It's in the lower shot to the viewer's left. EDIT: "Acropolis" something. The Greek retail culture in my hometown always has something named "Acropolis". -
A coworker and fellow gamer told me. He knew I often spoke of CoH fondly. We worked in a hospital IT department, and I'm guessing he step away to have his hearing checked as I definitely tapped my sonic blaster potential with a "NO WAY!"

Sure thing, and be sure to stick to the Homecoming wiki. One of the other ones out there allegedly has integrity issues of the malware kind. -
I have to wonder if the announcement this year that mainline Star Wars is beginning to back up lore-wise into the High Republic era (predecessor to anything currently filmed) and even to James Mangold's announced "first Jedi" movie, might have an influence on this game. True, the game story predates even the High Republic Era, but with the addition of the "first Jedi" movie, that creates a set of lore brackets that will make the game increasingly be seen as Extended Universe/Legends material, which there's already enough there to make it so, collected over a decade plus. That combined with the game's age might be a reason to consider putting it to pasture. Personally, I've been amazed at the game's tenacity. I scan YouTube for reactor channels occasionally, and I'm impressed with the steady trickle of reactors just finding the game's promotion animations, which play more like mini movies. There's a clear love for the game, despite some clunky, poorly-aged choices like heavy grinding and really, really long travel sequences. I'm also curious to see if this heralds the creation of a new Star Wars MMO, one that will run concurrent to the official lore, and holds moderns standards for game design.

Just insane levels of customization. I mean look at the forums. Even here you can use an accordion to record your responses. -
How far outside are we talking? I've not tested it, but perhaps the invisible boundary is a bit farther than the invisible one. There's also the possibility, as I understand it anyway, that one could make a hit on an NPC under another's Storm Cell and get the bonus damage.

"Families who sing together, stay together!"

The music here? That's nothing compared to Planet Coaster, my latest alternate game choice. They manage to work their catchy tune into multiple music types and post it everywhere. Everywhere! I awake with this song buzzing in my head these days. It's worse than Mark Twain's Punch Brothers Punch railroad jingle and that was designed to torture. -

Welcome Home! Just to be clear: is this your first time in CoH: Homecoming, and you only played the original game? Or are you returning to Homecoming after a long absence? Assuming this is your first time in the Homecoming version, CoH has not been a static game and there are many changes. Some are obvious, like new powersets. Some are not so obvious, but beneficial. I'll point one of those out: travel. Travel has become much easier than in the Original Game (OG). The Homecoming Development team aided players by creating the Fast Travel "button", a type of accolade that you can drop into one of your powers trays. It acts as a pop-up menu, allowing you to access a variety of travel abilities that would normally take up several spaces in your powers trays. To acquire the Fast Travel, you have to tag all the exploration badge spots in the beginner's zone, Atlas Park. You'll find the subsequent reward Fast Travel under "Accolades" in your powers listings. It is dark green. Simply drag it to a spot on your powers trays, and click it to access the menu. (Actually, I've never investigated it in regards to the red side or gold side, so the experience might be different there. Perhaps someone else reading this can fill us in.) Opening the Fast Travel, you'll find "Long Range TP Zone Check" at the bottom, which, when moused over, highlights other menus. Everytime you find an initial exploration marker in a different zone, it will highlight in these menus, and that zone will unlock for you to fast travel to via a teleportation. Be aware that there is a recharge time. Access to the time zone, Ouroboros is no longer restricted to level 14 and up. Ask in Atlas Park for someone to drop an "O-Portal" to allow you to get in, and get your own power tray access to Ouroboros, which is another way people travel quickly through the game, popping into the O, and exiting to one of several destinations. (Be sure to grab the badge while there. The marker is at the top of the structure.) Other features under the Fast Travel may be grayed out, and will unlock either through something earned, such as Day Job badge rewards, or by acquisition from the P2W vendors. There's one in Atlas Park to the side of the Atlas Statue, by the fountain. Another is in Pocket D. While you're visiting the P2W vendor, you'll likely want to grab everything free from them under the category "Prestige Powers". Some are "either this one or that one" so be sure to read the descriptions. There's some nice fighting powers there to help a novice character. You may also wish to grab the free Prestige Enhancements, which, though not as powerful as the Single Origin enhancements sold at standard vendors, do provide some nice procs up until level 22. Lastly, you'll likely want to look at the Temporary Powers at the P2W vendor. There's many useful things, like jetpacks, that cost the game currency INF, but there's also free experience boosters under Temp Powers/Buffs/Experience Boosters. One hour each, and you can requisition up to eight at a time. Although jetpacks cost something, I like to keep one as an emergency travel spare, just in case my travel powers are ever interrupted. -
Great games that were completely wrecked by the end

Sounds like the climactic moment in Captain America: The First Avenger. which How It Should Have Ended picked up on and mercilessly skewered. -
I'll have you know I didn't click on the post. I deliberately bypassed it and went into people's posting lists to click on the responses. 😛

The Flash (movie) teaser drop
Techwright replied to Techwright's topic in Comic, Hero & Villain Culture
*Clicks ruby sneakers together* There's no DC hero like The Question, there's no DC hero like The Question, there's no... Eh, I'm between contracts, but I might fork over a few greenbacks to see this. The Flash was my favorite DC hero growing up, and was one of my inspirations for my winning, but brief, high school track days. Miller (controversies aside) never really hit the right note for me as the character, not like John Wesley Ship did, or even Grant Gustin, but hey, it's The Flash. So yes, it is non-essential, but interesting. -

I've heard that SWG received a similar treatment to Homecoming. I presume it is from a version before the perversion of the game? -

How to increase your capacity for inspirations at any level
Techwright replied to Diantane's topic in General Discussion
Though inaccessible in instance play, including bases. I do find though that buying the large or team inspirations for low cost well in advance, perhaps days in advance, will keep a supply handy for replacements when visiting the "real" world between instances. Just "/ah" it (minus quotes) in your chat to open the auction window outside the instances (This is, of course, assuming a new player didn't know that). -
Scarlet Shocker's Summer Supreme Thread: Cricket goes Global!
Techwright replied to Scarlet Shocker's topic in Off-Topic
I actually attended a cricket game once. The Commonwealth engineers the company had moved to town put together a Saturday game. After 3 hours viewing, and learning that some games go for days, I decided that cricket is just what I needed...for an insomnia cure. 😉 Sorry golf, but you've competition. The cricket bat, however, is a stroke of genius. I'd rather have that than a baseball bat as a defensive weapon. That thing is practically a Maori war club. I'll make sure the police are waiting for the attacker when he lands next Tuesday. -

Had this happen just last night. no tank, brute, scrapper, or Keld on the team. I'd just modified gust to do KD instead of KB, so I sent my grav/storm to tank. Took some near fatal alpha hits, but kept going. After a bit I noticed player confidence growing and blasters started leading on a few groups. I did feel this situation was where a team lead should have spoken up to either designate or ask for volunteers. As to tanks standing around, I usually get the feeling this is due to no confidence in their own ability or defense design. I suspect some of those are farm babies, stepping out for the first time. As to the no confidence I can relate. When I first started the OG, I didn't understand concepts, and desperately tried to keep my tank alive at all costs, which meant hesitation. It was my first MMO, and I'd come from the arcade background where it was 3 strikes, you're out. They say you have to break eggs to make an omelette and it's true here. The tank, or any character for that matter, must push past the fear of failure and just do. Eventually, after a few KOs, you lose that fear of breaking your character, and you begin to enjoy the game a bit more recklessly.
