Dice it fine, crisp it on a pan, mix it through mashed potatoes.

food shortage had caused people to resort to eating clay

Clay has been eaten for thousands of years.  Or, it has by several animal species.  The minerals supplement their diets.  At least one species of monkey has been seen and filmed eating charcoal and/or charred wood to aid digestion and ease stomach ailments.

Get busy living... or get busy dying.  That's goddamn right.

And don't forget the things that were "fillers" in bread and the like in the middle ages (and up... there's a reason we have things like the FDA.) Sawdust, plaster...

Sauté the Spam/Treat/whatever in a skillet.  Flip, sauté the other side and remove when both sides are slightly crispy.  Lightly caramelize some rough-diced white or yellow onion in the same skillet.  When the onion is nearly finished, push it to the side and fry up a few eggs, over easy.

Serve the eggs over the Spam/Treat/whatever, top with the caramelized onion.  Season to taste.  I recommend going light on the salt, the canned meat is already going to be pretty salty.  The caramelized onion will counter that with sweetness, both flavors complement the egg.

You just ruined a perfectly good onion and some innocent eggs. 😝

Taker of screenshots. Player of creepy Oranbegans and Rularuu bird-things.

SPAM is *not* food. <_<

Loved it as a kid, but then, we also used to make white break, sugar & butter sandwiches at the school cafeteria.  How we ever made it through afternoon class, I'll never know.  I've avoided SPAM in my older years due to medical concerns.  As long as they don't come to take the scrapple too, then I'm fine.
