  1. I pick the AT to run with rad depending on which attacks i like and ended up with ss/rad brute, rad/rad brute, rad/rad tank, psi/rad scrap. The 2 brutes are my favourites, the tanker seems practically unkillable, i've respecced the psi scrap repeatedly and given up on it for now. I like claws alot on both brute and scrapper not so much on tank. Katana i prefer on scrappers. But this is all just personal opinion everyones will differ. You have 1000 slots/server i recommend making a few til you find one that suits your playstyle. A lot will depend on slotting too, are you planning to turn the 2 rad pbaoe's into procced out mini nukes or use them as mules for sets. Will you be building for max resists or bumping your s/l defence. It will all make a difference. Thats why i like to plan out stuff in mids before making toons.
  2. Agreed i don't think much of those bonuses either you have to slot a lot of them to get anything decent its not worth it which is why i throw in the goodies and don't bother with the set bonuses. Its such a useful tool its a power worth consideration.
  3. Handclap with the sudden acc in means you don't have to worry about them flying all over. I was going to suggest turning on offensive adaptation to see actual resist numbers assuming your going to run it for the dps but if you play with efficient on it doesn't matter so much. Red fortune recipes are pretty common drops, they can be converted out of set conversion-category defence for reactives and luck of the gamblers. If stalagmites in mids is showing up twice as fast as live play maybe you left the force feedback on in 1 of the powers for false recharge times. If you plan on staying with the toon i'd be looking at winter pieces, blistering cold and avalanche at least and maybe dropping cross punch unless you need it to mule something. 5 armageddons and a fury of the glad proc in genetic contamination is great but i can see how that puts a lot of people off expense and time wise. Tf's are the way to go, stack up those merits for the stuff you need don't focus overmuch on inf/ah prices, especially stuff like red fortunes they are over inflated because people want them to convert to reactives/luck of the gamblers.
  4. Well i tried to make one cheaply it wasn't easy and i threw in the powers i'd take. I love handclap for example especially when rage crashes or just to keep mobs bouncing, handclap-footstomp-handclap etc. Footstomp just has a bunch of random pieces in you could throw anything in there. Not sure how much more expensive it would be than yours , it does have the 2 brute AT sets but you have a lot of relatively expensive kinetic combats/basilisks/aegis in i wouldn't use. I went for 45% ish melee as i find it easier to aim for that and it allows me a couple extra procs and better accuracy in attacks than the kinetic combat sets give. Earth mastery went out the window i played with it in the past and the recharge on the useful powers is too long for me. And i hate having endurance issues, people will say its bio you shouldn't have any and you probably won't but i like having a full blue bar so dna siphon and parasitic aura get fired off in every mob i can find as soon as they are up. Parasitic is a life saver, hit 3-4 enemies and the amount of regen + recovery it gives gets silly high so i slot that heavily. Not having epics/patron powers can get boring. Anyway here's what i came up with it shouldn't cost that much but i'm not sure you'll like having to drop some of the stuff i binned.   5. My bad didn't realise the ff+rech was on, still don't think its worth that extra slot for a couple of seconds but if its working for you its all good.
  6. Maybe my mids is off but its saying boosted recharge with hasten is 97.35 seconds 3 slotted and 98.71 seconds 2 slotted.
  7. One of my mains from live was an ice/cold corr and it got rerolled here right away. Recharge is everything and all teams love those cold shields it pretty much turns everyone into a tank even if all your using them for is a lotg mule its a massive bump in defence especially to squishies. Pretty sure once sleet drops on mobs you can throw away your acc io's as everything will hit. Always aim for perma heat loss and benumb especially if you ever plan on soloing tough av/gm. Sleet should be at about 15 seconds. On ice/cold burnout is a winner, i still think the best combo in the game is aim/soul drain-benumb-sleet-heat loss-ice storm-blizzard-burnout hang about a few seconds til blizzard wears off and repeat. It used to be enough to cause other players to crash with the overload and will murder the toughest stuff in game. I still think bitter freeze ray is a junk power due to the animation time, with a high recharge build you can fire off freeze ray enough to make it pointless. If your going for a ranged defence build and not taken the shield for the resists you may as well throw in scorp sd and cap your s/l def too.
  8. I always thought that 3rd slot in hasten was wasted once you boosted the rech io's. At lvl 50 they give 42.4% so 2 would give 84.8%. But you boost them and they each give 53% taking you over the 100% recharge they can provide and the 3rd slot is wasted?

