  1. Thanks for that! Heroic mercs sounds very much like Hero Corps, which admittedly have almost no fighting presence in the game. (The wiki lists 3 named bosses, but that appears to be it.) Good call with the Lost being the "downtrodden". Works for me! An excellent list of group types! Thank you for that contribution! What about a "Lost World" type? This would be something like Gorilla City in DC Comics or residents of the Savage Land in Marvel Comics. Outside comics, there's the Sleestak of Land of the Lost. You might also add in lost Roman legions in the heart of Africa in the Tarzan stories. Basically this kind of group is previously unknown, often highly skilled in older weapons (though not always. sometimes they're more advanced but living in a primitive environment). The concept stems from the Lost Worlds genre. The closest I can think of is Chimerorans, but that's not so much a discovery of a lost civilization as returning to a previous civilization using time.
  2. Should work well in Siren's Call. 😉
  3. That a very reasonable question. If my suggestion does turn out to be the context, I suspect that cost is a factor. Why CGI a face the stunt guy won't use when a rubber mask gets the job done? Save the CGI for the main actor who has to portray details.
  4. I use the word "Antagonist" in the title as I realize an opponent group might appear anywhere on the morality scale. I got wondering if there are any antagonist group types that show up in Marvel, DC, or other popular comics that we don't currently have an analog for in the game. Just looking at blue side we've got an elemental group (Outcasts), dark (Skulls), dark magic (CoT), insane biological science (Vahzilok), cybernetic (Freaks), assassin (Knives of Artemis), mercenary and pirate (Sky Raiders), black ops (Malta), etc. A couple from the red side would be the sea society (Coralax), and an intelligent animal society (Snakes). Mirror universe is obviously Praetorians, and a certain less-obvious one I'll not spoil for new players, as it is part of the mission storylines. What group type might the game not have tapped yet? Also, do we have a "just cause" antagonist group like Marvel's Brotherhood of Mutants often considers itself to be? Or a "downtrodden" group like Marvel's Morlocks? I'm drawing a blank on both.
  5. it does not appear to be a moving mouth, which suggests to me that what we're seeing is a stunt double being set up. I would expect the main actor for the role to be given prosthetics to allow a greater range of facial movement. That or a dotted face for CGI treatments.
  6. Well for one thing, it may have been Wakandan by design, but unless it's got a hidden force field in the headband, it has no cranium protection. That should be soldier uniform design 101. Luminara is right about there being only 2 flyboys with wings. I would add that the winged backpack used in The Winter Soldier, the one Bucky destroyed, Sam clearly stated was the only one remaining, which is why they had to break in (offscreen) to get it. Obviously, the new pack and suit in that scene from Ant-Man is Tony's retro-engineering from the remains of the destroyed pack and upgrading. Gotta admit, the third person is intriguing. I'd have figured him for some sort of commander, or handler, or even an insertion specialist, flying the two to a certain point where their packs take over and picking them up afterwards, but I'm not sure how that would work with high altitude. They'd have wing icing, as Tony once found out. Even if the wing backpack could be duplicated, it would be inferior to what Tony designed. They'd have to go for quantity of fliers over quality of equipment if going up against Sam. As to Vanko's drones, Stark may have examined any bits that remained, just to learn more from Vanko's style, but considering the danger they put the public in, it's likely they were cleaned up by a government squad like the one that supplanted Vulture's crew, then incinerated. However... I'm not sure what fragments would remain, but I think it highly likely that Stark was given a chance to examine them, and this is a pre-Ultron Stark, highly proned to impulsive behavior. I'd not put it past Stark to integrate some discovery in Vanko's work, or build a new prototype. I don't know if the writers intended it, but what if Stark used elements of the drones design as the forerunners of the Iron Legion and even Redwing? As to my former "however...", I'd not be surprised if remnants of Vanko's work, and the wing suits, show up in Armor Wars. I too would find it hard to believe that none of Vanko's work was studied in aftermath, and Stark clearly studied the Falcon project.
  7. Why do I suddenly have a craving for marshmallow Peeps?
  8. Pictures or it didn't happen!
  9. Hey, you were not the first person to cross that line, and you'll not be the last. I'd tell you my experience, yet again, but there'd be more groans from the peanut gallery than that Greek family hearing about Windex again. At least you were courteous, and that is respectable. Exactly! There's tons of room for creativity.
  10. Nice Nem Staff! DragonCon is so close! I'm unable to leave my home area, though, as I'm caring for a sick family member. I hope you have a great time!
  11. 🎶 Blue Skies, smiling at me, Nothing but blue skies do I see. ...Nothing but blue skies from now on 🎶 I do have a question: would this modify the sky effects in supergroup bases? Or are those skies on a different setup?
  12. Did you mean 17 years? 'Cause Red Hulk's first comic appearance was 2008, so it will be 17 years when the character is brought to the big screen in 2025. While it is true that Red Hulk has not been seen in the MCU so far, his alter ego has, right from the 2008 The Incredible Hulk movie, and appearances in Civil War and Endgame. And Red Hulk has been seen on screen before, just not the big screen. He was in the animated series Avengers Assemble, the series releasing a year after the first Avengers movie. I point that out to show that many, either by comics, or animation, or just word of mouth already know the character and who his alter ego is, and several have known for over a decade. Ending with Red Hulk is akin to ending the Civil War trailer with first images of Spider-Man, which drove the fans into a frenzied lather. Admittedly, Red Hulk is not on that scale of fan fawning.
