  1. This is a very good and funny idea. Imma be in mids for a bit to see how I can make something fun with this and world of confusion. Dark pit+oppressive gloom is one of my favorite things (my absolute favorite thing is Repel with a kb to kd io and the ff proc...it's beautiful).
  2. The reason is due to how attacks are often tagged. Most AoEs are tagged as an AoE AND melee or range, there are far less pure AoE tagged attacks without a ranged/melee component. Melee defense also allows you to hang out in melee range, where you want to be for soul drains. Most of the time (damn near always) melee/ranged softcapped def is better than ranged/aoe softcapped def for these reasons. Now if you are hovering above, yes, ranged/aoe is superior, but just ranged softcapped def alone will serve you almost as well due to how most AoE attacks are tagged. I also hate the hover strategy in general because you move so much slower and it feels cheesy to me. I like being in the middle of the mob fighting everything. That being said, hovering is amazing for cone attacks, it completely changes their value in combat, they are amazing while hovering.

Overall this is much more survivable because you have 3 passive 5% heal procs running which I think will end up being around 20 HP/s total (at 3.5 ppm, I think the heal is 3.5 or 3 ppm).
  4. 1. No, you will never actually use boxing or kick. Superior blistering cold is giving 5% s/l defense and so that is very efficient for my s/l/R softcap build. You could use kick instead, but its a mule and should never be used. Boxing was first on the list, so its there. 2. I think you mean in sorcery and we only take mystic flight because we need two powers to get rune of protection and the extra knockback protection is available. I think it is also faster than my jetpack, so I use it for times when I need more than the ninja run jump. We take spirit ward because it is a one slot wonder to give us the absorb proc, which is active even if we don't use it, and we can use it in an emergency where transfusion isn't enough I guess (this has never happened to me). We take rune of protection because it gives us Mez protection (never get held or at least we can break free with it) and it gives us a ton of resist, rune of protection is really really good and I wish it lasted 2 minutes instead of 90 seconds (it would be perma then at absolute max recharge, but not many builds can reach that). 3. Yes, you are talking about trading 70% recharge for 3% defense to all and 7.5% recharge. Hasten is better in every single way. Recharge is incredibly valuable to a kin, it means more fulcrum shifts and thus more opportunities to cap your damage AND more T9 nukes at the damage cap. Take hasten. Always take hasten. 2nd 3. Hydro blast is at 89% damage with those 3 slots and so it is on the cusp of being red for diminishing returns, but most of the time we are at the damage cap anyway so why would I want more slots wasted on it? Those 3 slots also give us more max endurance (and recovery through that) and 10% recharge, in terms of efficient slotting I'm not sure there is a better deal. 4. Musculature does almost nothing for a kin (it would only be helpful in drawn out AV fights). Take agility core alpha, reactive radial interface, ageless core destiny, assualt radial hybrid, pyrro core judgement, and whatever you like for Lore (but I like the banished radial for the -res rain). P.S. Take repel as I have slotted it, it offers great knockdown mitigation and good recharge through the FF proc. Its very good. The top build posted there right now is not for farming, I use my fire/kin/flame build for that. The top build posted is for all content and it can solo missions in cimorra at +4x8. The water/kin build I posted here is also for all content and can do the same.