Mids resistance numbers are a bit misleading if you have the might of the tanker proc turned on i leave it off on mine for the simple reason that if your not running it in a damage aura like lightning field your relying on it proccing from a single target attack usually. With ss your running into mobs and your first attack is probably going to be footstomp, then your looking for bosses and using your heavy hitters like ko blow. How often will you be using an attack like jab. I'm lazy and stick it on auto so thats its always firing off giving it a good chance to proc but you have to hit with it and then hope it goes off which isn't always the case and in higher level content it ends up being one of the least used attacks. Running it in different primaries with damage auras you only seem to need to be in range of 3 enemies to have it perma stacked. Running it in a single target attack chain its not. If i could i'd stick it in footstomp but i know i'd be sacrificing too much if i did. Its a minor point but leave it off in mids if you want to see your actual resists because it won't be on when your running into the mob and it may not even fire off during combat unless your spamming jab and who plays ss and does that? Its always footstomp footstomp footstomp and ko blow. You'll often see tankers just standing there in mobs hitting footstomp and nothing else and the tanker proc never fires off.

Been playing around a lot lately on my ss/rad and ss/elec brutes and i have come to love handclap with 2 purples an ff+rech and a sudden acc kb/kc its been a lifesaver during rage crashes or when i've been debuffed. On less squishy alt's i might skip it but honestly its tons of fun and if you have a spare slot for a zinger proc it can do occasional damage. Same goes for an elec/elec tank and lightning clap-doesn't need it but it makes playing it a lot more fun and those ff+rech really fire off a lot in mobs, you may get away with no hasten if you could squeeze it in that way.
  11. Quick look, i think you went over the rule of 5 on the 1.5% res to s/l bonuses. Agile looks like it has a reactive piece in instead of a red fortune. I'd stick a 3rd shield wall piece in weave-the hp bonus is much more useful than any regen bonus. Not sure about hurls slotting it might be better with a full superior winters bite set although you'd lose the ff+rech. I still think stamina will need at least 1 end mod in if you ever plan to run any sub 45 content. I'd also swap the superior might of the tanker and hecatomb sets from jab and ko blow around. The heca proc will have more chance to go off in ko blow and you can spam jab to get the chance for res to go off more often which it looks like you need as your res numbers in mids are counting it as always on which it won't be, with jab theres a better chance of getting it to stack once/twice. Same build and slotting with a little shuffle although if it was me i'd dump hurl and maybe elude/tactics for a way to fit in laser beam eyes/focused acc/pp/conserve power or whatever but thats I have one of these the rage crash is a killer a full 20% loss in defence and building for resistance seems pointless so i'm instead trying to hit 65% def just to see if i can but it sacrifices a lot of recharge. I'm relying on handclap and footstomp knockdown to survive. Trying to fit in gloom and dark oblit for some extra aoe and that massive single target damage chain seems impossible its almost as if your forced into body mastery because endurance issues are a serious problem. I've avoided slotting an alpha so far just to see how bad it is i don't want to be forced into cardiac. I've run it with the same s/l res you have and higher defences, then tried with 45'ish% resistance to s/l/e/ne and seen no difference. As to your build i'd assume you'd have end problems sub 45 with no cardiac and the way stamina + manouvres are slotted. I'd swap the rech io out of practiced brawler for an end red i can't remember if it stacks or not but i'm running an odd build right now so i don't think mine has the recharge anyway for me to check it.   13. 2 things. First you don't have frost so your missing out on one of the more fun aoe's, it does require a little movement or just hoping up in the air but its great. 2nd you slotted your best attack (freezing touch) with 4 basilisks, it really loves damage and procs. Otherwise great stuff you really hit the numbers defensively and i like the high s/l res. Not sure how well it will do +4/8 itf/lgtf/tinpex when your in a mob of dwarf/novasrikti/praetorian clockwork and those energy/neg energy attacks start flying. But built for most content it will do fine and should be ok in fire farms too if you didn't want a 2nd build.
  14. I tried it...once, its too clicky for me and the recharge ends up making it essentially one aoe stun every 15 mobs or so on fast moving teams. Useful solo maybe but you give up quite a bit to fit in all the fun powers and then power boost and boost range on top of that means sacrificing more useful stuff so it got dropped on my dp/nrg. With a primary like fire where you only need to take a few powers i could see it working maybe or if your hover blasting. Like everything in the game someone somewhere will be using it and loving it. As to the macro i've no idea how you'd fit in the 3 clicks at once and you'd be stuck in all 3 animations too, not good on squishies, better off hitting pb-br as your on the move before hitting the aoe stun.

