  1. Are AVs immune to End Drain and/or -Recovery or is it just that they shrug off the effects very fast? What of a team of End Drainers? How would that hobble them?
  2. Gaussian's Chance for Build Up is interesting insofar that I like to use it but I'm unclear as to where its best position is? To put it in a Build Up/Aim type power seems... odd. If it activates when the power is used that seems strange - unless it gives double the damage?
  3. wow ok I learned something new here. Mids clearly isn't giving me the whole story. Not sure why that is but thanks for the explanations
  4. This is interesting I'm lookin on Mids and Power Sink on an Sentinel Electric Armour does: Recovery -197.49% (4 secs) while Ball Lighting and Short Circuit from Sentinel Electric Blast does no -Recovery Similarly on an Elec Blaster - again in Mids - there is no -Recovery from Short Circuit or Ball Lightning that I can see. That is at odds with what you've just said and needs clarification.
  5. Elec/Elec Blasters are good at End Drain but can be tricky because nobody can drain end while munching carpet. I've had excellent results with my all Electric Sentinel, because while the end drain may not be as high, it stays upright much much longer than a blaster. Remember that your attack chain is important - because whilst Short Circuit and Ball Lightning are great at draining end from multiple foes, only Power Sink reduces their recovery - and again to use two of those powers specifically you have to be in melee range to be effective. That said the Sent's APP is crap at -End while the Blaster has a good hold in Shocking Bolt
  6. This question's spun out of my Scaling Resist Damage thread - but I didn't want this question to get buried in that nor did I want that to become derailed by this. Obviously LotG Global Recharge seems to be pretty important on most builds. I think many people want to slot about 17*. I also go for a couple of others almost always these days. I invariably choose the Kismet: Accuracy +6% and the Steadfast Protection: Resistance/+3% procs I will also go for Numina's Regen/Recovery as absolutely necessary and the Heal which isn't technically a proc but they almost always go in my Health. I will invariably slot Performance Shifter: Chance for End in Endurance and if I can stick another somewhere I will usually give it a go because they are cheap boosts to End. Optional Procs to me are Unbreakable Guard: +Max HP, Shield Wall +Res(Teleportation), +5% Res (All) and a few others. A lot will depend on the capital in Inf or Merits I want to spend on a particular build. If I like it and will play it a lot it obviously gets a lot more love and attention than one that's gone to 50 and only comes out on high days and holidays. I'm just interested in what the general sense is and how you, dearest reader, decide to utilise your builds for carrying procs - so my assumption here is that you have a significant emotional investment in the toon plus plenty of merits and inf to back that up with. *don't be so bloody stupid!
  7. Fixed that for you
  8. Asking questions about proliferation can be recursive and proliferation questions lead to more questions about proliferation giving you a proliferation of proliferation questions
  9. I really enjoyed the way it brought so many together working & cooperating together. I ran one character from level 1 to level 40 just doing them which was fun over the last couple of days of the event. I'm rather sad that...
  10. I guess if funds are unlimited whatever you build is going to outperform an average build unless you've done something horribly wrong (looking at you, six slotted brawl!) I'd also suggest that if you have a penchant for a particular AT, powerset or play style, you're always going to enjoy that more than something you are unfamiliar with. That said I can see that a few billion extra inf would work wonders on the following: SoA - follow the centre "Huntsman" path. I had one on live and even averagely slotted it produced a veritable sea of orange digits and was tough as hell. I was able to solo the ITF on it, on live, which was an accomplishment. Ice/En/Ice Blaster. I played one again on live and they were my third 50 ever when Ice was one of the highest ST damaging toons in game. It certainly hit like a mule and had a couple of useful AoEs too so giving that an ultimate build would be there or thereabouts even now I reckon. Plant/Storm/Dark - I've never actually played this combo of controller but I imagine it would be amazing if fully kitted out. Great debuffs and mitigation combined with great control and pretty good damage. If I had the inf and wasn't already working on so many I would be tempted to try it...
