  1. Superadyne, Excelsior, and so many other pathways to gain real power in the Cities. Slightly altering, or supercharging, or completely altering these and other sources of power are the stuff of many (freaking many many) story arcs in the game. Then.... there is the Well of Furies. Enigmatic, unfathomable, and the most powerful of all. You could write an AE story Arc about the Well being the underlying source of ALL the power that makes magical artifacts, drugs, superscience, and temporal manipulation work in the City. It is written as that powerful in the CoH metaverse. An easy slide into reality as it were.
  2. If the Homecoming Team had made the special effect for the tier 9 the effect of Super Strength Knockout Blow applied to each mob hit I would be as amazed by this set as I am by the Dr Aeon Task Force and the detailed intricacy displayed in the crafting and reward structure thereof. They didn't. I'm not.
  3. Will not play the set. It is 1) ugly. 2) not efficient. 3). I have no earth power stories to tell. This set does not inspire me to look for any either take an ice/cold Corruptor. Not my favorite type of nuke. Not a concept (ice) i have a lot of ideas for. But so danged efficient I worked to create one. give me an ugly set with a tier 9 that launches mobs in all directions and can barely be tamed by sacrificing a enhancer slot…..hard pass
  4. I thought it was higher based on the visual squirts I have seen lol
  5. 1) So limit the use of your nuke. (I tend to lead with mine whenever it is up. But okay. Just keep that for...some other time. 2) Energy Blast has 2 circular AoE KB powers. Are there Tanks in each direction on your team. a) do you really need that many tanks b) how do you coordinate throughout the mission so they always encircle mobs? 3) So you only KB nuke easier targets? Interesting strategy. Does that work for you? Or do you only run easy content?
  6. META.... The true META in CoH is being able to take anything (including the new meteor blast set I was just disparaging...) and play a character who is straight from your imagination. You want the BESTEST? Run a Fire/Fire Blaster and learn to speed run. Game over. Yawn. You want years of enjoyment? Write two sentences (or two books....) describing your character and then craft the character in CoH choosing Archetype, powersets, power pools, incarnate abilities, alignment, enhancer set build out. Design your character in one of the most generous character creator screens in the MMORPG universe. Level the character. Slowly (I have a project soloing every contact, since October, now at 29. Or get to 50 in a few hours and start running Incarnate Trials and exemplar down to run all the content you breezed past with a twinked out 50 that is nerfed (but not completely) to the level range of the content you want to run. META. Having a great time! Enjoy the City. Glad you made it.
  7. It's the nuke..... You get a choice of a nuke you can only 5 slot so you can throw a nerf proc in it (reports are that does not work perfectly) or you get a nuke Energy Blasters (long shunned by fast teams) would be jealous of the knockback on....
  8. I have successfully not posted this for….many days. But i just worked 24 of the last 48 hours and the Snark is roaring… In a world…where we have went through so much… In a dimension…that so many of us thought we had lost… In a time…when so many of us are confused…about why the H the NEW Blaster set is all about knockback! Did someone not bolt your robotic components on straight before you sat down to design this set? Have you quit cigarettes cold turkey and this was the brain dying? Did you get attacked by a water monster and the earth seemed comforting? Just tell us, we will listen. We will judge, sure. But we will listen.
  9. Pool Boy, a strange sidekick type super who is quite versatile at getting places and of limited use once there....
  10. i am using a best buy rig from 2 years ago. it is excellent. omen 875 intel i7 9700 3.0 ghz, 16gb ram, 64bit, output to a 55 inch samsung tv rig was around 900 on a thanksgiving sale. tv was 650? i think
  11. I would love to see a Task Force that pushed deeper into the Dr Vahzilok storyline. Yes, we got lovely story arcs on blueside and redside recently that added depth there. And whetted my appetite for more and more and more. It would be truly spectacular if it was not red/blue but instead like DFB or a holiday event. Maybe with a hook that makes it logical to form in Pocket D or RWZ. Then mixed teams could enjoy the madness
  12. This is generally more of a thing after 30. There are some things you can do for a build before 30 with I/Os but SOs are more powerful slot for slot until after 30 and set bonuses are difficult to maximize
  13. I believe a lot of posting on boards is self exploration. People looking for insight and similar/conflicting outlooks on a topic. It is also interesting to read posts that challenge the "why" of something. That can say a lot about the topic. It can also give information on people's attitudes about others posts.
