  1. I think both are true. It is definitely a server side issue, however I am not seeing the issue anywhere else except Atlas Park, and always see when entering Atlas Plaza. The music goes off as I enter the Plaza and then I am snapped back
  2. +1 Inf. But to get the Dr. Evils Unbridled Loathing to fully Perma Haten, you need to go thru 4 years of medical school missions...Otherwise you just have Mr. Evil's Unbridled Loathing...
  3. I'm not sure I would call myself or Citadel pathetic...maybe optimistic that you can do 2 things in the same mission without sacrificing either goal... In the terms of real life, I would agree with you Shinobu...In terms of this mission, it is easily the case, that if you have the power to do something (save Todd and defeat the council), and you've chosen the duty of doing so (by accepting the mission), then yes, I would say if you let Dr. Todd die, you are NOT a true hero. Stepping out of morality however, this rule is not applied consistently. The Renault SF (Villain side) does require hostage rescue or you fail the SF...So if even an out and out villain can save the hostage, I'm confident that the slightly higher ethical code of a vigilant or rogue can handle it as well.
  4. It’s gone to the Americans... I Perma Haten that....
  5. Hero Corps' colours are two tone blue, Freedom Corps which is a non-profit organisation (although financed in large part by NATO donations) is the one backing Longbow and its Red Cross coloured uniforms. :P You still get paid in Freedom Corps though, to allow for heroes to work full time if they want. Unpaid vigilantes with secret identities (or even public identity heroes who choose to go unpaid for some reason) definitely exist though. I stand corrected... (I was just being silly)
  6. I'm getting an error that it requires one of the following versions of the .Net Framework: .NetFramework, Version=v4.7.2 It then asks me if I want to install it, which I say YES to, and then it installs and I reboot my computer. And I get the same error again when clicking setup... EDIT: 2nd install of .Net Framework removed the error....Now I click the shortcut and get...Nothing... I'm not sure what the executable is or where it's installed, so I can't check to see if it's even running in the background...
  7. That's a bit facetious. There are plenty of preferences that can be voiced that aren't forcing anything on others. I'd prefer it if Null had a no-fx option for barrier. It'd help me see better in caves and wouldn't bother anyone. That's entirely different from wanting to change how a TF works for everyone because it doesn't fit someone's concept of heroism. These boards are full of suggestions like that. Everyone should stop speeding because i like to read the stories... Stop PLs because I like to level slowly... Change how the market works because I'm not able to make money the exact way I did on live... That's fair, and HC's philosophy has definitely been about enabling choices, not restricting them...And for the record, I like the philosophy. Read my posts, I am all about not pushing leveling choices on people. But regardless we are going to face some choices where only one group can be satisfied...Build Changes, Power Changes, IO Set Changes, what not. Now for this specific change, the game is not consistent. Renaults SF fails if you don't rescue the hostage (and that's on the villain side). Moonfire, admittedly, is pretty hard to have the hostage die, unless everyone just abandons her. Lady Grey is the one driving most of the discussion here... Again, fair point. I would argue that game mechanics are the reason to impose limits. With these missions, it is a mission objective, and failing a mission objective should have consequences. I will say that in 100% of the PUG's I have been on, neither I nor anyone else has ever had the conversation you are describing, but again, that's not saying that it is rocket surgery either. If you are running TF's solely for speed, then I'm unclear why you would pick Moonfire at all...it's a total slog, and unnecessary for any accolades. And IMHO, the most BORING of all the TF's (Hey, wow, the council's in a cave again...for the eight time). If you are going for speed records and a change is made, then the playing field is still level and no harm, no foul. You've made some good points, Veelectric Boogaloo. +1 Inf
  8. Sorry, I wasn't understanding...The Store doesn't stop you from getting either the Nemi Staff with Bonus or the Blackwand with Bonus, it just only let's you pick one. Your origin will still determine IF you get the bonus I believe...And I believe Natural Origins are why it's so hodge-podgy like this. So Magic Origin can get the Nemi staff with Bonus, but the actual attacks won't get the bonus because you are not Natural, Science, or Tech.
