i think, more than anything listed, alternate animations might be the easiest and least invasive of all the changes, since it's basically just an addition... in the sense that Dark Servant from the support set now has two options, all other control pets should have alternate options. and if possible, mastermind pets also. these would only be cosmetic changes by summoning the same pet and attributes, but using a different in game model [again similar to how Dark Servant currently does.] And also adding things like dual pistol's animations to the MM dual pistols, or beam rifle to bot's attacks as alternate animations. again, cosmetic addition only, not an erasure or numbers change. a lot of the other suggested changes seem too specific, and some optimizations would actually reduce a set's uniqueness, which i dont see as a bad thing. there are some good suggestions in here though, and im not knocking them, i just think some need some serious evaulation, and balancing considerations. -
also, port beam rifle animation fx as alternate fx 😛 and dual pistol blast animations for thugs if possible 😮

i would actually prefer if the pools were completed using existing animations, same as the rad sets for example. plenty plenty plenty of existing powers we never see, especially from random npc groups, that would probably fit with the pools. the ncsoft talks arent guaranteed to have positive results. and new art isnt guaranteed ontop of that. i say take advantage of existing assets., then optimization can happen later, if ever.

but what about like: you go to cimerora, everyone wears nice strappy sandals. theres like thousands of them, and you beat the crap out of hundreds of them. why cant i wear basic strappy sandals too? 😛 and theres tons and tons of pieces, the majority, that we will never have because theyre baked onto the signature NPC models. but there are a good number of generic npc pieces we can use that would greatly expand our never again expandable costume creator. xD -
so, i finally caved and downloaded coxg so i could see what it was actually like, having wanted this powerset so badly since before it was even whispered about live and... holy crap whoever did it did a great job. and its really not that bad or vision obscuring. there's like a couple seconds per mob attack cycle, and only if the pet uses its slow recharge power. but its really not that bad, its a quick cast, and its no worry because of the tab target system we have. its not that much more than a mob covered in stone cages or fx heavy AoEs [looking at you fire shields blegh]. overall it feels really epic, and pairs with storm control perfectly. but actually, now i hate that i played it. because they really really got it and its about as good as we can ever expect... so now i might have to finish a character there 😕. [my only gripe is down draft's fx being rooted too low on the target].

thats cool, i do love fire swords in the sets they do appear in 🙂, but i wanted to still make it unique, in the sense of how Darkness assault has 5 ranged attacks and only 2 st melee, but still fits within the theme of assault. They all vary a little bit anyway. and because 'whips' are the 'weapon' of the set already, i didnt want to overload it also with swords that were only semi-fx related. again, to keep the 'hellfire' theme for fx in tact [tangent i hate how coxg added fire sword fx to their water control and new tkpsi/whip assault sets, seems overkill and they still read as 'fire' and out of place for water or psi]. and in the sense you dropped one st ranged, i dropped the st melee in the t2 power. 🙂 but both are great and it'd be cool to see a hellfire/abysmall set regardless. my thought process in making the set was: in addition to the 4 whip related attacks, the demons have a good handfull of hellfire powers to pull from too, to keep the set entirely "hellfire" and in theme: hellfire ST ranged, hellfire breath Cone, hellfire smash ST Melee, hellfire burst PBAOE, hellfire aura pbaoe. plus the standard assault boost attack, and by splitting the whip summon into an actual attack and a summon separately, that's 11 attacks to pull from. i dropped the hellfire ST ranged and the cone bc it was redundant with the whip, which i see as the feature of the set. 🙂 -

yeah, go play with the NPC parts, theres a shitton we dont have access to basically because of an invisible -npc tag in the costume creator. you can load them in the separate Icon Application via Tequila by adding a "-n" in the file locations. i forget where exactly to put it but i just checkd and everything still works fine. you can play with Belladona Vetrano's hair[best in game], cimeroran parts, individual arachnos pieces, and a ton of accessories that, sure make the npc's unique, but would also guve us a ton more options for customization. and no reason they wouldnt work, the costumes can be saved, and then loaded into the game on player models. you only cant leave the tailor with it loaded because it says 'not available for players' but i feel like that's essentially just a switch that can be turned off somewhere, costuming wise. -

oh! no i hadnt seen that, those threads are awesome! and no, i hadnt seen your Infernal Assault, but i like it! I've had mine scribbled down for a while now, and i tried to keep my set purely Hellfire, and not use fire as a stand in for some of the powers fx to avoid overlap with the fire assault set and maintain vfx. the good thing is, that the hellfire demons use separate powers from the fire demons, and by using the fx, but swapping how the power executes, you can make a decent 9 powered hellfire set! 😄 i also based it off existing dominator secondaries to make it comparable and consistent, but still unique [making the living hellfire summons a pbaoe, and turning the whip animation of that power into its own attack]. if anything, it actually borrows more from thorns hehe -

