And I _honestly_ think that trying to do the things you are tyring to do is directly harmful to the community, so I wi fight the idea. I would say all of these things the same way to you or anyone, I talk to my spouse, bosses, friends and enemies all with the same openess about what I think about what they said. This constant refrain of 'put these players here and those players there' goes directly against the whole idea of CoH IMO. We have sidekicking and all of the other tools so that all levels and all players can play together all the time. Separating the community into smaller chunks for such 'silly' reasons as not liking the fact some players don't read or are 'lazy' does nothing to further the creation of a larger community, it simply divides it into chunks for those poeple that like to be in the 'right' box. This idea like many of the others I see proposed is _also_ trying to change human nature through code. I see this everyday in RL in addition to game forums. From my PoV, just another form of control to force players to follow a pre-determined narrative rather than finding thier own path. This is me, raw and unfiltered, exactly as if you were here sharing my puff-puff. :) Justice disagreed with me too. He even convinced me to see his alternate suggestion as the better idea. So now I agree with him. It's all good in the Kings Row Hood. Also, I dont see this type of an idea as a way to separate folks. It's just a chat tab, a other tool to help people achieve their goals. I play DFB to level 15 on every character. The chat tab would have helped me as well. You seem to take me like I hate DFB. I run DFB almost daily, since I am an Altaholic. So no, this tool would have helped me when forming DFB teams, AND it would have helped me when forming TF's. And before somebody tries to call me out and say that I do not play DFB, if you play on Excelzior, you have probably seen Heavy Metal run DFB with you a few times. I have re-rolled him 4 times and I have leveled to 15 on him using DFB each time. So no, I felt like it would be a useful tool, not a way to separate them from us. I do both.

OK, if it's just 'silly' why do you want them quarantined to their own chat channel? I think no one is suggesting PEOPLE be quarantined in their own channel, but there is a wide swath of players who feel that LFG is swamped with DFB Personally, I was one of those people until I started tracking it. Now on Everlasting, only 45% of LFG chats involve DFB/DiB, 10% are Mistells, and the rest are all other categories (LFT, Running Missions, TF/Trials/Incarnate, Radio/Mayhem Missions, etc). So the overwhelming plurality of chats are DFB, but not the majority. Regardless, that wide swath of players want to separate those chats (not people) into a different tab, to provide more visibility for the content they are interested in. That's not wrong...It easy ridiculously easy to find and fill a DFB team...It is significantly more difficult to recruit for any other content.. My thoughts on the solution would be to create a new systemic Server Channel for DFB. It would appear as a tab on everyone's characters and it would cause people who want DFB to gravitate towards. Additionally, people in the LFG would politely I hope push DFB requests in LFG to the DFB channel. DFB players are going to go wherever they can get traction and successfully fill a team. Having their own channel means they can fill teams faster...No harm to anyone, no difficulty for anyone, everyone wins... I think the OP's approach is doomed. It is going to be much easier to find a team on systemic Server channel, than having to find and join a Global Channel, having to modify how they post (add your Character Name) and still find they have a limited audience to recruit from. Short of my suggestion (which requires Dev work), I think the only way to make this happen is doing the opposite of the OP's suggestion and creating a new channel for everything else...Everlasting has a TF channel that currently has 579 people logged into it...In the current landscape, I think it's easier for people who are annoyed by chat channels to create their own mechanisms for themselves, rather than hoping a bunch of people will jump on an idea to make it harder for themselves to team, when the current landscape is so easy for them... Agreed. I'm going to look in to it when I get home tonight to see if (I should have already done this) a TF channel already exists on Excelsior. If it doesn't, I may attempt that rout instead and leave LFG for everything else. And yes, everything Justice said is correct. I have no harmful intentions here. I just would like to see everyone have a easier experience forming their teams. We are adults...we all have our own ideas how to make the game better. My idea was one of them. Nothing more. I think we as players need to try harder to not get our feathers ruffled. Everyone wants to make the game better because we all love this game. This is why most of us kept in touch on Facebook even after all these years. We are a tight knit community. Let's stop treating each other like we are on forums, and start treating one another like we are face to face, at our own private community meet a d greet. :)

So? It bothers you enough to mention it here, how does it actually impact your gameplay though? Are you just unable to see anything that does not fit into your narrative as anything other than 'wrong'? Why do you think you need to 'correct' these players or that they are doing something 'bad'? Your wish to make it change has to be rooted in something...why do you think it's on you or anyone to make these players change? lol, settle down there, Bevis. I don't say a word to them. I just think its silly.

