  1. Ultimately go with your gut. I spent a few minutes reconstructing the following build a bit as a little experiment. I kept most your power selections, reallocated some slotting, and changed sets around to softcap ranged and then start pumping into typed. This is designed to play with kinetic shield, a cheap p2w temp power to boost s/l defense, but its probably not needed. Cycling Clarion radial, Support radial, or Demonic/Eye of the Magus keeps you softcapped to pretty much all except psi/toxic. This also is immune from recharge and slow debuffs, because the winter sets, so its expensive. I wouldn't expect anyone to build this out, but its just an exercise in theorycrafting. every attack can ignite OSA as well.
  2. I was thinking Fire/Strength Manipulation myself. Double Stacked Rage Infernos and Blazes.
  3. The PvP Community noticed both the Arena in Galaxy City and Talos disappearing.
  4. Or alternatively, you could make a defender and build it to play in melee range. Poison and Kinetics are a couple of examples of supportive buff/debuff sets designed for melee play.
  5. My understanding of the conversation and mind you I wasn't in the room but the idea was to nuke a starter zone that was redundant to it's respective side blue, red, or gold. Apparently the idea of nuking Atlas was floated but was quickly nixxed because of the perceived outcry that would ensue. Galaxy City is currently home to GM Bot. Reconstruction efforts haven't started to my understanding, as the game's story was severed when the game shutdown. What the future may hold, who knows. That said Galaxy City was the better blue side starting zone.
  6. Incidentally I used the number generator here and it actually gave me my most recent Defender project the Cold/Rad. I guess that's fate to lay off rolling new toons for a bit.
  7. Little weekend update... So I built the cold/rad, and have it dark for an ancillary power set for Oppressive Gloom, Dark Embrace, and Soul Drain. It's sitting at vet lvl 5 or 6 currently, and I through together a build for it where I got it working how I envisioned. It turned out to be pretty resilient, I have 45.18% to melee, 45.8% to ranged and AoE, and also the inclusion of Oppressive Gloom helps stun the trash as I lay down the debuffs. Ageless radial for DDR and to keep Benumb/drain soul perma with sleet double stacked. The amount of defense debuffs is essentially keeping mobs defense floored which makes it easy for myself and any teammates. Additionally the -res from double stacked sleets and my -res procs helps make the attacks punch through not just for me but also the team. I kept ice shield and glacial one slot mules for LoTGs as that suits my playstyle. Overall so far it's turned into a pretty fun defender, and I'm working on incarnates and accolades. I also want to give it a test whirl for some doubles PvP or maybe small teams as well.
  8. The idea of adding epic power sets to ATs is reasonable given that they are balanced. Otherwise it promotes build diversity, and increases replayability, which are two good things to have in an aging game. I think a larger pass at adding multiple epic power sets across each AT (yes Kheldians and VEATs included) would make for a good idea of a feature of a Page expansion.
  9. It's hard to offer a precise suggestion without seeing your build and slotting so here's all the comments: slot for end reduction, slot stamina with endurance modification, get set bonuses that offer end discount or recovery bonuses, get endurance stat boosting accolades, alpha radial has end mod, aegis can help.
  10. Welcome back to another exciting week. We shift the conversation to discuss exterior zone design. What are your favorite zones? What are your least favorite zones? What environmental elements do you prefer in a zone, such as islands, mountains, water bodies, floating rock formations, forests, etc? Do you like a densely populated cityscape, a volcano base, a suburban setting, a rural setting? What about zone based weather events, fog, day/night cycle, rain/snow? If you could design a brand new zone for Homecoming, what kind of zone would you make? What would it look like? How would it be populated and feel alive? What kind of story would your zone help convey? As always thanks.
  11. Ultimately how you build your character is up to you. I have a beam/energy manipulation blaster that is a hover blaster, that has a moderate amount of defense but kills things at maximum range and I outrange most NPCs. I think your best course of action is to build your character to how you'll enjoy it, so if you want to build defense, which it seems go for it. That doesn't mean you can't add a proc or two on a power to help your damage either.
  12. I glanced at your build while home this morning for about 20 seconds so I didn't really look too in-depth other than to see where your defense was coming from. It's entirely possible to build a blaster to reach the non-incarnate softcap for things like melee & ranged but it requires dedicating a the focus of your build to it. Based on your power selections it looks like your intent is to play at range as a hover blaster. Hovering off the ground away from the melee onslaught will mitigate quite a bit of incoming damage by itself. In that regard you could build for ranged defense fairly easy. Getting Ranged and AoE might be possible but will require more focus of your build. Typed defense typically is sought when you have an idea of what kind of enemies you expect to face, smashing, lethal, and energy damage are the three most common damage types with fire coming in at number 4. People find it relatively easy to build for S/L/E by going the Scorpion Shield route. There are a few methods of using some advanced build techniques to get SLENFC typed defenses to 45% or reasonably close to it on a blaster, I've only actually done that with a /ninja Blaster myself, others may have different experience. Psi and Toxic defense are typically harder to build for on a blaster at least in my experience. If you're planning on being a hover blaster, Evasive Maneuvers is still a great power as it adds more speed and movement control while hovering as well as protecting you from being grounded. Depending on your build and intended playstyle, it may be worth keeping, but adjusting your slotting of it.
