Seriously: Alt-itis, What To Do? A Discussion on Self-Control
Bionic_Flea replied to a topic in General Discussion
That said, it can be a way to break up the monotony to start in a different faction. Your last dozen characters started blue side? Try red or even gold! It is harder to find teams but the content can seem fresh if you haven't done it in a long time. -
Seriously: Alt-itis, What To Do? A Discussion on Self-Control

I agree with the goal setting advice. Some potential goals for you that I have tried: Design a crazy build and make it work. Way-back-when I wondered if you could slot a tank almost exclusively with the taunt sets and still be viable. Surprisingly, a Rad/DM tank did well at this challenge, made it to 50, and earned a second premium build. Similarly, I wondered if a character that took as many pool powers as possible could be viable: Yes! A Poison/Water Defender with only 2 powers from primary, six from secondary, and sixteen pool powers! Badge hunting. I have one character dedicated to getting every badge available. I only need a few more. Base building. I've dabbled but can never approach what some of our creative architects can do. I can make functional bases, not works of art. But I tried and so can you! Level a character just by street sweeping. I confess that I got tired after a bit and started teaming and farming. But for a while it was great fun. With vendors by the entrance of all the hazard zones you can stock up on inspirations and run a loop that brings you back to the vendor to start again. -
Sorry. I was looking for max values so I had Against All Odds maxxed at ten and Assassination inherent turned on and that's probably where I saved it. Assault Hybrid and Reactive Interface are also turned on and adding to the damage. Moonbeam hits hard and can crit from hide. You can get even crazier numbers if you turn on Build up with a Gaussian Proc. If you turn off AAO and the Inherent you'll see more reasonable numbers. Wait a second . . . Mids is messing something up. With all damage enhancing powers turned off it's showing moonbeam hitting for 604 and with Assassination only turned on it jumps to 1624 . . . that ain't right.

Best Base in Paragon, 2.1 !!! (Use this thread)
Bionic_Flea replied to Blushield's topic in Everlasting
I tried using the basecodes to check out a few of the winners but was getting error messages. The error was between my ears. I'm on a different server! Would it be possible for folks to post some pics of the winning bases so that us other shards can see what's what on Everlasting? -
Hasten: Make it Inherent, or get rid of it?
Bionic_Flea replied to Abysmalyxia's topic in Suggestions & Feedback
The biggest problem with making major changes to existing powers is what happens to characters that already have the power. If you changed Hasten to the fourth slot, what would happen to existing characters? Are they unplayable? Forced to respec? Grandfathered until they try to respec? If you otherwise just changed the amount of recharge that Hasten grants, what do you do for all the characters that took it to achieve a perma-power goal, whether that be Domination, Dull Pain, Chrono-Shift, or anything else? Do all those characters get told to "suck it up, buttercup" and either deal with the loss of perma-whatever or respec to try and add more global recharge via IOs? -
I know this idea's bananas, but hear me out
Bionic_Flea replied to Rylas's topic in Suggestions & Feedback
Piña Colada Spray - Cone, Targeted AoE, Slow, -Recharge, Disorient, Sleep, Minor Damage over time. You spray tasty and cold Piña Colada Slushie at your enemies, causing their movements and attacks to slow down and become disoriented. Stacks of Papaya add additional chance for sleep after the disorient wears off and increases the damage over time. -
Isn't that Desdemona in the center picture in blue?

Hasten: Make it Inherent, or get rid of it?
Bionic_Flea replied to Abysmalyxia's topic in Suggestions & Feedback
Need and want are different things. You don't get XP from surviving, you get XP from defeating things. Hasten lets you use your best powers more often. But I don't think we are ever going to agree so . . . carry on. -
Hasten: Make it Inherent, or get rid of it?
Bionic_Flea replied to Abysmalyxia's topic in Suggestions & Feedback
Exactly. You are thinking of this from the sole perspective as melee. You aren't thinking about non-toggle defense and resist that you get from many buff sets (Time, Nature, Pain, etc) , but you need some decent recharge to make them perma. Do I "need" hasten? No, but it makes almost all of my builds better because I can choose different slotting and powers (including I-powers). And how can you not want perma dull pain, or faster knockout blow and foot stomp, and so many other powers that don't directly affect defense, resist, or regen but definitely creates damage mitigation and increases DPS? -
Hasten: Make it Inherent, or get rid of it?
Bionic_Flea replied to Abysmalyxia's topic in Suggestions & Feedback
The only way what you are saying makes sense is in AFK farming -- turn on all your toggles and a PBAoE on auto and go make a sandwich. Everything else is dynamic. Everyone is clicking buttons, the soft-capped, resist-capped brute as well as the rest of the team of squishies that are also soft-capped and resist-capped due to buffs on top of their own resources. And if you want to talk about endgame - give me a league of defenders, corrupters, and controllers vs one of brutes, tanks, and scrappers. -
Hasten: Make it Inherent, or get rid of it?
Bionic_Flea replied to Abysmalyxia's topic in Suggestions & Feedback
What do you think buffs do? Why, yes Johnny, they DO give out defense, resistance, regen and other goodies. Some are teammate only, but many are team-wide. (P.S. just like maneuvers). But even if they are teammate only, as a defender you want your meatshield and DPS upright and swinging. And debuffs might as well be buffs. If you are reducing your enemies' accuracy/tohit and damage you might as well consider that additional defense and resistance. -
Hasten: Make it Inherent, or get rid of it?
Bionic_Flea replied to Abysmalyxia's topic in Suggestions & Feedback
Hasten CAN increase survivability in several ways: Buffs, debuffs, and heals are available to be used more often. Tier9 armors are available to be used more often. Soft and hard controls are available to be used more often. Attacks are available to be used more often. (Dead men tell no tales) -
Hasten: Make it Inherent, or get rid of it?

When I get a set of +recharge inspirations (small, medium, large, dual, team) I would consider a removal, reduction, or revamp of hasten. Until then . . . no, thank you. -

Bionic_Flea replied to Honey Pie 143's topic in Suggestions & Feedback
A) I don't have GM status. B) I actually do play . . . a lot. C) How would you know if you were seeing GM_Kal play without the GM status? D) If you think creating the power-sets with themes, values, animations and other coding stuff is easier than clicking a few buttons repeatedly, then I think you are most definitely spouting hot air. *hoorrrb* E) I am not a GM or a dev . . . but I did stay at a Holiday Inn . . . once . . . a few years ago. -

Discussion: Disabling XP No Longer Increases Influence
Bionic_Flea replied to Jimmy's topic in General Discussion
Do you mean orange/rare salvage or +damage inspirations or something else? -
Pun intended? I looked over the build and it's certainly interesting. It seems more like a Mastermind build in some respects. Much of the damage is coming from the pets while you provoke, debuff, and terrorize the neighborhood.. I wonder if it would be worth pushing that idea further and picking up the seer for say . . . possess. Slight loss of recharge for an extra damage pet. And if we drop presence pool (although somewhat contrary to this exercise) and pick up Combat Jumping and Shadow Field with a set of Unbreakable Constraints and some shuffling of IOs we end up at 176ish global recharge, 5 pets, and enough -tohit, -damage, +defense, regen, and healing to keep those pets, yourself, and anyone else upright while your enemies are afeared, held, disoriented, on their backs, or just plain dead. Interesting indeed.

I KNEW it!

The fear and -tohit are separate affects. Also, not all fears have -tohit as an additional affect.