Believe it or not, there are players who feel that knock back is great. Some even view such a request as a way of trying to control how others play the game. Only thing I can suggest is when a player uses their knock back irresponsibly, explain it to them first. If that doesnt work or they rage about it, kick them.

You are most likely correct. I am a bit old school though when we had the TF channel and the GM channels and Hammi Raid channels. They helped and people used them. I have to try though. If I dont at least try then I will never know if it will have worked and caught on or not. Better try and fail than not try and never know.

It’s not the "DFB group lfm, pst" messages that seem to be the most obtrusive in the LFG channel, it's when I see four or five "lf DFB team" messages after the message about the DFB team looking for more people. The player trying to fill their team is making an active effort, but the 'lf team' messages popping up afterwards feel like "I can't be bothered to read the channel and make an effort to find a group or start one; find me and invite me". That said, I don't say anything in game about it; raising a stink over it is just going to make the game less enjoyable for everyone. Everyone probably has something other players do that they're unhappy with, but it's not worth trying to shoehorn them into your preferences. Agreed. There are a lot of players who lft, while others are lfm. It's strange to me, but like you, I don't say anything about it. It will just give trolls bait to troll anyway. What I will also see, is two or sometimes even three DFB teams trying to form one right after the next. So instead of joining forces to build a team faster, they would rather compete against each other to fill their own teams.

I find it funny how I wasn't the only person who had been driven nuts by this, yet here is another guy who took the search on a whole new level, and dug to the furthest depths of this mystery. The mysterious (I hear something different than he did) "78.5 Code 6 105 North Ave, 52." that can be heard coming from Police Drones in City of Heroes, is something that has driven this guy crazy for a very long time. He dug with a passion that most of us dedicate to our favorite hobbies. After listening to a Police Drone while standing next to one, then repeatedly running up to it over and over to reset the sound bite, it began sinking in, the idea, or thought, "Where did that originate from?" I started my search online, trying to figure out where this sound bite originated and who the woman was that voiced the part. Tonight was the night that I was going to begin this search, it was going to drive me insane until I found some information on this and where it came from...until I stumbled across something interesting; I found an article. This article was one of which a man before me had also been puzzled by this woman's voice. Yeah, was discussing that with somebody...have also been discussing on how to form a server channel. So far we've got nothing, but still working on it.

I don't play on Excelsior, but i was convinced this was an issue there. But then i did some counting and the data doesn't that t is actually as bad as it feels. However, should you still puruse this you will want to create a SERVER channel, not a GLOBAL channel. 1,) A global channel would be cross shard, so every post would have to include not only your haracter name, but the server as well. That’s a lot of extra DFB players that won't motivate them to switch 2.).A server channel solves all of these problems, it's shard specific and only displays ,the character name I didn't think we had the ability to create server channels? This is good info...and doesn't help me get this off the ground since now anyone who has joined needs to switch. I'll look in to seeing what I need to do to get a Server channel going. P.S. Not a problem, just a QoL channel to help lesson the chatter all loaded on a single channel.

DFB is incredibly popular. It's nothing that needs to be "fixed." Just a quality of Life change that helps people looking for DFB teams to be able to do so easier, while at the same time freeing up some space on the LFG channel. Edit: I also think other servers could benefit from this as well if they had a DFB channel. Which is why I posted this in General. I'm sure all servers could find this useful.

So since DFB spread like wildfire among our population, the LFG channel has been bombarded with players requesting DFB teams. Sometimes when I or others are attempting to put together ITF, or Posi, or even Frostfire, the request to build a team is buried in a matter of seconds due to the over abundance of DFB teams. I felt that with the popularity of DFB, it might be time for DFB to get a channel just for itself. The only two draw backs from this that I can see, is that any created channel gives away your global name. This may make some players a bit uncomfortable. However, to this I say this, Global names are not private. Anyone can gain full access to your Global name. Second concern is that nobody will know what character you are on unless you specify. However, with the left click on the name system, there is no need to advertise your character name. You simply left click the Global name, send Tell, all is well. This will take a small amount of work if we all make a small amount of effort to spread the word. If everyone tells 5 players, the whole server will be fully aware by the end of the weekend! I truly appreciate any help I can get on this, folks! Thank you!

