So this is just a "back of the napkin" build that I just came up with. Some of the things I changed was due to my experience with Temporal Manipulation, I don't have a lot with Fire Blast. Some of the changes: Took out End of Time. I never really cared for the power. You have to practically be inside a bad guy to hit him with it. Added Vengeance for another LotG +7.5 recharge. Moved a lot of the slots around. You wanted S/L softcap and I managed that while improving your recharge a bit. If there are any particulars you are curious about I'd be more than happy to share my thought process. A couple of things I don't know though: Is Fire Blast the best attack to take? For Ice Blast, Ice Bolt actually has better DPAm which is why I ask. Flares may be the better power to take. You'd have to ask an experienced Fire Blaster, though. Another thing is you might want to consider switching Apocalypse and Superior Defiant Barrage. You want that Defiant Barrage proc in the power you're using the most. It ends up being really helpful but it won't do you any good if you put it in a power you won't or can't be using much. Just wanted to say thank you to Omega-202. Using your build and hit 50 today. Now it's on to Incarnates and saving for purples. Is there a resource that breaks down the Patron summons? Paragonwiki doesn't, RedTomax is down and Mids is unhelpful. I'm looking at changing from Mu Striker to Widow and want to know what, if anything, that I'm losing.

The Overwhelming Force proc is Damage/Knockback to Knockdown/Chance for Knockdown. Blizzard already has a KD component so putting it in Ice Storm would double your KD.

I played an Ice/Ice/Munitions blaster on live and for HC I remade the character as an Ice/Temp/Munitions so some of the advice I'm going to give will probably be outdated. With that disclaimer in mind here goes: 1) Take Shiver. Seriously take it. It's such a good control power, especially now with crashless nukes. Ice Storm, Blizzard, and Shiver. No one is getting out. 2) Six slot Freeze Ray and slot it as an attack. It's your highest DPA attack. Once you get enough recharge Freeze Ray -> Ice Bolt -> Bitter Ice Blast is your go to attack chain. Use Ice Blast as a finisher so you can keep your main attacks ready. 3) I'm not too wild about six slotting Build Up. 4) I'd slot Blizzard with the Blaster's Wrath set instead of Overwhelming Force and put Overwhelming in Ice Storm instead. That way you'd get twice the KD. That's all I have off the top of my head. I'm sure I'll think of something later. 5) I knew I'd think of something else. Take another hold. Whether it's Bitter Freeze Ray with it's super-long (but super-cool) animation or Freezing Touch (giving you another opportunity to slot Kinetic Combat). That way you can hold bosses.

Instead of making another thread asking for advice on my build I figured I'd just jump in on this one. I made this build this morning and I probably missed a few things. Goals for the build were as follows: 1) soft cap for typed damage 2) perma hasten and energize I was able to accomplish both but having played neither set was wondering if I made a few mistakes along the way. Most notably, not six-slotting Piercing Beam and six-slotting Overcharge to put a -res proc that doesn't do anything for the nuke itself. How I play and slot my Ice/Storm/PM corruptor
Procellus replied to arkieboy72472's topic in Corruptor
I would slot Freeze Ray as an attack not a hold. It's your highest DPA attack and as such should be your lead attack. A better attack chain would be Freeze Ray ---> Ice Bolt ---> Bitter Ice Blast as long as you have the recharge for it. 5 slotting Freeze Ray with the Apocalypse set would work much better, giving you more damage and recharge unless you are specifically chasing the Energy Defense in Basilisk's Gaze. -
Moving an Arachnos to the blue side?
Procellus replied to Reddy Kilowatt's topic in General Discussion
Did you take the 2x exp power from the Pay2Win vendor? That brings the amount of influence you can earn from mobs to 0. -
Speaking as a guy that plays primarily as squishes, if I die it's typically my fault. All I need from a tanker is for him or her to herd the bad guys and maintain the aggro. Tankers make things easier, faster and safer.

I can't believe that all these players that are smarterer and betterer than me keep missing my point. What are the point of Blasters and do their Secondaries help them to fulfill that purpose? It wasn't strictly about the melee attacks. It never was. It was about whether or not Blaster Secondaries helped them fulfill their primary purpose. Melee attacks just seem to take a greater percentage of the available powers in any given set. What are Blasters? "AoE death dealing specialists" I hear. Great! Then why are a supermajority of the the melee attacks single target? Does that make sense for an AoE damage dealer? "Burst damage!" you could reply and I think this is the strongest argument. But I would point out that, from the secondaries, only Build Up really does that and does it every 90 seconds without recharge enhancement and it is a 10 second duration. Great! Sounds bursty! But that's only one power. But the fact that in this thread there are multiple ideas about what the AT is supposed to be, I think, shows that the secondaries are a mess theme-wise and do not add to a cohesive whole. Another thing is that I misspoke. I said "disadvantaged" when I should have said "less advantaged." For a lot of (most?) mobs keeping them at range halves their number of attacks. For an AT with little defense de facto halving the amount of thing being thrown our was is advantageous. If I were to draw a diagram like the one below and ask people, "In which scenario is the Blaster more advantaged?" 😀: Blaster 🤬: Bad guy 😀 --------------->🤬 or 😀🤬 Most people would say the former. That is my point.

This is exactly correct. Citing a few instances where secondaries are super helpful does not negate quixoteprog's and my arguments. The typical method of determining whether or not something was a success is if the intent was met. What is the intent of the blaster secondaries? Support? At best you can only support yourself with a few powers. More damage? Damage that comes at a cost of putting yourself into a range where you give up the main strength of your primary. Citing a couple neat little powers only strengthens my argument as a few stand-outs, that require certain conditions be met, do not mean that that the entire system as a whole is working.

I have to partially disagree, Nemu. Sure, there are good powers in the secondaries and leveraging those powers separates the good from the merely ok blasters. The problem is that secondaries from the other ATs add to a cohesive whole and support the primaries in ways that blaster secondaries do not. The newer secondaries and the sustains do a much better job of it, yes. But secondaries mostly just add another attack, that places you in a range that is disadvantageous, rather than setting the conditions to allow you to attack with greater ease.

I had a similar idea. I'll post my build, which hasn't been tested, once I get home
-
How do I keep the mobs from spreading out by using the taunt1 emote when creating a mission? I'm trying to keep the bad guys from spreading out too far.
-
On live I had an Ice/Ice blaster and he was a lot of fun. For HC I changed him to an Ice/Temporal and I think I enjoy /Temp more. Of course, I play him more as a Controller, shutting down bosses before cleaning up.
-
Earlier in the thread someone said the only thing shards are good for is turning them into threads. Can I get a confirmation? Is this good info?
-
I think an interesting inherent would be to increase the debuff of attacks. Let's be honest, what do Sentinels add to a team? If you say DPS we have plenty of ATs that provide DPS and half of them are more survivable.
-
Just so I understand your position: You think that the damage buffs are too severe because of Melt Armor's new -res and would rather keep the old damage scale and cap because of the -res in Bruising?
-
AR/Dev, or any /Dev, have always been the weirdos of the CoH world. They're like that cousin that quit smoking and won't stop talking about how much better they feel and try to get everyone else to quit smoking too. You know they're right but you're not ready for that yet. That said I just rolled an AR/Dev and it's a lot of fun. I'm struggling to keep from proselytizing
-
On live I my main was an Ice/Ice Blaster. I tried to roll him again but I really wasn't feeling the /Ice secondary and recalled not really using it. /Time seems to have a similar but more interesting theme. Here's the build I'm heading towards. It's close to the softcap and the resists are a bit lacking (this is all without Incarnates, I have a feeling that Incarnate content will do a lot for this build).