  7. May I ask what your defense and resistances are (with/without your planned alpha T4)? It sounds like you went for damage procs over defenses.
  8. For situations where your team does not need more dmg, bring a water/cold corr instead of a fire/cold. The FF procs you get in geyser and water burst give you even more sleet stacking and dehydrate gives you a way to heal, which /cold desperately needs to survive on its own against hard/incarnate content.
  9. So, radiation infection gives you -tohit, which is good on low level teams, but almost useless to you as my build is softcapped to range and melee (if you go against enemies with +tohit and your teammates don't have maneuvers pop a purple). It also offers -def, which is also good on lower level teams, but useless to you as your acc is 95% to +4s and you are already giving that low level team tactics and hopefully one other person is too (if not, shame on that team), which should be enough even for low level teams to do well. Yes, it would help soloing GMs, but I'd rather just buy some temp powers if I plan to do that. So, overall I think its skippable. Choking cloud by contrast will hold things in place and if the proc lands bosses too. I also don't need to cast it ever, I can just turn it on and go.
  10. To me, radiation infection is the power that I would cut first. It has a 3+ second cast time that I need to cast before every mob and I need cast enervating field after that. So I am spending 4.6 seconds before every fight before I can start damaging the damn mobs. If it was my toon, I would actually do this: This allows for a very tight shriek>scream>shout ST attack chain and you can add in howl, screech, and dreadful wail where you find appropriate. I'm sure if I messed with this enough I would find some more efficient ways to do things, but this is what I would do with the time I allotted for this.
  11. Here is a non-proc focused build that would have good damage as long as you can keep soul drain up with mobs (aim for 7). Soul drain is perma here. Also, you will find you have better survivability with Melee/Ranged defense softcapped. Don't worry about hovering, just live in melee and get good soul drains. You don't have scream to even out your attack chain for ST dmg, if you want a better attack chain switch out choking hold for is and put in the purple set into scream.   12. I farm the asteroid map with bosses at +4x8 with my fire/kin corruptor in 6:30 minutes with no inspirations and how I have slotted repel is a big part of the reason why. It not only gives you the FF proc, but the knockdown mitigation allows me to live in melee comfortably.
  13. I should also note that a Fire/Kin Corr can also farm pretty well. It's a good character for just about everything...except pvp, don't pvp with a fire/kin.
  14. ehhh, its not really, this is basically a M/R def softcap build. I am not aware of any melee attacks that are pure typed dmg and if there are, they are so few that they are hardly worth mentioning. So the energy defense will really only help you with pure typed aoes that dont have a melee or range tag.
  15. Orrrrrrrrrrrrrrr we can focus on s/l/ranged defense and get more recharge and general protection to everything in the game instead.
  16. Now contrast that with water/cold and the defender doesn't get much benefit over the corruptor and water blast benefits from FF procs in geyser and water burst. You also get a heal in dehydrate which is something that cold is sorely lacking. If you want to solo more with this character I would go Water/Cold corruptor, if you want to team, go with the Cold/Sonic defender.

  18. Ok, so let me elaborate on why you want to be a defender for this pairing. Let's all get our math glasses on and do some rudimentary arithmetic. For these examples we will assume you can keep 4 -res sonic debuffs up and that the corruptor has a base dmg power of 75 and the defender has 65. We will also assume that both have soul drain with 5 targets (not too hard). We will also have sleet for -30% res for both. The corruptor will have +64% from soul drain and +100% from enhancements, with -90% res (4 sonic+sleet) on the mob. So that will be 75*2.64*1.9= 376.2 total damage The defender will have +80% from soul drain and +100% from enhancements with -110% res (4 sonic+sleet) on the mob. So that will be 65*2.8*2.1= 382.2 total damage Now the defender will have vigilance if they are solo and the corruptor will have scourge, but scourge won't make up for the survivability the defender brings. Also, on a team, the defender will win hands down, because that extra -20% res benefits the whole team. You can also utilize more procs and have a bit better end management and freer slots with more recharge on a defender if you build well.
  19. So, yes /cold is a great set for a corruptor. The problem is that sonic blast is much better on a defender (5% more -res on most attacks). Water/Cold corruptor though, is fantastic and I'd recommend that for a cold corruptor.

Find a stationary mob in the city, find the hard limit for the range of a power (this will likely attack the mob), back up a tiny tiny bit (so you now know you are just out of range, slot superior malice in another power, wait for mob to respawn, see if you can attack mob from where you are now (the 10% increase should apply and you should be able to hit the mob if it's working)

  24. Ok, you can try this. It has perma soul drain, softcapped R/M def, perma hasten (with 2 FF procs in two minutes from time bomb), a lot of -res procs, and a lot of damage procs. It also takes the triage beacon and combined with the heal proc in stamina I think it should be able to keep you up solo against +4x8 (with our pretty good resistances). I did not take shriek as it only lasts 5 seconds and so scream gives better overall dps through -res when we are considering our attack chains and the duration of -res. Screech is terrible dps btw, but its -res lasts a longtime so it is worth it overall. Acid Mortor>amplify>souldrain>Dreadful wail>Trip mine should be pretty damn devastating.   25. The numbers in game just have scourge included, so subtract those and you're good.