So on Excelsior I have created a DFB channel to help relieve some of the over abundance of DFB requests. It's going to take some work, but I think in the long run it will help everyone. This is for Excelsior Server, however, I'm sure it could work on the other servers as well. Help spread the information!

I swear, that story got me right here (points toward my heart) because I know how that feels. I have stories similar involving a few powers that were changed here and there, the EM Nerf being one of them. Once proud Heroes, no old has-beens because of the nerfs...doing nothing but collecting dust. Right there with you, my main was invul/em, I had it IOd out, tons of game time-I was one that played end game with it more than rolling new ATs. I was so frustrated I quit the game for 2 years because it wasn't fun anymore. I came back and enjoyed it for a few months then it shuttered and I felt awful. I feel like I got a second chance so I'm not going to complain too much. I just can't bring myself to enjoy EM because I'll always have that tingly feeling in my fingertips of how ET used to feel. Funny thing is, that same animation works well on /Rad because of how that set plays as a whole. So my main now is a Rad/ Elec brute. I would roll 3 EM types in a heartbeat and play the crap out of them if they ever reverted this. Hopefully the revert it back to its original state.

I can only well enough imagine. Just the way you have described it, casts a shadow of emotions of feeling overwhelmed, and I didn't even have to deal with it, lol. I have mentioned before that I felt like the Original Devs fibbed about certain changes in the game in regards to PvP and PvE, but I was also quick to add that I myself am no better and would have also stretched the truth in their situation in order to cull the mobs with pitchforks from going insane over the changes, lol. It's a situation where you know you can't make everyone happy, so you do your best to lighten the blow as much as possible. And yes, mobs won't say a word, they take their beatings like real men, hahaha....but a player will find even a fraction of a difference in unbalance and exploit it and complain about it en masse all in the same melee round, haha.

^^^ This. I'd be fine with just removing the damage debuff. I think it gimps the power to have two crashes. It should be an either/or IMO It currently has three crashes. Endurance drain, damage drain and defense reduction. Which is why my main tank skipped it completely. Sad huh? Yes, yes it is. :( I have it, but I have it on a WP. I wouldn't pick it up on anything but a WP or Elec. Elec has no defense, and does well with Endurance as long as you pick up Energize, so can't hurt that. WP has Regen, REALLY good Endurance Recovery and Resist to back up on, so can't hurt that much either. Everything else though? I wouldn't dare.

They’re never going to be equal, because Ice has Defense to Smash/Lethal, which is often paired with Fire damage, but not always. In fact, you probably have it backwards; Fire is likely more vulnerable to Cold than Ice is to Fire, because of that defense. Also, Cold usually comes with -Recharge, which messes up Fire with its reliance on its self-heal, while Fire Damage rarely comes with any other side effect. I honestly am not even ready to get involved with this discussion of Fire vs Ice yet...because neither one is even remotely close to being on par with WP, Elec, Shield or even Invuln for that matter. Until Ice and Fire gets the love they need to bring them on par with WP and the other top ranking sets, I'm cannot even be concerned with how they stack up against each other. Ice is good, do not get me wrong, but it pales in comparison to WP and the other sets. And personally, to me, Fire seems very gimp against anything other than the silly farms Fire Tanks like to do....which makes them useless in my eyes.

I didnt think it had anything going for it. Felt very childish to me.

Ice has always been the weakest melee damage in game...unless of course it is being used by Outcast. Honestly, it needs a damage buff, however it will probably never see one since the set never has seen one other than the tier 9. If damage is what you are after, I wouldn't go with Ice if I were you.

Why does SS have to be middle of the pack? This right here. Damn good question. Sounds to me we are scared of aggroing Elec players in to stomping on this thread...for fear of losing their number one spot...or whatever spot people feel is number one. :D At one time, SS used to be the number one power set. It was for years. Personally, I think the only fix it needs is to lose the -defense and endurance crash. the -99% damage is fine....and fair.

Knowing what he is doing and why, hell...I would let him on a team with me in a heart beat....just to see him try and survive, lol. He would earn decent xp too. Sadly though, I level with TF's. I'm a TF Junkie, so chances are we won't be hanging out.