  13. Not a clue on that, so I'll leave that to others to comment. But I'm curious... Does adjusting the Gamma help at all? I was wondering, assuming adjusting the Gamma helped, if someone with macro skills (I'm not that person) could help you set up two macro buttons: one to set the Gamma to an ideal level for night/dark environments, and one to set it to your ideal day environment. That way, you don't have to trudge through the Options Menu often, but rather just click a button. I realize that would not be an ideal solution, but perhaps it is a reasonable work around until something ideal does come along?
  14. While I like where your thoughts are leading, there's some things that would have to change/take place to make it truly interesting. Temple of the Waters SF triggers Lusca: the problem is, Lusca is considered dull. It improved somewhat with the increased rewards, but it used to be that Lusca would sit in IP for hours without challenge. Even these days, it is far easier to get a league for Adamastor than Lusca. And Lusca appears on its own already, so a TWSF trigger feels a bit pointless. Some possible, but by no means exhaustive, thoughts on improvements: TWSF triggers a swarm of Luscas. At least 3, and to a max of all spots Lusca can spawn, but probably somewhere in between. TWSF triggers an unusually powerful Lusca with proportionate rewards. TWSF triggers Lusca in an unusual spot such as Talos Island, Peregrine Island, or one of the Rogue Islands. TWSF triggers Lusca in a PvP zone with proportionate rewards for the added PvP risk. This would necessitate working out some sort of scoring system to distinguish blue and red participation. I do like your idea of a trigger event spawning Nemesis with special weapons. That's exactly the kind of change I'm talking about. The spawning of Devouring Earth or Demons, while unusual, may not be sufficient especially in a random area. If you've ever noticed on Rikti raids, zombie invasions, and such, only certain zones merit the attention of players. Rikti invaded Crey's Folly? *Shrug* I'll just stay clear of CF for a while. What is needed is some sort of impetus that makes players want to go to the invaded zone to fight. What that might mean for City of Heroes, I'm not sure, but I can suggest one idea which comes from another NC Soft game that was shelved, Tabula Rasa. Have special mission givers with notable rewards that only appear (for a time) if an invasion is successfully fought off. You'll need a measure of success, as currently the invasions are just there for a certain period of time. Couple of suggested scenarios: Invasion X happens in a random zone. A damage dealt meter (or possibly a casualty meter) appears in the zone. Any and all players fighting an invader can add to the damage dealt meter. When the meter fills. it triggers the reward. In this case, special mission givers appearing, regardless of whether the invasion is still ongoing or not. Invasion X happens in a random zone. It is a smash-and-grab. The invaders are trying to take some unusual McGuffin of an artifact from point A where it is placed at the start of the scenario to extraction point B. If they succeed, it is a loss for the players. If, after many repeated attempts, they leave in frustration, it is a win for the players, and the reward, the special mission giver, is unlocked. This scenario is not unlike the clockwork-build-a-Paladin scenario that plays out in Kings Row, the difference being that case has a stationary Mcguffin, the Paladin assembly. The suggested scenario would have an item that could slowly be moved across a playing field, stopping each bit of the way that the carriers are dropped until it is picked up again.
  15. Oh, the irony that mere days separated this video from official NC Soft recognition.
  16. Wondering if the currently non-functioning /sgstats used to give a total?
  17. Ooo...we'd probably just get the stock elevator doors, but I could really go for some art deco ones:
  18. 15 days after, and I just ran a test. Bing, Duck Duck Go, and Yahoo still have the same results. I realize that Microsoft might be moving at a snails pace for whatever reason.
  19. Kind of like when a terrifying, nigh-impossible to kill hive-mind pseudo-race, having no clear central command or heart to kill, suddenly has a queen that can be targeted and killed, destroying significant portions of the hive in the process. Of course, that's just speculation. I'm sure Trek would never water down potent groups twice, right?
  20. Glad folks caught the reference. 😁 As to details, @MidnightCry stated the preference for female forms to randomize with the current male forms...so, we already have a randomization process in place. It sounds to me like the big issue would be art and animation. Possibly reserved slots for that set to go in as well. (I'm really, really guessing at that last bit. With an old engine I don't know if there's a limit to a list to pull from.)
  21. Okay, so say you get the men and the women, but what about the real small furry creatures from Alpha Centauri?? No love for them?
  22. I just started my first Bio defense, a savage brute, therefore, this is naturally intriguing to me. So it has a nemesis. Good. What tactic(s) to use in that case? Looks like the wiki article needs to be updated with Bio in the "prone to CDF" list.
  23. It's been a while since I've seen DS9, but I seem to recall that even several of the alien counterpart organizations were not aware of S31, or at least considered it a boogeyman myth. Which, if accurate, just goes to show how successful S31 should be considered to be. The Tal Shiar and the Obsidian Order may have been extremely arrogant, but they were not depicted as slouches in their field of information gathering.
  24. I was not aware. Thank you for pointing this out. While I probably should have said I was looking for something with a melee focus (sword) and a ranged alternate (pistol... combined as sort of the reverse of an Energy/Energy blaster), after reviewing these options I think I shall try at least one of them...after I finish off the 6 others I've already started juggling. 😆 Again, thanks!
