Yes, you can absolutely go nerve for your alpha. My build does not need the extra accuracy though and you would lose recharge in your powers that allow things to be a lot more fluid. If you go nerve, you can change the acc invention IOs for recharge IOs in fulcrum shift and siphon speed getting you an extra 1 second sooner usage. Hasten is also no longer perma without the FF proc or the ageless (not really a problem until you are facing a single target), so you need to put an extra slot here for another recharge IO if you want perma hasten against one target when exemplaring. The difference in proc rates for blazing bolt and blaze are as follows: Blazing bolt with nerve 58.9% chance to proc a 3.5 ppm proc Blaze with nerve 50.03% chance to proc the superior ATO 5 ppm proc Blazing bolt with agility 49.65% chance to proc a 3.5 ppm proc Blaze with agility 45.61% chance to proc the superior ATO 5 ppm proc with nerve blaze recharge in 2.5 seconds with 2 siphon speeds and blazing bolt recharges in 3.5 seconds. The proc chances in inferno stay at the cap regardless of the alpha. Overall I prefer agility for the extra slots it allows me to use, a bit extra endurance to decrease the amount of times I need to transference, the tighter attack chains, and the extra few seconds it shaves of inferno and rune of protection. The above proc chances are only for my current slotting and yes, you can absolutely get higher chances with a different proc focused build, but you lose out on set bonuses that a kin desperately needs for defenses. Using the nerve alpha is absolutely a valid choice, but I'd make a new build that built around it. Focusing on procs while maintaining softcaps and good resistances is very very difficult for a kin build to do and may be impossible. If you can manage to do it, please show me the build as I would be very interested. I should also note that my build is focused on general all around content, made for everything in general, both soloing (missions not TFs) and teaming. When I soloed the ITF at +4x8 without temp powers or any store bought powers (no envenom daggers), I had to completely redo the build in order to do enough ST dmg to the AVs to take them down (I couldn't just use extra mobs as fulcrum fodder because the added hits were enough to take me down on top of the AVs dmg).

You can get to the defense cap without the alpha if that is what you want, but these builds are 50 builds and so they min/max everything I can at 50. You lose a ton of recharge by going for the softcap without the alpha, but it can be done. In terms of accolades, I'm only using the +hp +end ones that are always on, the build still works and functions the same without them, you just need to heal and use transference more.

I don't think dominators have an endurance problem, because you get to refill your end every time you use domination and almost every dominator build shoots for permadom.

Have you found your ‘forever character’ yet?
Darkir replied to CaptTastic's topic in General Discussion
My Kintank fire/kin corruptor. Good resists, softcapped defenses, great recharge, extra recharge and passive damage mitigation with knockdown through repel (ff proc+kb to kd), mez protection through RoP, maxed damage, AND lovely juicy scourge (at max corruptor dmg!). I scrap in melee with the best of them, I can heal myself, and buff the team+myself. It's sooooooo much fun! 🙂 edit: I soloed the ITF with my Kintank just to prove I could do it, it took longer than I want to admit, but I did do it solo, without temp powers. -
I would love this change so much. I don't think the devs here give dom's much thought.

Hi, don't have access to mids right now. Could someone please tell me the damage buff values for ice blasts aim on a corruptor and a defender with the gaussian proc. Also, I would the damage buff numbers of a 6 target dark mastery soul drain on a corruptor and a defender. Thanks. Love you all.

Well, what do you want to do with this character? You can focus on procs and ST dmg with ice/time (farsight let's you really focus on procs and global recharge). I really like time, but I don't take a lot of powers (distortion field, time stop, and maybe one more) because either they aren't useful or they have such long cast times that I dislike them. When considering an ice/time corruptor, I also think you have to consider if you'd rather make a defender. Or you can focus on aoe dmg and incidental team buffs (fulcrum shift is for you, it affecting the team is just a bonus)
-
Pain is excellent on a team where you can make one person godly with painbringer and increase everyone's resistances while decreasing the enemies. You also get a passive healing aura which is quite nice on quick moving teams. You can easily softcap your own s/l res, but it is quite difficult to softcap your defenses (you give up a lot of recharge). I think it is better on a defender.

