I went for maximizing smashing/lethal resistance. I couldn't quite hit the softcap. I have enough +rech that Hasten should be only down for 39s. I guess perma-Hasten is a no go anymore? I tried for it but gave up and shifted to keeping my END situation stable and shooting for resistance for survivability. Currently level 32, so this is a future plan build.

I think you may be giving up too much damage for the resistance plan you have.  

You have 3 purple sets in the build so cost shouldn't be that big a deal.  However, you've used really crappy sets like Tempest purely for the resistance bonus.  

1) Sentinels don't tank.  You don't have the aggro management to consistently hold it.  

2) Sentinels can absorb alpha strikes without bending over backwards to do it.  You may have gone a bit too far here.  

3) Damage scale is a weakness of Sentinels and the build above is an upgrade over a true "pillow fists" attempt but that is purely because Fire is a good set.  

4) Overall slotting is really inefficient due to chasing resistance.  

 

Fire Blast is an utterly craptactular power.  It doesn't deserve Apocalypse.  It probably doesn't deserve to be in your build either.  Defensive Opportunity isn't that great for sustain.  It could have some uses because Fire's offense can suck endurance quickly and Fiery Aura's end management isn't great.  

 

I'd recommend setting a priority of doing damage first.  Look at ways to improve your global recharge so you can focus on the stronger attacks in the Fire set.  Dump crappy powers like Fire Blast and Rain of Fire (though Rain can potentially fit with Fire Cages anyway).  Re-think your idea to skip Aim and how it interacts with Inferno for spiking damage.  

Reconsider taking Char, you shouldn't need a hold, and contemplate either Cremate for damage or Char for damage with procs.  You don't need Fly and Superspeed, but if those are conceptual go for it.  

 

Not using at least 5 slots in Blaze seems almost criminal as Apocalypse would be so much better there.  The Sentinel ATO sets are good for their bonuses but their proc effects are largely garbage.  You can easily put those sets in lower priority powers.  You can also get creative with their placement, but the way things currently are is a bit of a mess.

I had a build previous that had 145% recharge (which I'm guessing is the cap), you'd advise going back in that direction and prioritizing global damage boosts as my other focus. Dump fireblast and char, and if I dump rain of fire (bc I do agree its kinda trash, and its really annoying to cast) probably dump Fire Cages? Go for Aim and Cremate. What are your thoughts on Burn?

 

I'll play around with another build and maybe if you don't mind having a look. I feel like I used to really understand this stuff, but it's been so long lol.

That's a lot better for damage.  I'd suggest giving it a try on the test server when you can to make sure it checks all the boxes you're looking for.  It may feel a bit squishier than what you had.  However, enemies should fall a good bit faster.  

Also, you're a bit stacked on melee and taking Cremate.  Burn could be a choice if you're mixing things up in melee.  Hell, even Cross Punch is good.  You've got lots of options.  I tend to get in moments where I revisit my builds and change things every few months.  So never be afraid to experiment and tweak it later.

Alright, so I see you using the Impervious Skin set multiple times, and the unique multiple times, possibly in an attempt to get the regen bonus multiple times? Well don't the regen bonus doesn't stack. The status effect resistance does stack, if you're building for pvp or something I guess. Otherwise you're just thirsty for recharge? If you dropped one of those and put the slot in Fire Cages, you could have gotten 10% recharge from the Ragnarok set. 4-slot Reactive armor and eek out some more defense. Or 4-slot Unbreakable Guard for 1.56% to S/L instead of 1.25% to S/L/E/N. Do you. Same thing goes for 6-slotting Sentinel's Ward. Now you have more defenses and more recharge.

 

You five slotted the Gaussian set, skipping the 6-slot bonus and getting 2.5% defense to all for some reason?

 

You have 4-slotted LotG several times for the 9% accuracy, 3 sets with 15% accuracy, and a Kismet for 6% To-Hit. Are you planning on exemping down a lot? That is just overkill levels of accuracy if you aren't. If you're looking for slots, look at those first.

 

You never once used Steadfast and Gladiator's Armor for their total 6% defense boost.

 

You have Invisibility active, artificially inflating your defenses.

Interesting points, I wasn't sure about the choice for impervious skin. I'll look over the build again with all this in mind.

Performance Shifter should be able to. You might be thinking of Power Transfer, which has some weirdness with its "only proc once" mechanic

If anyone is looking for advice on builds for fire/fire/fire, I built this build as best I could at level 32, bought attuned IOs for the slots I have (just used regular IOs for the slots that would be purple or Architype Os because money). Prior to the change I'd solo'd from 1-32 on -1x1, now I'm absolutely melting things at level 40 on +1x2, and thinking of going up to x3 or x4. I never drop or run out of end unless I'm distracted. Highly recommend. My only need is to keep the odd anti-mes inspiration on hand. Thanks everyone for your help on this toon.

This is a tweaked version of an older Fire/Fire/Fire build that was here.  It soft-caps (basically) Melee def, which is probably more useful that pushing the 75% S/L/F res.

See if it gives you some ideas.  Also note that a lot of people end-game will skip fire breath and fire blast.

I made one of these as my first sentinel way back when and was always surprised by how bad it isn't considering its not softcapped to anything, doesnt have great resistance, no perma hasten, underslotted burn and nuke and yet...it survives. And it was cheap, only slotted the 2 AT sets. Probably be better with fighting pool but i prefer the team friendly leadership and i like to have lots of accuracy. When the damage is this puny even assault helps. Looks terrible, plays well, lots of fun:
