  1. It always depends on what you bring to the table. If you have loved range on every game and in every MMORPG you ever played, you will probably want a ranged character. (or as ranged as we get) Having said that Melee types are the most forgiving to newcomers, unshockingly. They have armor to help mitigate the issues when you walk into a trap we all know has been there for 10 years but it's your first rodeo. I personally love Brutes. My mains are Brutes, and a Tank badger. If you want to examine the game without being drawn into micro-examining every build and nuance I would say jump into the game on an Anything Attack / Willpower Armor Brute. Willpower Armor is something I used to solo all content on back years ago before shutdown. It is not the "Most this" or "Greatest at that" set. It is a wonderful armor that does a great job and you can pretty much ignore it and play. Whatever you choose, have fun! and welcome to Homecoming.
  2. MA is mostly smashing? how much? going to need a metric crapton...
  3. most servers have a public base. On Everlasting you use zone-8888 create a macro /macro ZONE enterbasefrompasscode ZONE-8888 fastest mission exit to base to new zone in town
  4. Belatedly the thought has occurred to me that is an excellent idea. I am actually going to start a base remodel and move from tech to magic caverns. Again, I do broad simple large stuff, so it is only a couple hour project total. I will rearrange the porters as I do this.
  5. I rage quit when they announced the shutdown. So I never really raised a torch either. Glad you are back, this community is excellent. They are even evolving the game, thoughtfully and carefully.
  6. Yeah, I just rebuilt a Brute I had on the shelf. 50'd, then incarnated to plus 3, and not really enough cash to build him. Now I figured the cash game. So.....I decided he wiould be my dedicated Redsider and be the one Brute with the Frenzy power I never get. ….and since I never run pure Redsiders….I was soooo confused lol
  7. Sad part is my porters are redside / blueside. Just wandered up to one looking for pocket D (which I keep on blueside…) and got twisted out of my head and yeah, I use zone-8888, faster. except my storage trays/etc are in my base. so when shopping or crafting I go there
  8. Going to leave this up. Because it is so me. and so funny. Someone spent 10 minutes offering suggestions in game, trying to help me. Then asked. You Redside? Because it was all my Blue connections you see. …./facepalm. Now I just got to rearrange the crazy crap I started throwing around the base in a fit of rage to try to fix the nonexistent problem.
  9. I never base edit. Hate the thing. Soi I set up a base and done. Today all the TP points on a porter stopped working. plaques are there. I deleted porter, replaced, same prob. grrrr.
  10. I ran a built out elec/elec Scrapper on live for a few months. Fully i/o’d. I never run scrappers. I was bery impressed. But then i alted. And in cash poor live that meant shattering the character for the i/o’s
  11. Everytime you activate it you loosen up your face / cheeks, open your mouth, violently shake your head back and forth going “Buddle buddle buddle buddle buddle” just email that to @Snarky. Thanks

    Dark Melee / Invul

I just slammed this build on. Had most of it on last night but needed to do Ghost Widows arc to get Soul Mastery. Did that, did Respec. Ran Tinpex. The build runs 'hot' in Tinpex. By that I mean it burns End (or is drained) Not enough to make it unfunctional, especially with high recharge and Dark Consumption. But definitely noticeable. I will try a heavy +level ITF and see if it runs hot there as well. I am currently exploring ideas for Incarnate Powers. I want more damage and still stay thematic to dark/undead

  15. My tactics are real similar including nailing engineers and ruin mages etc
  16. I incarnated a DM/Inv to 50+3 months ago. Stripped and parked it So many alts. So little time. So few enhancers lol I ran a fully built out DM/Inv back on live The thing was a fracking beast. i used an experts build (still my habit). The trick is the focus of the build is Recharge! I do not have a copy if that original build anymore. Damned Snap i have unpacked and started rebuilding the monster. I started with Hyperstrike’s Invul guide then layed in Brute ATO and winter sets. And 4 purple sets (or it will have, i need to open up soul mastery and do one more respec to cram on 2 purple sets in Soul Mastery) my thinking is this: if Brutes are in the sweetest spot if survival to damage in the game (I think they are) then a Dark/Inv Brute is in the sweet spot amongst all Brutes (it is pure vicious and near tank survivable)
  17. True, but old school Melee, even with a good build are superstitious about END issues. Can hardly blame them., CoT messes with End, Freakshow, Malta Sappers, Carnies are horrid on Melee End. I am sure Incarnate enemies (at least some) take swipes at your blue bar? That is what I mean, Melee just expects someone to try to drain.
  18. It sounds like a layering issue Where you look like you are in the same place but really the server has you in diff worlds. Real common in Warcraft
  19. Like everything it depends on your build. If you are running a Dark Armor melee you will cut off your arm to get a pure Rec proc. Most Brutes and Tanks take all 3 if they can fit them and afford them
  20. I just posted a SS/Will build that us solid if not absolutely perfect. An expert might squeeze more out of a build but it is pretty good i seem to have this discussion a lot lately. Willpower is a very very good armor set. I am hard to impress. Willpower impresses me. For endgame invulnerability will be slightly better most of the time. I am talking incarnate trials. But in at keast a couple trials with a lot if psionic damage Willpower will be better
  21. It is a keystone of your attack chain. The heal is great and sometimes the only thing keeping you up. But the primary function of the power is part of your core attack chain. On end hungy builds i throw a theft if essence proc into it for random end as well. That is truly random though. But the health and end are all secondary. It us a quick hard hitting attack. Slot it with a hard hitting attack set and you will find yourself not even wanting to use sands of mu. Why would you when you can peel your opponent fast with siphon life and get a health boost? My badger is an invul/ dark melee tank. Siphon Life is very important when burning down an AV
  22. Slot Siphon Life as a major attack power. You will thank me later
  23. Ouch. That sounds bad. I had a kill alm Ritki in a cave (including layer cake room) with many tunnels. After an hour i finally abandoned it and autocompleted with contact. Still pisses me off
  24. Then grab the first two attacks from dark and all the attacks from fighting. Again i run a lot of dark melee and Shadow Maul took a while to figure out bow to make effective. Lining the cone up is a little art form. I can generally sidestep and twist and get at least two even in small spawns. Trying to make SM and Sands work because they are graphically close to what you want i admire. I love art. But dig deeper artist. Look at other quick hitting powers that will fill the role. 1st two attacks from Super Strength? Both with alternate animations!
