TaxibotJoe
Seems to be a thematically good pairing. Might not be a top tier combo, but that’s ok, I’m far from being a top tier player. Anyone tried this out? What did you like (or dislike)? If you think this game is too easy, run AE 801.* missions!
ZorkNemesis
I have one hovering at 30. Mastermind in general isn't my thing but this is one of the few combos I've given a decent chance. From what I've seen it's pretty solid, good damage and debuffs. Flash Arrow is a must, I find I have to replace the wolves a lot less often if I blind everything before sending the pack in. Glue helps keep things from fleeing, your pack is 95% melee so keeping mobs in place is a huge help. There's a lot of setup with all the debuffs so fights might be slow. There's also some good proc potential if you yourself want to deal damage. I need to play a bit more for some extra numbers. Need the level 32 pet upgrade for starters. You also can't light the oil slick naturally with this combo. You'll need the Apprentice Charm or a Fire/Energy based epic. 1 Currently playing on Indomitable as @Zork Nemesis; was a Protector native on live. Crysis
I dunno, I played a Demons/TA on Live and it sucked. Then I rebuilt it on HC and it sucked less but still wasn’t fun. Then they buffed /TA and so I played it again....and stopped at 44. It’s just a very underperforming set even with the buffs, at least relative to all other options you have available. I ended up using Redlynnes Ninja/Time build just so I could enable a bow with my concept theme. Fully procced out the Ninja bow attacks are decent. And at least that set felt fun relative to the slog that was /TA for me.
MisterSlanky
I have a 22 Beast/TA MM and I'd say it's merely "OK" (I had both a mercs/traps and thugs/dark on live). The synergy isn't awful; flash helps survivability, glue, net, and ice arrows keeps everything in melee range. I do find myself replacing pets fairly often though, which frankly is fine due to the changes on Homecoming in regards to recharge. If you're looking for bots or demons with time or kin you'll be sorely disappointed, but I've found it fun enough.
SmalltalkJava
The new TA changes rule. It's pretty fun now. I have been experimenting with beasts TA on the test server. Yes your pets die without a heal but the TA is cool. I will post the build I was testing with when I can get to my computer. Just understand it's not refined. The_Warpact
I had one and there's alot of micromanagement, honestly I deleted, too much trying to keep up. I'd go Cold or Kin with the pups instead https://www.twitch.tv/boomie373 The Revenants twitch channel, come watch us face plant, talk smack, and attempt to be world class villains. SmalltalkJava
What I like about it is that it is a relaxing play. I like the non aggro blind that gives everyone in the group a defense buff automatically. And with the recent changes people seem to appreciate it more than they used to. Ignited Oil slick is cool also. I also like the shield gtaoe changes. It has tons of tools. Oh and you can proc monster the single hold. Here is the build that I'm experimenting with on the test server. It has bonfire to suppliment TA. I'm on a new bonfire kick the last couple weeks. I don't know what they were thinking giving Bonfire to MM's. Anyways, I do have a Bests/TA that is level 50 on everlasting and he just runs IO's so far. I haven't done an actual build with that toon yet. I find that it is pretty relaxing play style when your in a group. Oh you can use the Taser Dart to light the oil slick. I have this macro on my live character to light it up, on the off chance it doesn't light. /bind T "+$$targetcustomnext Oil Slick$$powexecname Taser Dart" the test build... plainguy
