  1. I have been back three weeks. After an alt mania start I am settling into my old style of play. A lot of soloing I soloed redside a few times back in the day. Never fully siloed blue on one character Since I have the opportunity I am once again going to Solo all Redside content. Every contact every mission. Some things have changed since the old days. I am using the stop exp at every 5 levels. (4,9,14,etc) method I am going by memory (not good) Paragon wiki (inaccurate), find contacts tab (seems a little wonky), and hitting the bank to get all. Rocker contacts until that stops producing results. If anyone can point out any other resources I would appreciate I chose a Dark/Invul Brute for the run. Using Sorcery flight to help TP stealth misssions. I will get a +stealth proc when I can afford it. Of course DFB and DiB bonuses make it easier than the old days. Currently level 14 and finishing up Port Oakes before moving to Cap. Had the Gull switch me to Rogue and will probably run Blueside Task Force content as well as I level
  2. Things have changed, and for the better, in our new world. You can take a travel power without a wasted power choice The fitness pool is free. Was that live 23? I forget Sooo. The art of smash. I am wondering what attacks I should take. I never take hand clap or hurl. Personal preference. I am taking both the tier 1 and tier 2 a luxury I think I never got before. Is the fighting pool worth investing in beyond the one attack necessary to open up tough and weave? They look fun but are they efficient? I am not talking super optimal but I just do. It want to I. Eat in dogs. I have one character with the last fighting cone. I have not run it much but never seem to hit more than one. And I run a lot of Dark Melee so I can land a crap cone in combat at least 1/3 time it presents itself. Any hints chats or thoughts are welcome. I run SS on both Will and Invul. It this is about a SS/Invul if it matters. Obviously I cannot invest in leadership toggles like a will brute might be able to. So maybe it does matter
  3. I am very new to role play in online situations. I mostly just banter in character. Part of my character design is knowing the character story and motivations. One reason I am so picky about power sets is it HAS to fit or I junk the character in a day tops. I tend to run a lot of Robots and undead because the storylines make a lot of sense to me in the Cities. Then as I banter I am fully in character. But it is banter. At most I give a rousing speech in character showing off my knowledge of the story and giving an opinion about the AV or the TF etc
  4. My characters always have a full story in my head. I usually type some of this if it fits in the bio Last night I got a pickup team for a Posi 2. I immediately made some snarky comments about needing the dam badge and everyone was happy I did not realize my home comp had grabbed the lesser of my two weight-if and so I got mapserved as I was going through base to faultline. I told the team when I got there sorry comp issues. I got mildly very mildly rebuked for not using parentheses. This is where things got slightly odd. At least it seemed so to me. I explained that I meant my base computer had teleported issues Then I ran the last few missions saying things completely in character. Nothing rude just talking about my past with Cot and how stupid Posi was. My character is a dark brute skull head ex magician with an axe to grind against the villain leadership and so is on Blueside to obtain power. And ER help people yeah. The team made a few comments but it mostly fell flat. So. If you say specifically you are a RO team then people talk about life in the City and their character arc and Okay I am rambling. It just left me confused. Are we grinding or TOing. Good team new. Just left me feeling my efforts were not appreciated. I want applause darned it lol
  5. I need a Dark/Invul build. Not sure if you went traditional or the radical patented global recharge monster. Either way I am interested
  6. Snarky was my global and main back in the day. Any chance I can get the old moniker back? Bueller? Snarky you out there?
  7. Hey folks. I been back two weeks have eight or so toons in the twenties. Tanks Brutes and Sentinels. Now I am digging in. My first new 50 will be an updated version of my first 50. SS/Invul. I will be badging and incarnating him. Arguably Dark is tougher but I really have fun on SS. So... I am going to put more focus on building towards armor than attacks. Suits my play style of wandering in and hitting the most annoying thing I can find Any advice from build makers on I/Os and experienced incarnates on power tree choices would be greatly appreciated. Thanks
  8. I have gotten a few Sentinels to the 29-28 range. Dark/will Ice/will Energy /will but last night I started a Ele/Invul. I am very impressed. At level 17 now. Making sure I get my banks. Probably try to do both Posi Penelope and Synapse today. He might be my unicorn lol
  9. Just started an Ele/Invul Sentinel. Loving how my blue bar gets propped up. Of course I am still low level but will be getting to mid twenties real quick
  10. Yeah Inv is. A great set. I tend to pair it with Dark melee on brutes. The synergy is insane. I am dabbling around with a few Sentinels and really starting to like Ice Willpower. It is a middle of the road damage at best but it is 109% ranged and I enjoy the concept and costume.
  11. Considering all powers and attack chains and leaving out PBaoe and such what are some of the best Primaries. Will probably pair with Will unless Elec makes it in the top might pair that with Invul

    Best ranged AoE

Yeah I have tried Blasters and they do not quite do this because by design the set is custom built for Blapping and you have to hard tweak and mine for anything else. With the Sentinel secondary set independent of range and a set like will that just throws blue energy fuel at you the possibility to set at range not be messed and comfortably blast is enticing I think I will keep trying ice. Are the two target area powers there target capped or is it anything in that area? Thanks for the input
  13. Simply asked. What is the best Primary for a Sentinel who will only be at 40+ range and who wants to concentrate on AoE? And why? Also this will prob work best in teams because I do not see myself soloing large mobs. So do certain AoEs that might be close have an edge in teams like Rad DeBuffs etc

    Ice Energy

I used to try and run ranged back in the day to limited success. Probably my best effort was a Energy Blaster I/Od for defense and lightly incarnated. I could only 50 Blaster and Doms. I tried Ice many times in the past. I do not think I ever ran one long even at 50 So Ice again lol. Any pointers would be helpful. My questions right now are mainly about the AoE in Ice. Does it cover a larger are than a standard ball blast and does it affect more than 10 I think of the Ice powers as shining in mid 30 teams. High level mobs tend to be tougher in every way and you just need pure damage to take them down. Still locking down a Siiper Stunner or Malta end drainer is a good trick. Also if the AoE is an actual area effect without max target then that gives an advantage to this less than loved set. And the tier 9 is ranged which is why I keep trying to make this work. Ice energy will be a completely ranged build. Unlike 98% of the other Blappers and Brutetrollers