  9. Happy Independence Day Toast! If you are in the US, I hope you have a grand celebration with fireworks, BBQ, and laughter...and my favorite: beer! If not, then I still celebrate Freedom with you wherever you are, and still hope you have BBQ, laughter, and beer. (Unless you are vegan, have wheat allergies, or avoid alcohol, in which case I still wish for laughter for you.) Easy there big guy...I know this...I called out exactly that about Lady Grey...However the OP and myself also mentioned Moonfire, which IS a heroic task force. And a comparable Strike Force (Villains only) does require rescue of the hostage or the TF fails and must be redone. True! Again, I mentioned that just because a thing was so, doesn't mean in needs to stay so. Saying NO to something because it is a change, is not in itself a valid reason. What do you personally prefer about the current way? It is a MMORPG (MMO Role Playing G). So I think immersion in the world is 100% part of the experience...If you think pretending to be a super hero or super villain is dumb or stupid, then I am not sure why you are here...And all of the missions/contacts have story content and objectives that range the comic book gamut from Do-Gooder to Morally Conflicted, etc...So again, I'm not really sure I understand. There are all sorts of rescue hostage missions that require you to rescue the hostages...Are those also objectionable to you? Maybe they are...IDK... This is absolutely a Hero game. It is also absolutely a Villain game. It can be more than one thing. It's not a lot of things, but it can be more than one thing. So hero content can be heroic, and villain content should be not so much. If we are going to go a moral route, then I agree that there aren't absolutes in morality.. But if we are going to talk about personal morality, I sincerely hope we both agree that if someone has the ability and duty to rescue someone else, and chooses not to, then they are a coward and morally wrong. I want to be clear here that I do not for a moment believe you think this, so I assume that we both agree that we share the same morality in this. I'm 99.99% sure you are saying that "video game" morality isn't the same as "real life" morality...and I would agree that we can express our desire to sometimes do immoral things in video games and that's OK (hence City of Villains). You mentioned the Family...the Mafia is a real life group of "villains", but the game does not play to the "italian" side in any way. Nazi's are real life super villains...and in the game, you can only EVER be opposed to them, even on the villain side. No where does it glorify them. But on the hero side, I would love to see our shared "real life" morality be the core story element. And it is for the most part...so I am still unclear on your objection to the hero side changes... I guess, I am asking, why do you like the current content. I'm still mostly hearing, don't change it because I don't like change...And if that's the only reason, that's fair, but it doesn't really need all the justification you are giving it... I'm not trying to pick a fight, so if I am getting your blood pressure up, just say so, and I'll let it go. I truly want you to enjoy your Holiday (or my Holiday if you are outside the US), and not be angry at that guy who really just doesn't seem to get your POV...
  10. You likely have as much info about him as the rest of us, i.e. that he is merely a gifted surgeon, and nothing more. Personally, I'd make him a completely non-magical Scrapper, load him up with everything in the Medicine pool, and advertise him as a healer. I'm not sure about this idea. Scrappers have fighting skills, unlike Stephen Fayte, who is merely a gifted surgeon, and nothing more. Well, he wants the world to think he is nothing more than a gifted surgeon...I imagine, he's a little more fun at parties than the scant info given let's on... "So Stephen, what do you do for fun"..."I am merely a gifted surgeon, nothing else" "Well, what did you do for fun as a kid"..."Pretended to be a gifted surgeon...nothing else" "Favorite Movie?"..."The Good Doctor" "Well that's more a tv show, then a movie"..."What do I know? Only that I am a gifted surgeon"
  11. There is some grammar issue in the 2nd sentence, so I am not fully sure I understand...but with a Natural Origin you can use either the Blackwand or Nemi Staff and get the bonus. But you can't get both items with the Bonus (the store shouldn't let you make the purchase). If you are any other origin you can ONLY use one of the items to get the bonus, not either...Magic, Mutation for Blackwand and Science, Technology for Nemi...
  12. Happy Independence Day to all my friends in the USA, and to people who live in freedom everywhere, know that the US rejoices with you! Well, I am becoming more and more convinced that "we" are the server runners...Not suggesting it's a nemesis plot, or that HC is doing an incredible amount of work, but I am suggesting that they are open to other people with the skills and passion to take on pet projects like this. If you have a great idea, or see someone else's great idea on the boards here, and you have the time, will and skill to make it happen...I'd be the first to champion it and pushing the Dev's to let you make it happen... Now nothing is going to happen as quickly as it did when there was a dedicated, paid development staff, so I get that...but we have +100K members, and I am sure that if even 0.1% have passion and skills, that's 100 people, who if working on a passion project at only 5 hrs/week, can do the work of 12 full time devs... We aren't there yet, and it would helpful if HC would help to champion this idea, but I think it's doable, I think it's likely, and I think it would be awesome...