This is a Petless Demon (whip)/Trick Arrow Mastermind. I am also doing 8/4 on it against COTs and Council. The the to hit debuffs of Trick Arrow is almost putting many defenses at defense cap or very darn close to defense cap. The good thing is Trick Arrow also has a Damage Debuff as well. So if you do get hit, you are getting hit for less. With full pets you are also dealing with Supremacy so reduced damage taken is further spread out against the pets. You can't get rid of Maneuvers, Tactics or Weave ( with Weave you are stuck with tough and kick or boxing, so 3 powers slotted to get Weave ).. You could get rid of Super Speed. Getting rid of hasten will hurt your Oil Slick with a 20 second recharge from 60 to 80 seconds and EMP arrow gets crushed on recharge and goes from 150 to 233 second recharge. So Combat Jump seems to be the only power you could TRY to remove and make up the difference you loose in IO sets.. Pick up Provoke. Then remove EG Crosspunch for a pet. Summon Swarm for Summon Wolves, Call hawk for Summon Lions. I would skip Fortify Pack.. and pick up the 2 pet upgrades. I would try to keep call raven as it is a cone aoe with a - Defense debuff on mobs as well. But you have several -Defense Debuffs from Oil Slick and Acid arrow that give mobs just about a -33% defense debuff. Further you have several - RES debuffs as well. Then if you had room for Fortify pack pick it up. My whole thought process around this is if I can solo 4/8 on Petless with these defenses due to To Hit Debuffs and damage debuffs. If you can some how keep the same number and provoke the Mobs onto you as if you were petless and solo then the debuffs doled out will also help your pets as many of the debuffs are AOE types.. Which in turn would keep them alive. So your going Tankermind with the Provoke. Wish you can get rid of entangle arrow instead of Glue arrow, but you can't You could stay with Mu Mastery but was thinking Dark for Oppressive Gloom for the enemy Stun. It works well on my Robot Traps Mastermind. Just another mitigation tool. Again the gist is Whips Trick Arrow defense numbers with Mastermind pets.. plainguy
This is what I am running ATM.. I am feeling there is room for improvement but ATM I am just not seeing it. My head isn't wrapped around the build. But I am doing 8/3 on it.. Oil Slick I wish the recharge on Oil Slick would be a bit faster. Just slotting Damage and Recharge specific IO only shaves a few seconds off Oil Slick so not gain. I would have to look to add more recharge IO sets bonuses and at the same time try to keep the defenses up. Fortify Pack I also wish Fortify Pack Recharge were a bit faster as it is the only pet heal and it is noticeable when activated. I try to hold off on Fortify to sort of have it going from the middle of the fight of one group to the start of another group. Power Boost does what it says it does. Seems very useful. SmalltalkJava
@plainguy that's a nice looking build. that ranged Def is nice! Seems like it would be fun. If your worried about your defenses, just do a quick test against a +3/8 Boss and see what its to-hit is after you tap it with Flash Arrow. I use +3 Bosses to simulate the level shift effects. (not sure if its valid idea or not). If its at 5% then your golden, as far as I can think of. My Beast/TA has 38.13 S/L defense and against +3/8 Bosses in the Peregrine Island Portal mission gets these kinds of to-hit chances before and then after popping them with Flash Arrow that has a single 50+5 Boosted Dark Watchers Despair: To Hit Debuff slotted. Without Flash Arrow 53 Boss without Flash Arrow: [02:07] Council Empire Archon MISSES! Thunder Kick power had a 22.06% chance to hit, but rolled a 86.62. 53 LT without Flash Arrow: [02:07] Council Empire Adjutant MISSES! Crane Kick power had a 19.52% chance to hit, but rolled a 99.08. 53 Minion with Flash Arrow: [02:07] Council Empire Rocket MISSES! Missile Launcher power had a 16.20% chance to hit, but rolled a 50.82. With Flash Arrow 53 Boss with Flash Arrow: [09:55] Council Empire Archon MISSES! Missile Launcher power had a 8.87% chance to hit, but rolled a 48.86. 53 LT with Flash Arrow: [09:55] Council Empire Adjutant MISSES! Grenade Launcher power had a 7.85% chance to hit, but rolled a 38.05. 53 Minion with Flash Arrow: [09:55] Council Empire Rocket MISSES! Brawl power had a 6.50% chance to hit, but rolled a 89.87. Example against level 50 mobs, sorry no minions. 50 Boss without Flash Arrow: [11:56] Zeus Class Titan MISSES! Gas Swarm Missiles power had a 18.51% chance to hit, but rolled a 41.62. 