General PSA: when you want to get my attention on a thread of mine, please quote me so I know. I only check the corruptor forums daily and I don't a notification if someone simply responds to a thread of mine. I originally posted this and then it just sat here for 2 months with no replies and I just figured no one was interested. In terms of your build, you seem to be under the impression that the softcap is 40%, when it is 45%. Now, in terrms of your build and trying to save money, I have changed your build a bit. We can split our ATO to get +5% s/l def and 15% acc (which you actually needed more of) twice. We lose 10% global recharge, but that is a perfectly good price to pay for the bonuses. One power transfer is worth about 3 hp/sec, but it can't proc more than once at the same time, so the more you add, the less hp/sec you get on return. What this means for /bio is that a single +5 health IO in boundless energy is worth more hp/sec than one power transfer and it will never be worth adding more than one power transfer to a build. We also get more endurance recovery from boundless energy than we do from stamina, so we throw our +end enhancement there instead of stamina. Next, we change assassin's frenzy slotting to make sure we get the least amount of recharge in there so that it still procs well because we want to get our hide proc as much as possible and we add some more procs to really boost the dmg. We add a +5 dmg/end enhancement instead of another proc because there are times we may want to start with it from hide and so the extra +dmg is needed and it is also a pretty end heavy power to use in our ST rotation. We don't want to add any recharge into savage leap because it is already at an 89% chance to proc without any recharge (3.5 ppm), but if we add any recharge it starts going down quickly. We also add a -20% res proc because we want to do this combination at the start of most mob fights build up>ball lightning>savage leap>assassin's frenzy>rending flurry and if the procs I added in both ball lightning and savage leap land the mob will be at -32% resistance (the proc in ball lightning only has a 44% chance to land) when that 5 blood charged rending flurry lands and the rending flurry can crit too. We don't care about the extra 7.5% speed boost we get from kinetic combat 5 slotted and the knockdown proc won't land much in those powers so we take that out to use elsewhere. And yadda yadda yadda, here's the build: This Villain build was built using Mids Reborn 3.0.4.7 https://github.com/Reborn-Team/MidsReborn Click this DataLink to open the build! I almost always pick pyrronic because the cast time/dps is so much better. I only play SM on a stalker so I can just leap to the high threat mobs as needed.
-
I hate hate hate repositioning too, you lose dps time and it does always hit the ones you want. I only bother with cones on hover builds and tanks (but I pretty much don't play tanks).

+4x8 LRSF - A humbling experience for my poison / fire / dark defender

Ummmmm what? Mobs don't get an inherent +tohit bonus until +6 lvls to you. "Any attack with more Accuracy bonuses than penalties will have a guaranteed chance of hitting greater than the well-publicized 5% minimum. To be exact, it'll be 5% × AccMods." https://archive.paragonwiki.com/wiki/Attack_Mechanics They do get a lvl based acc modifier to their chance to land a hit, but even at +4 that modifier is only 1.4 so it would be 5%x1.4=7% chance to hit, but this is the LSRF (lvl 45-50) and he has a tier 3 alpha so all the mobs are only +3 so its really 5%x1.3=6.5% chance to hit. This of course is only for the minions because mobs also get an acc mod based on there rank: minions 1.0, lieutenants 1.15, bosses, elite bosses, and snipers 1.30, and AVs/GMs 1.50. So the floor for mobs to hit you based on rank and acc lvl mods with softcapped defenses at +4 without the alpha is: softcap so its (5%)x(lvl based acc mod)x(rank based acc mod) minions: 7% lieutenants: 8.05% bosses, elite bosses, and snipers: 9.1% AVs/GMs: 10.5% and with softcapped defenses at +4 with the alpha (a simpler way to say this is just +3): minions: 6.5% lieutenants: 7.475% bosses, elite bosses, and snipers: 8.45% AVs/GMs: 9.75% I have absolutely no idea where you got 10% from. Are you thinking that he is faceplanting while fighting hordes of AVs? Are you just oversimplifying in response to my own simplification (oversimplification?) of just saying 5% because I didn't want to get into all this? Not wanting to go into all this is why most of us just say 5% and stop worrying about it. -

One of the biggest problems with the poison fire pairing is that it completely lacks a heal. You rely on only being hit 5% of the time coupled with good resistances to keep you alive and some damage debuffs, but that's it. If defense debuffs come into play, this is a prime example of a defense debuff cascade death (hits have a 5% chance to hit you, but then you get hit with one defense debuffs and all of a sudden it's a 10% chance to get hit, but now another debuff got through because it was 10% and now it's 15% and all of a sudden you are taking 3x the damage you normally take and then....nevermind you're already face planted). Especially when you couple this with the higher lvl harder hitting mobs it causes major problems for the build and pairing. This is why I always recommend pairing water blast (for the dehydrate heal) with sets that don't have a self heal, it adds one more layer of survivability that you absolutely need in harder content. One of the things you can do to help with this is to take either barrier or the ageless radial (defense debuff resistance) destiny powers with you when you know you will be going against harder mobs. -
What do you mean his does more dmg than mine? First, turn off scourge, you aren't going to crit every time or at all in the beginning. Also, go to view>view damage by animation time to see their dps and not just their activation damage (bitter freeze ray looks like a great power until you consider that 2.5 second cast time) The best ST attack chain his can run is freeze ray>bitter ice blast>bitter freeze ray=127.18 dps The best attack chain I can run is freeze ray>bitter ice blast>ice bolt=174.6d dps (need to divide by the time bitter ice blast is up which is 3.28 seconds and not the cast time for all those powers which is 3.07) So, that ST attack chain is almost 1.5x the dmg of his. On top of that I have 90% more global recharge (170+ total) in my build, meaning that my aim is up every 28 seconds, while his is up every 32 seconds. My blizzard is up every 45 seconds and his is up every 66 seconds. I also feel the resistances are very necessary when you consider that you cannot heal yourself at all. Sure, his build has power build up, but its only up for 12.5 seconds every 90 seconds, which just isn't worth the extra energy resistance that you get from charged armor but if you want it, its easily remedied: (we don't take dark mastery on a hover character because you just don't have the melee or s/l defenses to use a pbaoe power like soul drain) The things I sacrificed in this build were dark mastery(can't be in melee range, which is necessary for soul drain to work), melee defenses, and procs (damage yes, but damage that is required to forgo set bonuses like recharge and defense). I think the build I made here will have more recharge, more damage, more survivability, and more uptime of powers. P.S. I apologize if I sound arrogant or condescending, that is not my meaning at all. I have simply made and played many many many many corruptors at this point and I am continually making builds for people here on the forums and so I have lots of experience with both builds and corruptors. I am also very tired because I have not slept.

