guide-v271.pdf

I'm somewhat in agreement here... I agree that if Lore-Centric RP'ers want to be exclusive with other Lore-Centric RP'ers they can and should be allowed to.. But a few thoughts on their interactions with others.. 1.) If you say you are looking for a Lore-Centric RP Group...please be clear in the LFG channel that's what you are looking for... 2.) If you are in Local chat, and someone butts in with a non lore centric comment, be kind...say "LOL", "TY", or whatever's correct, and if you need more privacy, go somewhere else... 3.) Before I would criticize ANYONE in RL or the Game, unless they are asking for criticism, I would first make an investment in getting to know them. Almost no-one likes off the cuff criticism from a stranger...So unless you are willing to "dumb down" to their level for a mission, or spend 5 minutes interacting with them, non-critically, either OOC in chat, or doing lite RP, you really shouldn't be given off the cuff criticism, period.

Well, sure. There are zones where Fly has something of an advantage over SS just as there are zones where teleport has advantages of SS or SS has an advantage over the others. I still feel SJ and teleport is faster in Faultline than fly - but that's my opinion. I'd agree with this as well...each travel power brings something to the game...SS's big something, besides going as fast as you can manage on the ground, is +Stealth, -Threat. Fly has a huge advantage in that you can just go above the fray...Though I dare say, none of these powers work well in Terra Volta...they got you covered on all sides there. Teleport has a lot of advantage on the map - just click and go there...No one can get in your way (well, except walls). I haven't played with SJ very much (just took it for the 1st time on a character, and I like it, but can't really judge it's overall effectiveness). Teleport also gives you Recall Friend and TP Foe, which can be VERY advantageous...Fly gives you Hover (+DEF, better for indoor missions) and Afterburner. And Super Speed gives you nothing else travel related (which is admittedly, a bummer). You kind of need to look at the whole set. Like I said, I would be fine if Fly enhancements made fly go faster. If that's how you want to spend your slots (I would) then that's the benefit you should get. Maybe SS should get a "Phase" power similar to the Conceal set, but somehow unique to SS? I love it if you could run vertically, but I now that's out of the question due to game mechanics...Maybe SS takes Jump Enhancements and gets a boost there? IDK... Also, I am thinking of the Golden Age Airwave who used roller skates to ride on electric/telephone wires...I want that power...

What does World of Warcraft do better than Cox?
justicebeliever replied to Hobbes1266's topic in General Discussion
I'll say it again...without Big Corp, there would be NO CoH. Sure Cryptic, a small studio came up with the code, but they had not the ability to host it or manage subscribers... When that Small Studio got a lucrative contract from Marvel to build an MMO, without Big Corp to sell CoH to, the game would have shuttered after 3 years instead of 8... It's easy to hate Big Corp...and Big Corp gives a lot reasons to...but they are *required* to make profits for their shareholders, and many of those shareholders are retirees who would otherwise be left to Soc Sec if the Big Corps weren't provided returns on investment... It's like that crass uncle that you see at family get togethers, you totally hate him, but that one time you were in jail and he was the only one who answered, he showed up paid your bail. You don't like him, but you don't want him to die...(I realize this is an ANALOGY, corporations aren't family members, but ANALOGIES provide some truth to the matter) -
How about some more obscure travel powers? I want to turn into sand and move across the terrain like the Sandman... Or Hydro-man and just travel the piping and waterways of the city... Or turn into a lightning bolt and travel as that... Or ride the top of a tornado... Or go really, really obscure, and get vehicles...

For those who don't play Redside - why not?
justicebeliever replied to Legree's topic in General Discussion
The solution is simple. Don't "get" teams. Start them. Then you can play whatever you want, whenever you want. On the lowest population server right now, there's 54 villains, right now, during a "low" time: I'm certain that you can convince seven of them to team with you if you want a full team. With the fantastic way that the sidekicking/exemplaring system works, they're still making their XP/Influence no matter what (https://paragonwiki.com/wiki/Sidekick), so... if there's a problem, it's not with the game. PK's there's a great thread on the ease and difficulty of forming teams...https://forums.homecomingservers.com/index.php/topic,5780.0.html It's really easy for some, and harder for others...It's not mechanically hard and doesn't require any advanced knowledge about the game...But there are alot of people (myself included) who struggle forming teams...Read the thread, see if it shows where some of the difficulty is... -

I don’t understand what you are saying. The use of Miss and Mrs. date back several hundred years. Specifically, because men are always called Mr., a growing movement of women started using Ms. to have a form of address that doesn’t define any marital status. The “complainers” if you will, agreed with you. So if you are being consistent with Mr., the Ms. is the appropriate form of address. I’m not for a second saying you can’t call every woman Miss. it is improper English, but pretty high on the pedantic scale, so no one (myself included) would care and most wouldn’t even know.