50 Boss with Flash Arrow: [11:55] Zeus Class Titan MISSES! Swarm Missile power had a 7.80% chance to hit, but rolled a 39.84. At the bottom of this post is what I finally settled on and I'm running now on live. I went back and forth between dropping Poison Gas Arrow and picking up Combat Jumping for a few extra Defense points to S/L. But after experimenting, I noticed better overall performance from myself and the pets with using Poison Gas Arrow. The Damage redux made some difference. At least it "feels" like it did. I never actually did damage received checks to validate the before and after effects of PGA. Additionally, with liberal use of Flash Arrow, my Defense seems to be manageable vs +3x8 Bosses. I'm thinking about Swapping Call Hawk to use 5 Sighon Insights for some more S/L Defense. Right now as slotted I see this on average. One Proc going off is about 80% of the damage of the actual skill itself. 57.5 Hawk Damage and 46.63 from Gladiator's Javelin Damage, Hawk damage portion does about 11 more damage per cast than the 1 proc. So dropping a portion of the overall Hawk Damage and and the Force Feedback proc may be worth it for the extra defense. I like Ice Arrow with some Procs in it. You get to see stuff like this Spoiler [09:25] HIT Council Empire Archon! Your Ice Arrow power had a 95.00% chance to hit, you rolled a 40.48. [09:25] You Hold Council Empire Archon with your Ice Arrow. [09:25] You hit Council Empire Archon with your Impeded Swiftness: Chance for Smashing Damage for 46.63 points of Smashing damage. [09:25] You hit Council Empire Archon with your Gladiator's Net: Chance for Lethal Damage for 46.63 points of Lethal damage. [09:25] You hit Council Empire Archon with your Unbreakable Constraint: Chance for Smashing Damage for 69.6 points of Smashing damage. [09:25] You hit Council Empire Archon with your Ghost Widow's Embrace: Chance for Psionic Damage for 46.63 points of Psionic damage. [09:25] Ice Arrow is still recharging. --------------- [09:24] HIT Council Empire Archon! Your Ice Arrow power had a 95.00% chance to hit, you rolled a 17.27. [09:24] You Hold Council Empire Archon with your Ice Arrow. [09:24] You hit Council Empire Archon with your Impeded Swiftness: Chance for Smashing Damage for 46.63 points of Smashing damage. [09:24] You hit Council Empire Archon with your Gladiator's Net: Chance for Lethal Damage for 46.63 points of Lethal damage. [09:24] You hit Council Empire Archon with your Unbreakable Constraint: Chance for Smashing Damage for 69.6 points of Smashing damage. [09:24] You hit Council Empire Archon with your Ghost Widow's Embrace: Chance for Psionic Damage for 46.63 points of Psionic damage. Call Hawk Example. I think swapping the slotting to use 5 Siphons Insights for some more S/L might be worth it. Spoiler [09:25] HIT Council Empire Archon! Your Call Hawk power had a 95.00% chance to hit, you rolled a 43.45. [09:25] You hit Council Empire Archon with your Gladiator's Javelin: Chance for Toxic Damage for 46.63 points of Toxic damage. [09:25] You hit Council Empire Archon with your Call Hawk for 11.5 points of Lethal damage over time. [09:25] You hit Council Empire Archon with your Call Hawk for 11.5 points of Lethal damage over time. [09:25] You hit Council Empire Archon with your Call Hawk for 11.5 points of Lethal damage over time. [09:25] You hit Council Empire Archon with your Call Hawk for 11.5 points of Lethal damage over time. [09:24] You hit Council Empire Archon with your Call Hawk for 13.74 points of Lethal damage over time. Ps. I may have found a bug with the Acid Arrow -Res(special). I'm not sure its actually working or not. My current live build. - I do need to swap out Explosive Strike in Call Hawks to Apocolypse chance for neg damage proc. I just haven't done it yet on live. Crysis
Have they fixed EMP arrow in /TA yet? It flat out was broken when I played this right after the "buffs" to /Trick Arrow, but I think the buffs actually broke EMP arrow for MM's, Trollers and Corr's (not sure about Defenders). No still broken.. Only gives the buff nothing else.. even the Proc doesn't work.. That will be a game changer when it is fixed..