  13. It takes mad skills to perma Haten. A pure legend! Is Perma Haten going to lead to people dupin rares and jerk hacking? (Is Perma Haten this boards first thing)?
  14. That would mean a moratorium ALL suggestions...There is no one suggesting anything on this board that isn't someone's personal preference... It's fine to voice that you don't like a change, but let's not turn it into people "forcing" anything. A suggestion doesn't involve force. No one is forcing anything except the HC Dev's...And even then, they aren't forcing you to play here... So rather than polarize the issue into us vs them, share why it would ruin your fun...
  15. This was my thought as I thought it was dif based TBH. I "think" I've seen as many as say 1:10-15 standard NPCs. I know one mish had like 5+, but it was laden with counsel. Found this, it has numbers. That's good Aries - it has great numbers
  16. I'd + this if I didn't think that it would have an effect on CCs (you'd get a BIG cry about it). CC's = costume changes? I wouldn't think we would dampen that as they are a power...
  17. Life Philosophy for a long time now: "Expect nothing from anyone and everything you get is a gift." Now see, you just raised the stakes for yourself Aries...I was being ridiculous and stupid, and here are you being pithy and wise...+1 Inf
  18. Toast - It's ok you have an objection, but there is by no means an overwhelming consensus here...most of the posters have advocated for some kind of change...so even if it's a moral objection, it's one that so far, is supported... It is a video game, but it is a video game about heroes, and like it or not, many heroes (not all) have moral codes they adhere to, so it's not unreasonable to make the request. However, I am sensing (not assuming, so please correct me if wrong), that you find even the request unreasonable...Can you elaborate? Beyond the moral, there is also the fact that rescuing the hostages are a mission objective, and on a task force, where "the stakes are higher", it might make sense to increase the "stakes" in completing the objectives. I don't think anyone is fervently advocating for the entire TF to fail, so that shouldn't be the objection/concern anymore... I'm on the fence with Lady Grey...it could be argued that for a mixed mission some villainy should be allowed...but it still is a mission objective, and as was mentioned, the Renault Strike Force does FAIL the TF if the "hostage" isn't rescued...So there is also precedent On the Hero side, I'm more than OK with a larger penalty for failing to rescue Roberta Todd on Moonfire's TF... Finally, we should resist the argument that we shouldn't make changes in things that have been around for years. If that's the case, Homecoming should already be a massive disappointment, because MANY things have changed. So we evaluate each change as suggested, and we can decide to throw it out on it's merits or propose it, but we shouldn't be bashing ideas just because they change something. The old content ISN'T a sacred cow, and I've heard alot of people suggest that content refreshes would be very welcome. Otherwise, let's change the name of this board to just "Feedback"...
  19. Except you can just email things to yourself. But you can only send things one at a time with email. You can manage salvage, inspys, and enhancements much easier with tables and racks
  20. I don't know why, but seem people get very upset when you mention PL'ing...Since you are a veteran, you know this issue goes all the way back to Issue 0... I don't PL, but I won't give anyone any grief for how they enjoy the game as long as they aren't being a bother to someone else... Since it didn't happen, and I don't want you to think that's how we all roll here - Welcome Back to City of Heroes, "Where the forums are more dangerous than Dark Astoria"...(Seriously, welcome back)
  21. I'm watching you now Zep...always watching... :)
  22. Isn't the point of hiring somebody to help create the non-profit, is to remove the difficulty. Why else hire somebody? Funds are usually the limiting factor when trying to hire a Pro, but at this time, funds should not be an issue. I'm not sure exactly what you are saying...If Homecoming's "business model" prevents them for legally becoming something, how does a Pro fit into that? Even if a "Pro" is willing to do something that is not exactly kosher, it won't absolve HC of any impact. If you are saying, it's too soon to count them out because a Professional will likely have some advice that I'm not providing, then yes, I agree...this is not my deepest area of expertise and there may be legal angles I am missing...however, that doesn't stop needless speculation, a function that is a requirement on any forum...
  23. Did you restart tequila before trying to launch the Beta Server? Edit: Just saw the note that Justin (Beta) will be down until Midnight Tomorrow (UTC) https://forums.homecomingservers.com/index.php/topic,5283.msg51571.html#msg51571
