    Frozen Aura

I started this ice/ice as a Blapper. But playing it, even with a desire to build like a blapper, Ice/Ice/Cold just is not that. Not to me. Ice Slick (very nice, no extra slots needed, situational, funny, effective, keeping) and Frozen Aura. Meh, 6 slotted, still Meh. very short range. Dropping it. Will reconfigure the slots, prob to softcap Ranged Def. The build naturally wants to work at the 20-50 range. (Cones and rains) backing up to 80ish for hard targets. (I like to give my victims room in case they get ornery) I will stay in the 20-30 range for quite a while if things are not craptastic. But with lining up cones and the ability to drop rains at a distance I just dont see Ice desperately needing to augment Point Blank and go there. Drop Ice Slick and retreat....errrr retrograde while laying into the enemy. My fast paced team version of this is to jump AHEAD of the team, other side of the big spawns. Drop Ice patch and start dropping AoE, cones, rains, etc. Let the team and the mobs (slowly) come to me.
  2. Go Milk/Psychic and name the toon "Milk of Amnesia"
  3. Badges. If I gotta explain what badges are....well. I am not going to. If you do not badge buy the field crafter power from P2W if you want the toy. otherwise....move on.
  4. Super. pronounced like super. if you dont got that, then I cannot help you. a. well. again, a. pronounced like a. not ah. not aaaaaa not augh. just "a" dine, pronounced like "dean" Dean of a school. Dean from Supernatural. "Super-a-dean."
  5. You can put a Knockback to Knockdown proc in it? WoW!!! I Had no idea. That is soooooo coooool. And it only uses ONE of the so many slots we have. Precious joy, what a boon. thank you. Thank you.
  6. kill the knockback. Knockback in Dark....wtf? Why? make the Tier 9 range. or even range cone like Cryonic Judgement. Dark works better from Range, with to hit debuffs and ranged heals. The cones instead of any ball attack only strengthen the synergy. You need to be out facing your enemy most of the time. at at least some range to line up the cones. Ooops, break for tier 9. get in center, t9, get bak to edge for tedious re line up of cones. If the T9 did not force constant repositioning the cones would be a lot freaking easier to use.
  7. i do not get a knife reaction. don't want one. can i get some vampire teeth though? to show i really want to Snark the crap out of the post, but just dont think it deserves more than an emoticon?
  8. I use my mouse a lot on buttons, especially on complicated setups . But I always set up 20 buttons in two trays for my Razer Tarterus hotkey pad. So, i set that up as usual. Then i added another tray that is the 6 variations of the two rains (standard, self target, loc at distant target) added my two native cones and my Incarnate nuke (chose the ice cone) and finally the targeted AoE sleep. This gives me a whole tray of AoE ranged options as long as i havent lost my mouse cursor. heh. I am getting better about that. When i do lose the cursor I can default to button clicking on the Tarterus. Although with the targeted AoE on the rains....I still need the mouse. Hmmmm.... May switch that to one of the created hot buttons. Yeah, that will help. Prob the target self one. If combat is that screwy there is no doubt I am right up on it.
  9. Thank you so much! Does this by any chance create the "power buttons" for the power trays? Or how do you activate them? I prefer power buttons. My setup is using a Razer Tarterus for when I "lose" the mouse in the madness

What is the radius on this? You say Footstomp I think big. MiDs has it as radius 10
  11. Is anything balanced? An interesting metaphorical question. More to the point while some games may, at first glance, appear balanced they are not. Clever players quickly find the exploits and work arounds. Do we then pretend the clever solutions do not exist and continue to call it 'balanced?' Entropy increases folks. Entropy increases...
  12. Playing this thing at 50 is a hoot. Sometimes i think i went overboard with the control type slow powers. The team just steamrolls crap and i am like...but i got toys. Then at the end of the LGTF I am surrounded by a few hundred aliens, teammates off chasing AVs, and boy does this thing start to shine. Everybody take a chill pill, i'll kill you in a sec...
  13. I have my first iteration of my Blapper 50d and Respec'd. I have run him in a few low level TFs and over the next couple days will be doing ITFs and late game stuff, opening incarnates etc. While "Blappery" to me you will notice most are somewhat ranged....errr all but one... wait, none....are melee. Sure, I got some PBAoE melee in there (quite a bit actually) but the radii are fat and i'm happy staying a few feet away. The tactics in low level TFs (time available) is to drop ice patch right out of the range of the mobs. Then Aim, Build up, Big attacks, rains etc. Then I move backwards hitting with cones and ST. I think of this maneuver as a "Kaufman Retrograde" from an old Star Trek game. Basically fly the Enterprise backward so anything chasing you eats photon torpedoes as fast as you can sling them out. AR/Device Blasters probably think of it as setting the battlefield then letting your enemies enjoy the terrain. The slows really make the time more relaxing. Any suggestions for a rebuild are appreciated. I had some 'extra' slots and got funky with Frigid Protection. I tend to not like Proc Monster builds. I just love set bonuses really. But I went crazy there. The order I took the powers in is a bit off because i used my Ice/Temp as a base and it just did not line up right. But I did not want to hand redo every enhancer in MiDs for a perfect fit this run. Been running this guy a lot lol. 14. I normally do not "Proc out" many powers. However, in looking at my rough Ice/Ice/Cold Blapper I just started playing with Frigid protection. Does it make sense to put these Procs in it: Performance Shifter: Chance for +End Preventive Medicine: Chance for +Absorb Power Transfer: Chance to Heal Self Theft of Essence: Chance for +Endurance Pacing of the Turtle: Chance of -Recharge Touch of the Nictus: Chance for Negative Energy Damage It is one of the odd powers (common in Ice it seems) that have no accuracy. They just 'happen' and the danged thing has a 30' radius!