  14. For me the ride at 50 is twofold. Yes, I do get an endorphin rush from blasting more powerful abilities and better defenses. But, while more subtle, the satisfaction of teaming with great players and running content is remarkable Enjoy your style of play. I am not sure if you solo more or team a lot or mix it up. I currently have a 29 Brute I am soloing every contact in the game on. Red/Blue/Gold. 25-29 Blue is….. not quick. I have been at this project since early October. Granted I work full time and have a lot of SG activities on other characters, so it does not have my full attention. If you want to explore a playstyle this type of project might be for you
  15. Voted. Total votes are 70 right now. So I have some electoral status. heh. Homecoming with a slight lead.
  16. Go! Do it! We are the best! errrr.... um. Go where?
  17. Yeah. No. 1) you over think this 2) many simpler (and arguably better) solutions have been offered 3) they will do nothing 3a) catering to they “waaah you wanna steal my double stack” crowd by doing nothing is easier than fixing a long standing issue
  18. Willpower is great. The only reason I do not use it is that Invulnerability (when properly built) is better. You do have to build Willpower to play to its strengths, then play it that way. Do not try to “fix” Willpower by building it like Invulnerability. Built it for more health, add in sorcery Rune of Protection. Alternate Willpower’s Strength of Will, Rune of Protection, and orange inspirations to handle the nastiest Alphas. It is truly a powerful Armor built correctly. In my opinion. As long as you do not spend all your I/O budget trying to turn it into Invulnerability’s little brother that is
  19. Here is a Elec/Temp Blaster (that i think) pushes Blaster survivability as far as it can go. Surpassing Sentinels even, again, in my opinion. This is achieved by being VERY (only...) far ranged and using high ranged defense. But wait, there's more. This build has Phase Shift. A power from the Invisibility pool that grants you 30 seconds of complete safety. Wait, there's more. This build has Personal Force Field from Force Mastery, granting insanely high Defense. Granted, like with Phase Shift, you cannot affect anything. But...very safe. Wait, there's more. This build has Force of Nature, from the Force Mastery pool. When activated all Resistances except Psi are increased 35% and your End recovery is way increased. The build has 45% S/L resistance through set bonuses. The build does NOT do the damage of a Fire/Fire Blaster in Melee range. But if you can die while playing this build as designed you are in some deep crapola.... 20. Lol. I missed that quote somehow But i just posted something a couple hours ago in the Harken’s dead thread that I thought might get me censored…. (Any hint of censorship and someone will definitely need to take iver the mantle)
  21. Strangely enough I just did this mission. I am soloing the game (every contact, every arc, every side story. Red. Blue. Gold.) This mission was my first failure on this toon. A number of factors played into this. Multiple objectives. Purposefully confusing maps. Obsure mechanics. But I think we cannot overlook the underlying fact that the Dev who wrote this piece of shit was a complete asshole.
  22. It is an easy fix really. Take any small tool (although a hammer works best) and beat your PC speaker to death
  23. Alternate bodies / composite. Will be quirky no doubt. But having alternate lower bodies (centaurs, sphinx, even the hover platform leg thing the Freak has in redside Doc Buzzsaws new arc…). Alternate torsos. Even harder but any options are good options. Alternate heads. Large Bull/Lion/Robot/brains in jar/Demonic, etc Basically just step out from humanoid and into what is runnable…. I could even groove on running a police droid or something similar for quite a few power sets. Hardly any animation needed. (None but the effects). Although I would prefer an Arachnos droid to a police bot….of course
  24. Not that much better. Any improvement is remarkable. Yet Praetorian NPC regularly try to hump staircases for long minutes at a time. And there are a LOT of staircases in the under ground Prae maps....
