  1. Isn't that Desdemona in the center picture in blue?
  2. Need and want are different things. You don't get XP from surviving, you get XP from defeating things. Hasten lets you use your best powers more often. But I don't think we are ever going to agree so . . . carry on.
  3. Exactly. You are thinking of this from the sole perspective as melee. You aren't thinking about non-toggle defense and resist that you get from many buff sets (Time, Nature, Pain, etc) , but you need some decent recharge to make them perma. Do I "need" hasten? No, but it makes almost all of my builds better because I can choose different slotting and powers (including I-powers). And how can you not want perma dull pain, or faster knockout blow and foot stomp, and so many other powers that don't directly affect defense, resist, or regen but definitely creates damage mitigation and increases DPS?
  4. The only way what you are saying makes sense is in AFK farming -- turn on all your toggles and a PBAoE on auto and go make a sandwich. Everything else is dynamic. Everyone is clicking buttons, the soft-capped, resist-capped brute as well as the rest of the team of squishies that are also soft-capped and resist-capped due to buffs on top of their own resources. And if you want to talk about endgame - give me a league of defenders, corrupters, and controllers vs one of brutes, tanks, and scrappers.
  5. What do you think buffs do? Why, yes Johnny, they DO give out defense, resistance, regen and other goodies. Some are teammate only, but many are team-wide. (P.S. just like maneuvers). But even if they are teammate only, as a defender you want your meatshield and DPS upright and swinging. And debuffs might as well be buffs. If you are reducing your enemies' accuracy/tohit and damage you might as well consider that additional defense and resistance.
  6. Hasten CAN increase survivability in several ways: Buffs, debuffs, and heals are available to be used more often. Tier9 armors are available to be used more often. Soft and hard controls are available to be used more often. Attacks are available to be used more often. (Dead men tell no tales)
  7. When I get a set of +recharge inspirations (small, medium, large, dual, team) I would consider a removal, reduction, or revamp of hasten. Until then . . . no, thank you.
  8. That's my second cousin, Bionic Bedbug.
  9. A) I don't have GM status. B) I actually do play . . . a lot. C) How would you know if you were seeing GM_Kal play without the GM status? D) If you think creating the power-sets with themes, values, animations and other coding stuff is easier than clicking a few buttons repeatedly, then I think you are most definitely spouting hot air. *hoorrrb* E) I am not a GM or a dev . . . but I did stay at a Holiday Inn . . . once . . . a few years ago.
  10. It's there. Look in tough.
  11. Here's my Earth/Earth build:
  12. Do you mean orange/rare salvage or +damage inspirations or something else?
  13. Pun intended? I looked over the build and it's certainly interesting. It seems more like a Mastermind build in some respects. Much of the damage is coming from the pets while you provoke, debuff, and terrorize the neighborhood.. I wonder if it would be worth pushing that idea further and picking up the seer for say . . . possess. Slight loss of recharge for an extra damage pet. And if we drop presence pool (although somewhat contrary to this exercise) and pick up Combat Jumping and Shadow Field with a set of Unbreakable Constraints and some shuffling of IOs we end up at 176ish global recharge, 5 pets, and enough -tohit, -damage, +defense, regen, and healing to keep those pets, yourself, and anyone else upright while your enemies are afeared, held, disoriented, on their backs, or just plain dead. Interesting indeed.
  14. The fear and -tohit are separate affects. Also, not all fears have -tohit as an additional affect.
  15. I skant even . . .
  16. I Sikh what you did there.
  17. I'd call that a close and personal relationship. I itch your back, you try to scratch mine . . .
  18. But Jimmy, why can't I use my close and personal relationship with you to invoke fear in the hearts of other players?
  19. I had forgotten that a successfull Assassin Strike has a chance to inflict fear on those close to the target. Dark/Dark stalker with Water Spout, presence pool, and the vigilante power, fear incarnate, might be the most fear you can get out of a CoH character. I had made similar builds to Yomo's stalker and SuperPhysx's scrapper but as Brute and Tanker. I'll post below for comparison: Brute Tanker
  20. I'd love for there to be insect themed power sets! And this was a nice layout and plan for a control set. My only criticism is the low mag controls. I understand your thinking behind it, but it just makes it a weak control set compared to all others. To work, the recharges would have to be super fast and the endurance costs super low. And even then it just becomes the tedium of having to activate and animate the same power twice to get the effectiveness of a single application from another control set.
  21. I came back to make this statement but DSorrow beat me to it. Having account-bound items will not diminish farming. People want what they want and they want it now! If they could not buy on the /AH they would farm merits for the deterministic purchase or farm more AE to get more drops that could be converted or shared with an alt.
  22. No, thank you. I like being able to sell and purchase purple IOs at my own convenience.
  23. Oooh! I forgot about [fear incarnate] and that [water spout] had a fear component. Good ones!
