  1. On a team you can get a lot of mileage out of TA with very little effort. Flash Arrow and PGA will keep many a team running without anything else added. but you have sooo many different tools to apply as needed or just blast away. And you will have plenty of time to do that. You just need to keep in mind that PGA is a patch so it plays differently than all those toggle versions you are used to (and it gets a fast pulsing sleep in it too). Funny part is you keep the team moving because you want to apply FA before anything else and the others on your team think you are engaging the mobs and run in to "save" you. Only problem is most of the time your team won't notice what your debuffing does. You can easily see the difference when some split off and start faceplanting. With you there, they take only small to moderate damage.
  2. Don't forget your PGA. it's a large area (way bigger than the animation) -31% Dam patch. With good recharge you can easily perma it and it does well for keeping pets alive and the sleep is very fast ticking so that helps make it a staple power in TA.
  3. You are awesome for knowing this. 🙂 I was about 4 or 5 when this was on in my area. Right after Ultraman.
  4. And it really is pretty. It's one of the prettiest blast sets out there. Hey, that's gotta count for something in CoH. 🙂
  5. Made it with a TA/Sonic Defender. I thought it was fun. I'd say try with a petless MM. Knew someone who made it to 50 back in the day that way. No Sorcery, no build up dynamic in fighting.
  6. I think it was more of an attempt to add back challenge to a game that was loosing it's challenge.
  7. Oldskool, I like the way you think. for the Dark Armor T9 I think it's kinda the ultimate tier 9 for armor. don't have to remember or freak out on getting into trouble, just pop it and watch all the baddies stagger about while you kick their tails. 🙂
  8. OK. I hear y'all and it sounds like Dark Miasma ftw. For me, it was down to Fearsome Stare vs. Cloak of Fear anyway. Now I gotta see between defender and corrupter. In the past this has never been an issue for me, Defenderphile here. But I'll need to run the numbers a bit. What do you all think of Sorcery line for the theme? I know the Shadow has magic items provided to him before but is that too far? Oh, and the other question would be soul or dark mastery? I think Dark, with it's self rez might be a more thematic choice. On the other hand, Soul/Power Boost, maybe not as needed as on a Time or Poison or others but ya know.
  9. I'm starting a new character based off The Shadow and I'm not sure which way to go. Should I go DP/Dark Sentinel with personal defense and all that lovely status prot or a Dark/DP defender with so much more control/debuff/buff but losing the damage? What do you think the advantages are for one over the other?
  10. Yeah, Time will do that to ya. Back on live I had a Time/Ice that really felt like a tank most of the time. If you want the fully tank feel add a proc or two to Time's Juncture. Short of an actual Tank with Taunt you will draw the most attention in an average group. I'm leveling up a Time/Elec (along with 50 others) and it's a hoot also. Time/DP is a known awesome combo as well. Time is just well rounded and strong.
  11. My personal taste, i would dump temporal selection from your build. Then again, I'm a selfish defender. 🙂
  12. I would seriously reconsider getting Voltaic Sentinel. Sparky is worth it, IMO. I think most ppl don't like Voltaic Sentinel because they look at it and it only does 88ish points of damage. But consider it as a DPA exercise. It does this blast every 4 seconds and equates to 15 times during the course of it's life. That works out to about 1323 pts of damage with an cast time of 3.3 seconds. He starts off at 150% acc so you could actually just slot in 3 damage if you wanted. He won't miss often with all your -Def thrown in. If you are in a long fight he definitely adds to your damage potential. Just my 2 cents.
  13. i almost defy you to go in using blackstar and faceplant... ok, i'm going too far. But it's really easy to get that one going kaboom and stay safe. -35% tohit for 20 seconds is a huge amount.
  14. That's bad mojo. Only power I know of that takes a different enhancement on one AT but not another. If they "fix it" for defenders it would go a fair way toward making that a good set again, imo. It's rech. was always a point of frustration by me.
  15. Anyone know if Liquefy can be slotted with the FF proc? Mids seems to think the corrupter version can and the defender version cannot. I'm all confused. Can anyone shed some light on this?
  16. Chem rounds on a defender are a thing of beauty. As an experiment, I once kept my team "defended" using only those rounds and nothing from the primary. Empty Clips and Bullet rain throw -25% Dam on a defender and -20% on a corrupter.
  17. I remembered something that might help from back in the day. " ...Rise to the Challenge from Willpower, which is another unique beast like Ice Armor, except in a very bad way. Every other taunt aura has a magnitude of four, this one has a magnitude of three. The real problem is the duration of 1.25 seconds, less than one tenth the duration of the other auras! Keep in mind that duration remaining is part of the threat formula, so this directly affects Willpower's ability to gain and keep aggro. The saving grace here is that Rise to the Challenge, unlike all other taunt auras, can stack with itself, but not without enhancement. Once you throw some taunt enhancement in here, it can stack up to a magnitude six taunt effect with over a two second duration. The extra magnitude helps to make up for the lack of duration, but you will have to lean more heavily on Gauntlet/Fury and the power Taunt." https://dechskaison.blogspot.com/2011/06/last-rule-of-tanking.html Dechs always did know his stuff. So based on that, I'd be thinking 3 heal, 2 taunt and a dark watchers proc for RttC.
  18. Torrent/Dark Pit/Tents/rush in for Fulcrum shift/Transference/Blackstar or fall back for Night Fall and more Tents. Sounds fun Happy thoughts on this combo.
  19. At least try Dark Watcher or Deflated Ego procs first. Taunt plus one or both of them and you should be fine.
  20. Haven't tried the combo but i can tell from playing both parts over the years. Viable? yes in certain instances downright nasty. Bonus damage on disintegrated foes is really nice to begin with, then add on proc joy and stormie natural goodness and you will do some nice damage. some decent synergy with stuns a plenty. Biggest drawbacks are: low aoe damage early on. Once you get Tornado that will clear right up... but you will still want cutting beam. it hits hard when disintegrate spreads. End hungry!!!!!! but you will still chase recharge so it will be a vicious cycle. As with most stormies, you will PO your teammates until you learn how to go about kback (or IO to solution). If you make one, you will prolly be happy. keep up with your BF flavored vitamins and some greens and you are probably good to go.
  21. Thanks Cipher. You da... tiger? One of the great things about the old game was the way the dev team kept all of us up to date on stuff (except SoonTM). Glad to see that you guys are just as on top of things.
  22. I tried to call Vision... then I was sad.
  23. I always wanted to make a Dark/Staff tank I have an image in my head. Coloring Dark like sand and using a broom. Something like... Can't you see her leading the troops into battle?