  13. Your build is not actually softcapped to any defense in combat as all the defense from Evasive Maneuvers is lost when you attack or click a glowie. Also don't three slot hasten, two slot it and use +5 enhancement boosters on both slots. That will save you a slot.
  14. If I was constrained to either psi or dark secondaries for an illusion dominator.....it would come down to either Drain Psyche vs Gather Shadows & Life Drain. In that case I'd probably go Dark as you get some self healing, and Domination plus a power boost for your mezzes. That said expanded to all the secondaries, I've been vocal about choosing Savage for the recharge/end bonuses and loving the playstyle, and of I didn't pick Savage I would of picked Sonic as that has Bass Boost plus multiple options for -res to help PA.
  15. I have a Kin/Sonic Defender, Fire/Kin Corruptor, Elec/Kin Corruptor. They all work really well. fulcrum shift and siphon speed allows you to focus your set bonuses on survivability. Fire/Kin controllers still work well enough and you can get Fire Imps at lvl 26 now instead of lvl 32. So to put that into perspective that's about 3-4 hours of playing content, or 8 minutes of farming. A Kin is useful on a team especially high content where teams are firing off barriers and such, and has my favorite buff in the game of SB (still boggles me why some people don't like it, I wanna go fast).
  16. I can testify to what Bopper's build here does. Incidentally I made a EM/EA Stalker that ended up with similar power choices due to my character's theme, but surprisingly the slotting is pretty close. You'll hit typed defense soft caps to everything except psi and toxic from like Synapse on (aside of hard mode soft caps). Yes, an EM/EA stalker can be made to be really strong.
  17. If I had 1/20 the talent of Davie504 I'd be a happy man.
  18. There is a test server where you can pop to lvl 50, get free IOs and go test your concept for free. It gets wiped every once in awhile. There's means to copy over your actual characters to it as well up above. By the server status stuff.
  19. This seems like a reasonable fix to keep dead mobs within the effects of dimension shift or black hole able to be interacted with by a Warshade inside the same effect.
  20. I'd be supportive of this as long as there was a Bass Guitar model to use, and the sound fx was some slap. As far as my own idea, I've always been a huge Spawn/Venom fan. Maybe I'm just a fan of Todd McFarlane. But something with some whip like tendrils, weapon shape shifting out as an extension of an arm or something claws or an axe. The more I think of it it would be like Bio Melee. Perhaps a secondary effect of -maxhp on its attacks. And a combo mechanic "critical mass", as each attack strikes it builds up stacks, when it caps out a pbaoe similar to spine burst hax it's maximum targets/ranged increased.
  21. I'll typically participate in a DFB or DIB if I see someone struggling to fill the team. I'm most often on a lvl 50 character. And yes despite some of the previous comments, I find speeding TFs and trials fun as it adds another element to it, I'm also one of the rare people that will run TFs with settings like enemies buffed, enhancements do nothing, etc. on the occasion that the mood strikes (though if I'm not soloing a TF, I'll let the team know the game plan ahead of time when I recruit). When I run a DFB or DIB I'm primarily there because I'm bored and wanted to be "helpful", or probably more accurately perceived as being "helpful". Occasionally someone is just back to the game or so they claim and I may toss them a purple recipe or enhancement in the spam of combat from time to time. Otherwise it's let's help you get the badges and a bit of XP, and then vaya con dios for me. There is a lot of helpful tips in this thread, but the best thing is just getting experience doing the content. Mastery will come with time.
  22. I can see that. I personally don't mind the snipe as it reminds me of an old 1970's cartoon ray gun as far as the blobs of energy and sound fx. The one animation in Rad Blast that I've always felt like it would take forever was Neutron Bomb but the root time and arcanatime aren't bad. It's the almost extra second of animation before the power takes effect on the target that seems slow to me. But since it doesn't root you that whole time, I've become accustomed to it. I typically have a lot of mobility in how I play especially on "Squishies" as a holdover from being a PvP for so many years during the game's original run. I rolled one up last night and gonna give it the old college try.
  23. https://cod.uberguy.net/html/powerset.html?pset=dominator_control.symphony_control&at=dominator Reverberant is a little odd in that the attack powers it inherits are linked to the actual player's powers, so if you click on say Hymn of Dissonance, you'll see a link the the Reverberant's version of the power: https://cod.uberguy.net/html/power.html?power=pets.reverberant.hymn_of_dissonance&at=dominator The powers the Reverberant get are essentially temporary powers that have a limited inventory and a 10 second life cycle that can be extended up to 20 seconds with stacked casts of the player's Hymn of Dissonance, or other power they pass to the Reverberant. Looks like the Reverberant's enhancements are all coming from the actual Reverberant power. I tried to look if it was inheriting any enhancements from the player powers and then being boosted by the Reverberant itself, but looks like the enhancement value all comes directly from the pet.
  24. I suppose one way to really isolate out Reverberant to see if it's the root cause, would be to have an All Symphony Themed Hami Raids where the league loads up degenerative and hamikazes and see how fast Hamidon evaporates. Doing something like that would help rule out interactions with other powersets, which could be a useful means of getting to the bottom of this.
  25. @Sir Myshkinhas a pretty epic storm/energy defender leveraging proc bombs and force feedback recharge procs.
