I have a year old HP gaming laptop, and can confirm they still use very mediocre thermal paste, so that's one of the first aftermarket modifications I recommend. I really like Thermal Grizzly Kryonaut on my rigs.

Talk to me Goose: Theory crafting Cold/Rad
SeraphimKensai replied to SeraphimKensai's topic in Defender
Although I do love a good proc bomb on cold I like hasten and recharge as well for stacking sleet and keeping Benumb perma. Hell you could do burnout in the build and potentially have 15 seconds of 3x Sleet which just sounds unfair to whoever is getting shit on with that. -
Pretty sure degen any any other interface caps at 5 applications. That said I'll do my best to make it tonight and hit you up in guild chat. We can do the first kill with Reverberant and the second kill without or something to see if there's a noticable difference.

Talk to me Goose: Theory crafting Cold/Rad
SeraphimKensai replied to SeraphimKensai's topic in Defender
Cold/Beam works well, I used to run one on the live servers. The powerset combo screams Mr. Freeze, but mine was a disgruntled ice cream truck driver that studied electrical engineering. I think I might boot up a cold/rad to check it out as I can't really think of a reason why not to roll one. I was just surprised that I haven't seen more discussion about them or any in-game. I already have several characters for hard mode including a fire/cold corruptor, but cold/rad just seems like an interesting project toon. -
If I were to make something that had claws and kept coming back to life, I'd make it wear a striped red and green sweater and rock a hat and have burned up skin. Obviously I'm not going to make it, but Freddy would be a Claws/Regen Stalker. I guess after all the sequels Freddy upgraded to having two razor blade gloves.

I cannot in good faith recommend a laptop for gaming that doesn't have a discrete GPU. Can you run CoH on an integrated GPU, possibly but you'll likely suffer from performance issues and latency. Here's a recent article from January that compares lightweight gaming laptops, so maybe the prices are.lower by now....https://www.businessinsider.in/tech-buying-guides/best-lightweight-gaming-laptops/articleshow/83138880.cms

I don't think it's a bug necessarily, but I haven't ran a power analyzer on Hami in a few months. If the baby allows me tonight, I'll bring a power analyzer and my Symphony Domi and see if I can collaborate what you're perceiving.

Combining Cold which is arguably one of the best powersets in the game especially considering hard mode content with Radiation Blast seems to be one of the least used combinations out there. I've seen one post about it which was someone sharing a build without any significant discussion from 2019, and the combo was the 148th most popular lvl 50 Defender combo from the last time Cipher released stats in 2020. The combo on paper seems like there's ample synergy leveraging a ton of debuffing -def (enough to cut through vengeance Nemesis and MoG Paragon Protectors), -res (including ample -res proc options), -regen, -recharge, while granting team stealth, and giving ally defense/resistance buffs. So I wonder why we haven't seen more of these. I see plenty of Cold/Fire and Cold/Ice and their corruptor counterparts. Radiation Blast is an energy damage type, which is the third most resisted in the game, but with the debuffing potential I feel this would still do decent damage for a Defender. Given Defender buff values, I'd imagine it's possible to hit MRA positional soft caps of 45% defense reasonably easy. Sure there's no self heal, but with padded defense and decent resistance (artic fog, tough, dark embrace) could make a pretty resilient Defender. Also with all the Defense based powers (Artic Fog, Ice Shield, Glacial Shield) it makes maximizing LoTG 7.5 bonuses fairly easy too. Because of the Defender Buff values, it makes it a reasonable degree easier to proc slot some attacks as well on a Defender so I could see making a couple decent proc bombs as well. What do you all think? Is there something I'm missing here, or have I potentially found my next project toon?

I think what you're seeing is that non stalkers that have a stealth power the mag is equal to what stealth used to be before stealth was combined with invisibility. So you might be looking at the stealth values of stealth out of combat which would have the same mag as the former invisibility power. The in powerset stealths didn't get their magnitudes increased to invisibility like levels.

I like your idea for doing a mission arc to unlock the one time character do over. My caveat is that the arc is 10,000 missions long and you only get the do over after finishing the final mission. Realistically as others have said it's really trivial to level up a new character. You can make yourself a farmer on a separate account and be able to get a character from 1-50 in several hours these days.