Would you be interested in a HOVERruptor?

The problem is that it has almost 2.5x the cast time of bitter ice blast, but only does 2x the dmg if its proc'd out and bitter ice blast and freeze ray are not. When we look at our dps and chains, it just isn't a good dps power, proc'd or not compared to other options in ice. If you proc everything out similarly then the dps discrepancy becomes very noticeable. Bitter ice blast still has a 76% chance to proc a 3.5 ppm proc without any recharge in it, freeze ray has 64%, and even ice blast has 56% chance. Yes, bitter freeze ray has the maximum chance to proc, but it doesn't do enough base dmg to make up for it. Let me show you what I'm talking about in a build, make sure you change the view to "show damage per animation." All three powers are similarly proc'd, but freeze ray and bitter ice blast do twice the dps as bitter freeze ray. Hell, even ice blast almost meets bitter freeze rays dps if you put two purples in it. On archetypes that have lower base damages (controllers and defenders) it makes more sense to utilize procs in powers like bitter freeze ray make more sense to utilize. Most importantly, proc dmg never scourges, hurting your overall dps even more (not really by that much considering how effective/ineffective scourging can be, but it is something to consider). If you add in powers like aim or soul drain on a corruptor, then these dps discrepancies become even more apparent. Most importantly though, its just not really worth the overall survivability cost (the cost is lost set bonuses and slots in other powers) on a corruptor to do things like this, unless you have a secondary that is really prepared for it (say hello to "/time"). (ok I had to check a defender, it doesn't really make sense there either from a dps only perspective) defender example: The one thing that bitter freeze ray is really good at is holding bosses with a proc and being a set mule in my opinion.

Oh, one last thing: you are a fire corruptor, embrace melee and bring death with inferno and fireball.

Entangling Aura and all holds have one of the most efficient set bonuses in the game for defense+recharge by 4 slotting Basilisk's Gaze. You get 7.5% recharge AND 2.5% ranged defense, that's fantastic. On top of that its a toggle that holds and can take a +2 hold proc as well, giving you a passive form of defense. You know what sucks? Spore cloud, a 3 second cast time power that enemies can easily run out of because we don't have slows or holds. If you depend on it for your ranged defenses it will let you down as enemies run out of it and you get pummeled. If you depend on it for melee defense it will work well, but it becomes such a slog to cast it for 3 seconds before every fight. I really really hate how it slows down my pew pew 😞 Instead of chasing recharge, I would rather bulk up my defense and resists while adding soul drain to the mix for more dmg and survivability. Overgrowth+soul drain (7 enemies)+aim >>>>>inferno=a 1857 dmg nuke (according to mids) with a radius of 25 and a -20% res proc on all the mobs affected by soul drain. This build can do that every 35-40 seconds (ageless). Anyway, I would use this instead. You lose recharge, but you gain softcapped melee and ranged defenses, maxed s/l resists, tons more dmg with soul drain, and a small passive (toggle based) chance to hold bosses with entangling aura.

Ok, finally ice/cold is a perfect candidate for both a scourging corruptor and a hover build. We take frost breath here because even though I hate cones normally, they essentially become PBAOEs while hovering. I think this would probably the most fun and most survivable overall.

Normal build with soul drain, you could probably still do +1-2x8 with this. I tend to think that soul drain is almost essential for corruptors. This my attempt at giving you a heal....its not great, but it'll keep you alive. Other options to follow.

Savage and bio are fantastic on brutes. I assume they are also good on tanks and scrappers. The dot does not crit for anyone anymore 😞 I think stalkers get the best version of savage melee, but brutes get the best version of bio armor (the inherent taunt auras mixed with the toxic dot+fury).

If you are looking for self sufficiency then I strongly recommend you build a water/cold corruptor instead. If you want ice for theme or any other reason, I'll look at this when I get home and help you out.
