  1. My Necro/Sonic has pets each named after famous tenors - Caruso, Domingo, Bocelli, etc., with Callas (Lich) presiding over them all. Necro/Dark? Protopunk/glam musicians. And bots/cold: characters from Neuromancer.
  2. You can also use energy drain preemptively for a +def buffer to defense debuffs, Ageless radial for DDR, build changes or inspiration use like @aetherealmentioned, maybe cycle melee hybrid for resistance and regen boost, basically anything other than Overload. That’s basically a delayed death sentence unless you can arrest the spawn before it wears off. In the Tanker sub forum, there is a discussion (with graphs!) identifying the level of extra defense that is usually enough to frustrate cascading defense failure in *most* situations (acknowledging RNG... what’s bitch).
  3. I’d add that the tanker ATOs are a close second. Might of the Tanker opens up so much in build options for resistance and defense set alike, allowing resistance sets more flexibility in slotting for damage and enabling defense sets (*cough* SR) to build for broader levels of survivability. Very elegant design. The other ATs’ ATOs at least don’t work against the respective ATs’ design goals.
  4. Seconded. And Tanker ATOs (like Defender ATOs admired earlier upthread) boost the ATs secondary powers - damage, while providing a proc that complements their primary’s function. Yes! The set bonuses compete with slotting options, forcing presenting a choice between maximizing damage by placing the proc in a more spammable power vs 6-slotting the entire set for the ranged defense bonus. And since the 5-piece bonus is so valuable (10% recharge) AND permadom is so critical for survivability, it’s a hell of choice. What primaries is permadom and the recharge chase less valuable? Ice and (too a lesser extent) electric? Both primaries have the least number of powers that benefit from the boost. And yet they are two primaries with auras that really treasure the mez protection.
  5. Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds - From Her to Eternity (live) [whenever my earth/Sonic controller starts walking...]
  6. On retail, I was recommended to play a broadsword scrapper by the forums when asking for a scrapper’s scrapper, a quintessential feeling of scrapperlock. One of the posters suggested that, “Broadsword is a toolbox, and every tool is a can opener. And the can contains Whoopass." And they were right.
  7. Very creative! And so many uses/possibilities. I think you’ve come up with a good set with many, many uses over a variety of ATs (thinking Healing Flame for boosting both the heal and toxic resistance). Three thumbs up! 👽
  8. Pink Fairies - I Wish I Was A Girl
  9. I have a soft brain spot for necro. They’re my favorite primary. I know they have mediocre damage relative to others, and their AOE... lets not talk about that either. It’s a pacing I enjoy and, at this point, the controls are like second nature. @TheSpiritFoxi really like the director analogy. Sublime summation.
  10. (for @Fire Chief) Siouxsie & the Banshees - Sea Breezes
  11. When clicking on the slotted IO (and holding the button down), press the + key. Each “+” boosts once, up to 5 times.
  12. Agree whole-heartedly with @Force Redux. MMs invite a playstyle in which you’re directing your damage (ie pets) as a way to interact with the game, on top of any support, debuffing, or direct damage from the player itself. It’s a different layer of engagement. This type has more in common with playing a strategic board/war game, while ALSO playing COH in the *usual* way.
  13. Or the fact that *most* people, in any random sample for a poll, aren’t familiar with MMOs or Blizzard’s specific games. Unless you’re referring to a convenience sample solicited from Massively Overpowered. Geez...
  14. To add to your list, reducing the recharge of Liquify would go a long way to making it a legitimately useful power/T9. That said, completely comfortable with your list!
  15. @Soverathanl you for posting this MA experiment. I’ve been fumbling around with one of these the past few days, and struggling with the build requirements. Great insight!
  16. Sleep - Dragonaut (a constant musical reference to remind me to slow the tempo down and not mash buttons)
  17. The road less traveled! With this approach, you’ll have a medium level baseline for resists, assuming you can squeeze in all 3 resist uniques (35% at level 50) and the thermal shields (~22%), or a total of ~57%, and ~82% for lethal/cold/psi. For defense, you cans stack 10% from uniques, and ~10% enhanced shields from each protector bot. Add maneuvers, that’s another ~4% enhanced. Other than your protector bots, who don’t self-cast their shields (at least, last time I checked), you’re pushing ~24%, 39% for AoEs with the unique. This looks fun at your identified difficulty level. When you get to your choice of patron powers, you’ll want to consider a way to keep enemies at range. Mu’s immobilize has a -kB compliant and is targeted (rather than a cone). Bonfire from the fire APP is also a fun choice. If you decide to incarnate this character, Diagmagnetic’s -ToHit debuff will substitute for defense, pushing your pets (except for the Protector Bots) to functional softcap for non-incarnate content. You can also alternate Barrier and Support Core for more layers of defense (and resistance from Barrier). Here are the innate defense and resistance scores for Bots: Robots Battle Drones: 25% Lethal/Cold/Psionic Resist -33% Sleep/Terrorize Duration +4.0 Sleep/Terrorize Protection +1.0 Stun Protection Protector Bots + Assault Bot 26% Lethal/Cold/Psionic Resist -33% Sleep/Terrorize Duration +4.0 Sleep/Terrorize Protection +1.0 Stun Protection Protector Bots will cast Shield on allies, granting +7% AOE/Range/Melee Defense, periodically wears off and must be recast (stacks twice) Even if only using SOs, it’s worth finding slots for all 6 pet uniques. That’s a big challenge for Bots generally. Frankenslotting is definitely the way to go. And with Thermal’s healing, no need to slot the protector bots for healing. If you run Tactics, that plus Supremacy will give you some flexibility in slotting less accuracy. Overall, sounds like a fun pairing!
  18. Or Crey has a division developing technologies to provide reasonable accommodations and enhanced mobility devices?
  19. Masterminds - a rolling wave of overwhelming destruction, for when you want to play like a plague of locusts.
  20. Or for dominator sleeps, flagging a percentage of the duration at the beginning not to break sleep on damage. Honestly, I’d be comfortable with that change across ATs.
  21. Similar to the Defender set (but scarily more attractive), Mastermind’s Superior Mark of Ascendancy gives a 10% recharge bonus at 2 slots. 2 slots!! That model would provide much more flexibility towards slotting a dominator (3 powers, 3 additional slots beyond base). More freedom for procs in powers, more reason to take lesser used control powers, if even to mule the IOs, and more opportunity to experiment with accentuating secondary effects of powers. Basically, anything that reduces the recharge-focused stranglehold of building a dominator is a positive.
  22. Oh geez... I’m getting worried about you now. You should really check out your terms of service/EULA agreement for using any software platform.
  23. This thread is giving so many ideas for new characters: 1. Circle of Thorns inspired City Planner (Step 2) (Earth Controller) 2. Personal liability/property destruction Insurance Adjuster (Mind Control of some type) 3. House Flipper (clearly a SS tank) 4. Hellions Recruiter (fire blaster with extra KB protection) 5. Mobile Dry Cleaner start-up (Water Blast defender) 6. Drivers Ed Teacher (invuln tank) Time to make some (More) costumes... Thanks @Coyotedancer, @EmmySky @Marine X, @Chris24601, and@Omega-202!! Edit: Must confess, I thought this thread was initially going to be about oppositional defiance disorder this morning when I first scrolled through. 😱
  24. True, not in downtown Manhattan. Gotta go to Queens, Brooklyn, or the Bronx. Staten Island doesn’t count...