  11. To be fair, I almost never dust my saws
  12. useful info. Lots of reading. many thanks
  13. When I convert something using either a chainsaw or a converter, what do I get? I'm talking specifically about crafted invention recipes - once I've crafted it, then I want something different, how do I know what I'm likely to get? I've noticed a pattern one a few sets. They don't seem to just change randomly - but I've not yet been able to discern if they are grouped into categories or there is some other defined way of changing them. Is there perhaps a recursive tree pattern? I is puzzled. Is there an answer?
  14. I successfully used that on a different character but didn't have it available on that
  15. What are the things that suddenly grab you by the head and lift you high? They are not insuperable to deal with but somewhat annoying. I did get one that killed a low level toon because I didn't have a jet pack or other travel power and I was already damaged so the fall killed me. Is there a way to avoid them?
  16. Every silver lining has a cloud!
  17. We won't ever see wind control However we might smell it!
  18. I'm strongly getting the sense - both through reading responses here and also through play - that this is a Proc that isn't worth much for squishies. I could even say that it scales. The more HP you have, the better it suits you. If you're the proverbial "glass cannon" (sounds like a camera with an expensive lens) then your HP is gone before it can effectively kick in. I would suggest it also works best on Res based ATs. I think both Invincible Woman (Elec/Kin Tank) and Scarlet Shocker's best iteration (All Elec Sent) benefit from it greatly but I think my experience with electric blasters (close on 19 years) tells me that she'll be toast before it can be effective. I suspect it would be useful for Barbizilla - my Regen Brute - but that's yet to be tested though she has a much higher res than def. Appreciate everyone's input here. Many thanks team!
  19. Hi Just popping in to say hello and remind you that I'm all about radiation. Also, without me, you'd be completely fucked. kthxbai
  20. Serious question: Can those pieces be slotted in different powers or should they be combined in the same one? I think they should work wherever placed but... sometimes vagaries in the game, combined with my own incomplete understanding, confuse me On a wider note, and I thank you for all your great commentary, I have further questions. It seems this is beneficial primarily to high HP toons that are able to soak damage. Tanks, Brutes, SoA, etc. Blasters, Trollers, otehr squishies, not so much. Is that a fair assessment? If that is a correct extrapolation, what would work better for said squishies?
  21. See, this is why everyone loves @Snarky This is supra-genius. This blows President Musk into the weeds with its erudite, concise, explanatory comment. I red this response and I feel dumb for simply having asked the question. I am not worthy. Thanks you, worshipful Snarkster!
  22. Building a blaster and slotting Hover and this one always puzzles me. What does it actually do, what are its mechanics, is it worth it? So many questions... I leave it to you knowledge based genii to inform me
  23. I'd not really thought of this much until @Snarky posted the thread, but it has made me consider them in greater depth and the more I think about it, the more I dislike them. My reasoning is quite simple and I'll try to explain as concisely as possible. Let's assume for the moment that my character is running out of End and also needs Healing. At the same time. I can pop a blue in green and all's right with the world. Everything is fixed and we can continue with the mayhem. Except that almost never happens exactly when... so suddenly I'm either needing some blue, or some green, and I pop one because it's all I've got - I have buyer's remorse because I've literally just wasted half that precious insp's value. A similar scenario is the red/yellows. I remember many years ago on live, Arcana explained why popping a single yellow was pointless. The details of why and wherefore are forgotten to me but I remember that it was usually necessary to pop two small yellows to be effective otherwise a single one gave you pretty well nothing. So popping a red/yellow seems like you'd need to pop two anyhow. Pointless! If the small red/yellows have the same values as a standard red or standard yellow, then to gain any benefit from them you'd need to pop 4. That's not viable. Orange/Purples: I am playing a character that is usually either defence or resistance focused. If I'm over 50 my build is probably there, or thereabouts, as good as I want it to be. So if I've got a strong res build, then the purple element is likely to have minimal effect. So it's wasted, and vice versa. There's clearly a caveat here in that I'm oversimplifying for the sake of example and I've never probed their values in depth but my core point is that when I use an Insp, I use it because I need that component, not the other thing - and so I don't experience the value of it, rather I see it more as a loss. That's a phenomena known well in Economics. I don't think these things add much value to my playing experience. See Richard Thaler for more on behavioural economics if you are interested. But one good thing I've learned from this thread is that I can turn them off at the START so I'm giving serious consideration to that or vending them