    Frozen Aura

Can you folks help me understand Frozen Aura from Ice Manipulation secondary. Is it good? Is it worth using? Did it used to be a toggle? Does it have +damage in it? So many weird questions. Is it worth slotting a set of Superior Avalanche in?

    Best Blappers?

My first attempt is a Ice/Ice/Cold. Just hit level 40. This is through a combo of self farming and a few TFs. I have run a Posi 1, a Synapse, and a Silver Mantis. I will try to get a Posi 2 and a Yin tonight. My "ranged" Blaster is Ice/Temp. I found one of the oddities of my ranged Blaster that is Ice (while fully ranged, including Nuke) is one of the 'shorter' range Blaster sets. No snipe, cone is real close, etc. I decided (partly on the surprising advice Ice is a good Blapper secondary) to go with Ice/Ice and see what happens. I am finding it powerful at low level. Of course, with sets running low level TFs what Blapper is not powerful? I wanted to stack all the Ice secondary effects. Which is why I chose to unify the powersets. Also, I got a character concept, sort of "Death Knight Wizard Lich Thing" I do love a character concept. As I 50 and start "real TFs" (incarnate trials/ +4/8 ITFs, LRSF, MLTF, LGTF...) I will see if the set blooms for me or fades. I am definitely going to level a Fire/Elec to see what the fuss is about. Too much buzz to not check that thing out. What would be the natural Epic/ancillary/patron pool for that combo? Thanks all to the great advice. It has really helped me and inspired me to try this crazy playstyle. Mage Tanking the Synapse was quite fun actually. Only a couple times did I get in serious trouble. But I downed some inspirations and fought on.
  17. my third alt build (it is a dark/dark brute), i have a 'normal' build, a 'tank' build (Rune of Prot and Taunt squeezed on), and a "travel power" build. although i have not been on the slopes since the travel power changes. i am a crappy badger in truth lol
  18. oh, i let my league know (on discord, my SG... } every now and again i remind them of it. old guilt is the best guilt. There is an art to being Snarky.
  19. I need (not want....no, not want at all. Need these badges.) So Thanks. The closest I came on the bunny slope was about a month ago waiting for a Really Hard Way attempt. i was just puttering through the slopes. Horrid, as usual. Then one attempt I hit every corner perfect. I was on the last two (easy for me) gates. I was headed for all the badges. League Incandescence Port. I have still not emotionally recovered. yes, it was on my badger. Who still NEEDS those F-ing badges....
  20. I do appreciate you bringing this up. I, and I am not the only one, am so greatful to have this game back. We must be diligent in protecting it. Now, from the other perspective. Creativity. it is HARD to do something original. We are not all Bob Ross after all. And, think for a second, what if Bob Ross hated his own style? Not saying he did. But what if he had that natural landscape ability, looked at his work, and thought. "Crap." Would he stop painting? Or start trying to emulate Picasso? Most of us are not a Bob Ross, or a Stan Lee, of character development. Any beginning artist starts with copying the masters in their medium. My main is a Nosferatu that is as close as I can create copy of Murnau's Nosferatu, portrayed originally be Max Shreck. Seen in my profile pick being copied by Willem Dafoe. The Blaster I created last night is a Skull sitting in a Black Knight suit of armor. Derivative of so many horror titles. Not a "copy' per se, but far from original. I am writing the backstory currently but it is very inspired by Tolkein's Sauron. Will be different. Less than 6 feet tall, can see Skull clearly, Ice/Ice/Ice powers. Yet the DNA will be there. I owe the inspiration to create the character to my days, weeks...years? enjoying Tolkein's stories. Basically we need to police, for the good of the community. But go gently my friends. Peeps are just trying to create and enjoy. Mostly. Except people that do McDonald clones. i hate that F-ing clown. Ban them.

    Best Blappers?

I have (mostly) achieved my goal of a fully ranged Blaster. Two actually, that i like. Elec/Temp/Force, and Ice/Temp/Ice. Now, with great trepidation, I look at placing my fragile self directly in the crapper. PBAoE most of the time. What are the best Blaster powerset combos to achive this with? i am talking for general all around teaming, a LOT of Task Forces and Incarnate Trials. THis is not a science project for clearing a map on a stop watch. What actually WORKS best when playing the game with others? I have been looking at the pick my Blaster thread. Fire stands out as a primary. How could it not? But then Radiation with the big hold on the nuke looks interesting. Of course I love Dark. But looking for more round aoE than cones. Fire/Temp has interesting synergy. As does....Fire/Ice. Those cone from fire mixed with the fat lazy cone from ice would be hilarious to cast. Dark/Temp would make a solid Blapper. I would consider Dark/Dark. But trying to nail the Soul Drain before the Nuke takes a special kind of crazy I am not sure I have. A Rad/Rad/Force also looks interesting, powerwise and conception all working together (jumpbot 2300 series!) Thanks.
  22. i am semi-literal , errr some of the time. i seriously thought the only tutorial available was the shivan galaxy thing. did they change that?
  23. danged i wish we had the option to start a toon in there still.
  24. no. wait....no....not good for that either. no.
  25. isnt that the old breakout mission?
