Primitive weapons as power sets: Feasibility?
Scarlet Shocker replied to Scarlet Shocker's topic in General Discussion
Wow... I'd forgotten them too. I also realized I omitted slings, which is an important primitive weapon too. It also has a biblical reference as some might recall... as does the jawbone of an ass. The latter one is probably less doable and it would be very unfair to deprive @Snarky of the power of speech! 🤣 -
Primitive weapons as power sets: Feasibility?
Scarlet Shocker replied to Scarlet Shocker's topic in General Discussion
I'm not old enough to remember when that movie was good. I think most primitive weapons have dual function as a missile weapon and club... other than clubs themselves which once thrown away tend to display sub par performance subsequently. Ultimately most weapons are about delivering significant amounts of kinetic energy to an opponent before they can do it to you but I think a ranged "prim weapon set" might have all the above as part of the set - just with different models and animations as appropriate. I genuinely hadn't considered blow guns as a weapon so thanks for that suggestion and I agree all origin types can be accommodated. Natural is simply great skill in utility, whereas Science and Tech give options for targeting and different ordnance in payload. Mutant can be great aim and/or strength and magic can do anything you bloody like mate it's magic. -
Primitive weapons as power sets: Feasibility?
Scarlet Shocker replied to Scarlet Shocker's topic in General Discussion
I like the thought of it being a power pool or maybe an APP even. I'd not considered that but it could work. I think pool powers tend to have other abilities, like travel or boost to de/buffs but as an APP Boomerang could have a lot of potential, maybe adding Stun as a secondary effect? -
I was watching a youtube about boomerangs and it occurred to me it might make a very good weapon for ranged and melee weapon sets. Similarly an atl-atl would be a good ranged weapon and also might provide some melee ability using the launcher as a club. I like the thought of these, but I don't know how practicable it would be to create sets. There'd be a lot of new animations, and I don't know if we have the capability to do that yet but that's a serious consideration. Also while it is great to get more power sets, is a ranged damage set the highest priority? I'm not sure that it is. Also in a game where technology and magic feature heavily, is a power set that effectively involves "throwing a lump of wood" really in keeping with the game? (Explosive boomerangs?) I like the thought but there's a nagging doubt in the back of my mind that it could be made to work effectively.

I have a good deal of sympathy with this but I think in many ways, the issue is not with the levels but how easy the game has become over the years. Even on a team of peers, where there is nobody theoretically "better" or higher level it seems a few on the team will just steamroller the mobs at the front leaving others to follow behind cleaning up detritus and otherwise mindlessly button mashing without the need to give thought to their actions. Personally I think it's a massive issue in the game and the gradual erosion of challenge is a potentially fatal flaw in the modern game but I seem to be one of the few voices to even mention it, and even fewer in favour of something of a reset. That said, I'm not a decision maker and I don't play that often these days so I have no doubt the direction of travel will continue

"Street" Giant Monsters and guaranteed elimination
Scarlet Shocker replied to Techwright's topic in General Discussion
It was not uncommon on live for folks to fail to kill Babbage when he spawned in Skyway City during the Synapse TF. It was a common practice to call out for help (the players on the Synapse team would be around lvl 15/20 IIRC) and Babbage would spawn as a proper GM - so if nobody came to help it could well mean a team wipe. -
Which is to entirely misrepresent my point and you have a lot of choices. You have many MM options and plenty of other ATs besides. So sorry you can't get exactly what you want
-
I agree with most of this. The only reason to skip content and get levels quickly is to reach a point where you can join your friends in playing the same content. There is some truly outstanding content in this game and the OP has missed a tonne. Worth making a new character and starting afresh. I'd strongly advise avoiding DFB and DIB and running actual content, especially the Hollows

I wondered this myself or was Iron Man Tony Stark somehow "reincarnated" with the soulstones to become Dr Doom?

none of you devs are hip enough for coke!

I first saw this, and thought it was a prank I remember at the beginning of MCU there was a strict policy of all actors get one shot in the MCU... they couldn't ever replay a different character. Frankly, with a few minor exceptions, MCU went south after Captain America: Civil War and the turd of Endgame is only barely matched by our very own Incarnates story. (More on that later*) But here we have an interesting conundrum. Is Iron Man reincarnated as VVD? Is it an alternative universe Iron Man (Victor von Stark?) for me, RDj was a centerpiece of the MCU, and the first movies were outstanding (even IM2 & 3) But what we see here is exciting. Have Marvel finally got their act back together for MCU phase 16? Let's hope *not this thread

Quite a few. I'm guessing the OP's ancient summer research project came to naught!

I'd have to decide who my main villain actually is. In practice it would distill to a choice between Huntsman Strauss and Barbed Quarrel. BQ is a Plant/TA troller and if I have to explain Huntsman to you then why are you reading this? Scarlet Shocker would probably lose quite badly to both of them under most scenarios.

It's simply enough, but some don't seem to get it Yes you can dress many toons up to be a particular faction and create their back story. But Character-specific pets are not aligned to a specific group for a very good reason; they create player choice. You can choose your own head cannon, but it is not the same as the player's next to you. If you align pets to a particular group that task makes imagination much harder. Live with what you have and celebrate the choice. Sorry you didn't like my first response @pawstruck but trust me, this gives you many more options and is far better in the long run for the game and your personal enjoyment!

Do Tital Pool bonus effects stack?
Scarlet Shocker replied to KrakenAZ's topic in General Discussion
Glad you corrected the tital -
Why are thugs not gangsters? Because then they'd be gangsters, not thugs. We have the Family and we don't need those as pets. MM pets should be very different from in game enema groups