  16. Did a little shuffling, its the same build same sets which you said you had most of so it won't cost any more than you planned. Should have much better acc for +4's. You will want that ff+rech proccing as often as possible in Rad Smash. I prefer running with gloom and dark oblit but i can see the need for the enfeebled set in fences if your chasing s/l/melee def. Rad melee still feels awkward to me and theres very little control in the set so when things go bad they go bad very quickly. I still love rad/rad but find myself on ss/rad much more. Rad armr is tons of fun on brutes.   19. Just ran a moonfire on a /dark. Two points. ....1 blessing of the zephyr kb does not cut it no way no how. There are tons of enemies that do kb attacks with mag higher than 4 and this was most noticeable on moony. Tons of Galaxy Archons all doing gravitic emanations of mag 9. something so tank goes flying 2-3 times/mob. .....Accuracy, if you have no kismet/tactics/focused slotted and your fighting +2/3 you will see a lot of misses even after soul drain hits a packed mob. As its moonfire and low level content you will be relying on a kismet accuracy because as a dark tank you don't have the recharge to get soul drain anywhere near perma anyway. I can only imagine the nightmare of a +4 ITF with no accuracy in the build relying on a soul drain thats only up for 30 seconds and has a downtime of 10+ seconds with hasten up, and hasten isn't perma so when its down its an even longer wait. And i look at a few of these builds and......no taunt. We all go over the aggro cap tanking (who doesn't) and the spillover goes for your team mates and theres no way you grab that aggro back without running about hitting every single enemy because they are scattered all over the map. Taunt gives you the best ability a tank has to target through your squishy team mates who are getting hammered and 1 click drag aggro off them. Whats a tank without taunt? And kb protection. 10 points minimum.
  20. Ar does have the best aoe and it sure is the most fun but most of it is kb or as Shred Monkey said the animation times, especially on the fire attacks like flamethrower and ignite. Ignite. wow. Is there a slower animating attack in game? If you haven't slotted for the kb and lets face it a lot don't attack 1 splatters the mob all over so attack 2 barely hits any of them. Its great having lots of aoe but firing them off in the right order so you actually hit stuff takes some work otherwise those aoe's basically turn into single target attacks. Its 1 of the most fun sets to play in game but it really needs some work.
  21. Running offensive seriously drops your resistance you will notice it instantly. I'm pretty lazy with bio i stick offensive on and thats that so i'm always running with less resistance than i could have but the dps makes up for it. I think the scrappers up front damage and crits are the reason i prefer it to brute bio.
  22. I've got bio brutes/sents/scraps/tanks and it feels like brute is benefitting the least from offensive adaptation due to the fury mechanic it already has. That maybe a good thing as it allows you to run either of the other 2 toggles i suppose. Its just a feel when playing the toons not something i ever really tested. Might have something to do with db/bio scrap being one of my favourites, but i rate fire/bio sent right up there with it. Every time i played bio on a brute it just felt like it would be better on a scrapper and i ended up with wm/bio, kat/bio, db/bio, tw/bio, claws/bio, fire/bio scraps although the last 1 hardly gets played. The only brute i play running bio now uses dark melee primary but only because i have dm/sr, dm,sd scraps already and i still think it would of been better as a scrapper but its purely a personal opinion.
  23. I don't have a brute build for kat/bio but i run a scrap one just built for s/l defence. I think bio works better on scrappers but thats just my preference. You can build bio in different ways, high recharge build for a fast dna siphon, parastic aura and perma ablative or you can build for a high defence to s/l/e/ne/f/c usually by throwing winter sets at it and splitting up the AT set that provides s/l def. I like to hit 45% s/l and then build in as much recharge as i can but either way you have to sacrifice either recharge or defence you can't get everything in unless you go agility and ageless and then your only good for high end content. Bio is a weird set, you feel invincible right up to the point where your not watching and then suddenly your just dead with no idea why. Its one of those sets that was still in testing on live servers so its not precisely fine tuned like the others it feels a bit overpowered like /rad armour and then suddenly it doesn't. One of those powersets where you have to monitor your debuffs very carefully and i do't do that. So when you build it you have to know exactly what you want from it. Defence or recharge. Build for 1 of those. You can very easily get 35% + to all and still get everything perma.

  25. I remember my first time pvp in coh. I'd fallen in love with ice tanking and was hangin out in pocket d trying to figure out how to get in the cage when a player asked if i fancied a cage match...guess what he was running. 1 power boosted attack chain later and i faceplanted. 0 energy 0 recovery. i made 2 elec/elec blasters, one on torch and one on everlasting i can't believe i forgot to make an elec/energy. Thanks for the post and reminding me how great they are for both pve and pvp. Elec blast was my favourite for years but its a little harder to keep up with teams nowadays by the time i'm hitting short circuit and it finishes animating teams onto another mob. So i really like the new dynamo option in /elec it seems to pop off damage numbers depending on how much extra endurance you have while keeping your endurance filled but i don't think elec/elec can come close to elec/energy for the drain which is a bit odd but also kinda cool. Good post thanks for reminding me of some memoreis of live and that i should be rolling one right about....now.