Since apparently its all the rage on other servers, but i'd had this scribbled down for a while. different than theirs, more standard for dominator secondaries. again, made from existing assets and powers, just tweaked a little, and obviously numbers adjusted to be comparable to other similar sets for the AT. via downloading cream soda, and using their manifest. you can test it in their QA server. you can find more on their discord. while i am not a fan of their creative decisions, and placing the control pets into the t1 slot and shifting everything around... they WERE able to do the animations i suggested [for the most part] and implement the a basically done powerset. freaky part is just timing [i suggest, days later they implement], lol but they show how feasible it is. here's a video their player recently posted: again, im not their biggest fan, and im not saying copy them. im saying, look they did a good job but our servers are better, hey lets do this better. and my plan is in the OP.

theres a ton of npc parts that are useable by players. you can see then in Icon by a simple "-n" addition in one of the file locations. forget where exactly but im sure you can find it in the forums. you can play with and use a ton of parts and new combinations, and even save the costumes that will load in game just fine, but the server wont let you use them because theyre tagged as -npc and forces you to fix them. but they DO load just fine and work with powers and everything. its not a model issue. its an "unclicking of that tag" issue somewhere. its totally possible, and im not sure why it hasnt been done already, unlocking the npc creator for all. clipping is not a valid reason, things have always clipped and no reason the players cant decide. and 'taking away from NPC's' isnt a reason, because theres plenty of NPCs with all pieces already available to players, and having more variety to mix and match, ESPECIALLY as we are now playing a game from a bygone age is also not a great reason. everything should be unlocked [costume wise] in the character creator. theres tons of cimeroran parts, armors, sandals, sashes, that theres no reason to limit. now, mind you, it does not include things like snake tails or some arachnos spider-people or coralax things and such, as many NPCs were written as one solid piece, but that's what those costume change halloween powers were for [and should be brought back!]. but perhaps in the future, someone might be able to hack up those solid piece NPC models and make them separate pieces, but im sure thats more complicated. anyway, FREE THE NPC PARTS! im all for it. especially ghose widows hair. [belladonna vetranos from praetoria is the best hair in game IMO.] -
ugh storm is so much fun, and takes a little skill to play correctly. i was comparing powers to similar ones in other sets recently. and if O2 is boosted, then poison's heal should be too. but i guess they make sense as is and are comparable, if still different. gale is fine, and again, should be used pointedly like any cone power. great for forcing enemies into corners. and one slot to make it a KD power, if you want for yourself is no big loss for greater control. its a soft control soft buff soft debuff soft damage set. very well rounded. storm cloud follow would be the only thing, but its basically a patch. i personally probably wouldnt change much, as most sets could be 'better' in one way or another but they they all might just become OP or too easy and too similar. storm is a different kind of set, as mentioned, much like illusion. i have a good handfull of /storm characters, and i see it pretty often out and about xD

yeah, its a great power as is, but a MSR is no place to use it, would definitely be annoying. but there's ways to work around it, you just have to move a little.

im all for adding a pet. not swapping out a power, but adding one more power option to all the sets. but that's a ton of work, and a lot to make it balanced. you cant remove or swap out a power, because youd never get enough people to agree on which power. xD so adding one new power to all sets is the way to go! and also... add more sets xD lol my main suggestion for MM's is alternate character models [obviously visuals only] for sets [as done with the dark servant, and within reason using existing in game npc models, like tsoo for ninjas or banished pantheon for zombies, or CoT demons for demons.] But i dont know how difficult that would be [hopefully not as difficult as i think lol]. -

Only wind was posted so far because mechanically the set is basically done, only missing the right vfx. the set works, ive played it. But yeah, lol, yeah i have several written down cuz im an obsessive freak ;). also, if possible, i think some animations should be proliferated between sets, easy example is dual pistols blast animations ported to MM's 3 dp powers. like, that was a no-brainer. xD but also alternate pet model options [obviously visuals only] for sets [as done with the dark servant, and within reason using existing in game npc models, like tsoo for ninjas or banished pantheon for zombies, or CoT demons for demons.]

so, maybe my post was misread. block of ice and glacier are what is currently coded as the placeholder animations. what i suggest is to the right of it, as a wind like possible replacement. and haunt is a suggested pet because of all the pets in game besides storm elementals [[[which would probably fit better if base colors could be changed to grey/brown to fit the set gonna edit OP with that ty!]]], its the least humanoid and animal like. and changing default color on powers, example of darkness powers listed, from inherent black base to inherent light grey base, would change the tinted color range and look of the pets and powers. and if anything, that'd make it a little grey cloud blob thing and not a black inky ghost thing.