Rule of thumb with Fiery Aura, get your resistances reasonably high, slot enough slow protection to keep Healing Flames from getting frozen. Slot 8mag of kb protection. Otherwise you can layer your overall protection by padding some defense but know that you won't have any DDR short of ageless radial to protect it.

I've thought these kind of self constraints players put on themselves interesting for awhile but I've never been one for self-restraint. I take my MM projects to the extreme where I might run multiple accounts of them. I guess for backstories you could always say that you used to have other minions but overtime they didn't make it whether they died, slowed you down, or just gave you the bird for being the world's worst boss. How do these kinda MMs hold up to the game's content?
-
You've pretty much covered them. I usually just keep hasten on auto and keep Active Defenses near Build up so I can pop them as necessary. But I also like to micromanage my powers and CDs in my head.

Looking for help getting started with controllers.
SeraphimKensai replied to duckman's topic in Controller
Well controllers can be one of the most powerful ATs in the game as they offer a team a huge amount of damage mitigation and buffs/debuffs. They are a true force multiplier. Since you don't have a theme in mind I'll toss out a couple pairings that work well together in no particular order: Electric Control/Dark Affinity Controller. The idea of to work in melee range sapping targets endurance while heavily debuffing their tohit and also regen. Offers a lot of protection, but does mediocre damage itself. Illusion/Storm Summoning. Well built this can solo GMs. The idea is to build for high recharge for Perma PA and 3x Lightning Storms and multiple tornadoes. It can get a bit getting used to knowing when and when not to use Hurricane (but it's a great debuff in itself). Plant Control/Trick Arrow. Quite possibly my favorite controller combo, but it could just be my build but with all the procs, OSA, Carrier Creepers this thing can clear a room faster than a pug blaster. Realistically you can't really go wrong with a controller they all end up doing a great job when you build them. That said pro controller tip, don't open with an AoE immobilize first, let them them clump up before doing so to maximize your AoE damage and debuffs and help your team out. There's too many pug controllers that open with AoE immobilize and it can actually slow a team down by not being able to maximize AoE DPS. God speed. -
Malice of the Corruptor & Scourging Blast, set and proc question
SeraphimKensai replied to Zep's topic in Corruptor
The Stalker's Mark of the Assassin proc is a global enhancement while the procs for corruptors ATOs are not global. Meaning they only effect the power they are slotted in. -
Welcome back to another week. This week we keep it simple to get a snapshot of the playerbase's current projects. So what toon are you working on? What's its AT, powersets, epic/patron. What are your hopes for the toon? Is it being built with a concept you've been working on, or a particular type of content in your mind? As usual thanks again.

This looks like an outdated Necro build. You'll want to work on your attacks from your primary. See this post as it highlights the Necro revamp: When properly slotted Necro/Dark is an absolute beast.

/Earth is alright but doesn't necessarily have a significant synergy with illusion. You can proc slot Force Feedback in multiple powers. 6'5" and 270 is pretty big but I'm down to spar if need be. Let me know if you're coming for me.
-
You're welcome to try, although you won't need to if you give it decent slotting. Besides, I have quite a bit of real-life PvP experience, but I'm usually always up for an MMA sparring match.

The expanded Incarnate system was planned to come into play during the Coming Storm, aka the Battalion Invasion. The intent was that the new content was going to be much more difficult then our current situation incarnate content and use that advanced difficulty to justify the expanded Incarnate system. There's some limited information in-game discussing the Battalion and the Coming Storm, notably in Ouroboros otherwise there was a former developer discussed some of the plans for the story after the game's sunset, which I'm sure someone has a link somewhere.

I personally rolled Ill/Savage/Ice and it works wonders. You get Recharge from Savage which makes PA easier to Perma, and sleet debuffs mobs resistances making PA hit harder. As I've said before, I considered Ill/sonic/ice for more -res as well.

TA is best used with powexec_location binds whether to target a target or the cursor. Using a target, you can actually attack without LoS which is crazy but it works. It doesn't require having a Doctorate of Bind and Macro Theory though, as you build one, it can be copied for all the locational powers that you have.

Veracor hit 20,000 veteran levels over the weekend so that would be a bonus of 200 slots. A standard AT gets 24 power picks, and 67 additional slots (each power pick unlocks 1 slot automatically). That would be enough for someone with that many vet levels to 6 slot every power available including inherents and prestige sprints.