Repeatable Portal Missions in Peregrine/Grandville
justicebeliever replied to Zumberge's topic in Suggestions & Feedback
i’m a +1 for this. -
That's exactly what we're doing. We're just taking away limbs like arms and legs, until he's old enough to know not to hit people and gets a job, so he has his own money for the medical costs of having the limbs reattached. That's what I did with my oldest kid...just had the Dr. remove his vocal cords, and I sold them back to him when he was 18..+1 Doc...

I'm a lot overwhelmed searching for an appropriate mission. I'm NOT looking to farm. I have no problem with it...it is just not my interest. I'm really looking for a canon-based mission or set of missions that would make for a fun experience with some new content. What do you recommend? I'm interested in Hero Missions only...again, no problems with rogues, vigilantes, villains, insurance salesman, or lawyers in the game (wait pretty sure the last 3 were all the same). I'm just a Heroside kinda guy. What would be good in the Very Short, Short, Medium, Long, and Very Long Categories? What's good <lvl 10, 10-20, 20-30, 30-40, 40-50? I know there are some really creative missions that you all have done, and I have been putting off playing them for too long...

Echosam, That’s how I recollect as well. My wife’s a teacher and women’s titles are rather important there.
-
I guess I see a difference in the sense that some women are very particular about how the are addressed. Would there be a difference for you if one was Miss Liberty and Mrs. Liberty? I’m not arguing just curious about your viewpoint

I thought that too...then I just thought I was having a senior moment.

QoL - Jump Enhancements for Jump Height
justicebeliever replied to Replacement's topic in Suggestions & Feedback
So my ninjutsu character, running Ninja Run and the /ninjutsu move speed power in tandem, thematically -- you're saying this character should have to toggle that off for a "real" travel power to get over these things, and that's what the balance of this game hinges on? I'd honestly be happier if Ninja/Beast Run were slot-able pool powers, but that's not the universe we live in, so there is no reason to oppose this outside of required man-hours. There can be lots of opposing reasons...that a pretty closed mind set that says you have to agree with me because I can't be wrong... I get wanting powers that fit your theme, I've run into that my frustration myself...I stand by the status of Beast/Ninja run...better than sprint, less powerful than any of the travel powers...If you want to travel better/faster/higher, take the hit and get a travel power...Not everything gets to work out thematically with your character and the available powers. You can get a jump pack for free...Ninja's can use jet packs, right? The Tsoo are like ninja's and teleport...Ninja's as normal mortals, typically can't jump super high. Come up with some reason in your theme to make it work. Now I am totally in favor of freeing up the animations from beast run/ninja run and other P2W travel powers to make them fit the regular travel powers...What do you think of this thread? https://forums.homecomingservers.com/index.php/topic,5704.0.html -
Well, here's the most recent history on the issue. Initially I was very, very against it, but I was coming around a little. But it's not the direction Homecoming wants to go: https://forums.homecomingservers.com/index.php/topic,5709.0.html

In the comics, superspeed "ultimate" powers often involved some level of reality-bending that just won't work in a multiplayer game. Things like bullet time, or time travel, or phasing through solid objects. I mean imagine trying pull off the Quicksilver "Time in a Bottle" sequence in CoH. Speed should, of course, carry an inherent defense bonus and an inherent slow resist, but that doesn't feel very "ultimate." I guess a rapid attack could work mechanically but we already have Flurry and Whirlwind. If the game engine supported it, running up walls and buildings might have just been fun and useful enough to be an answer to Afterburner. (Also, on a side note, when running with Super Speed on water, we should actually run, not Super Swim. But that's neither here nor there.) Regardless, about the OP, I say thee nay. Fly speed is fine as is. +1 EggKooKoo

QoL - Jump Enhancements for Jump Height
justicebeliever replied to Replacement's topic in Suggestions & Feedback
Isn't that what taking Super Jump, Fly or Teleport solves? Isn't that the point of those powers - to get places you couldn't get to before faster? Ninja run/beast run are supposed to be better than sprint (they are) and less than a travel power (so they should stay)... -
Better than devolving into what many of them do...What can I say, you start a good post...

Loitering Plea... how to contribute to easing traffic.
justicebeliever replied to EiricEPadraig's topic in General Discussion
How about just going to either BAB or the Icon tailor (just W of the hospital) to make extended costume changes? Yes, you get six costume slots right off the bat, but you don't have to set them all up right away. Your costume and power customization is free before level 10; you should be able to make it to either one of those to set up your other costume slots, rather than bunching up around Ms. Liberty. But while you and I might (and in my case have) made that decision...we aren't going to sway people to do so, and certainly not with a forum post...People just love to crowd around Ms. Liberty...She is the A-list of A-listers. People gather for CC, forming DFB, level up. They will stay in front of here for a very long time looking things up afk. I think it's really come done to a systemic solution or just live with it...
