MORE TANKS

Not gonna lie, I want to try a /Psi tank now.  I wanted to try Bio with TW but I might just reconsider.

I'll also note that even though it's a set filled with cones, TW has really not been popular in the suggestions here.

Or maybe Shield/Psi...   hmmm...

Current implementation of Insight is frustrating so be aware of that. I might sit my Psi/dark brute until that gets reworked. Same for anything Savage as Hemo needs to be worth taking.

Recently rolled a Shield/stj and Rad/kat which I am both enjoying.

Top 10 Most Fun 50s.

1. Without Mercy: Claws/ea Scrapper. 2. Outsmart: Fort 3. Sneakers: Stj/ea Stalker. 4. Emma Strange: Ill/dark Controller. 5. Project Next: Ice/stone Brute. 6. Waterpark: Water/temp Blaster. 6. Mighty Matt: Rad/bio Brute. 7. Without Hesitation: Claws/sr Scrapper. 8. Within Reach: Axe/stone Brute. 9. Without Pause: Claws/wp Brute.  10. Chasing Fireworks: Fire/time Controller.

Well, since you expressed interest in both, I hastily threw together a couple of builds for both Bio and Shield Psi tankers. There's a whole mess of people who have been making builds longer than me that could probably make these far better, but I figured you could use each of the below on the test server as a baseline to see which one you enjoyed more in actual play, and go from there on making your own build.  Feel free to add/replace powers as you'd rather for each 😄

Disclaimer: I build my tanks to survive first, damage second, and I don't take taunt, like... ever. Probably because I don't have the patience to deal with teammates as a tank, and I make damn sure I can solo what I want to instead. I set these at 1 enemy in range, no teammates as a result. Also, remember that this is single stack of tanker resist proc, so add 6.7% to final resistances as it should be easy to double stack that for higher resists.

(sorry guys, I tried to use spoiler tags, stunk it up badly, and just gave up)

Frustrating as in useless so just ignore it like I do with sentinels' inherent?

The thing is, I don't really play Sents partly because of it. I have one at 42. I dusted them off some time ago and realize just how many other builds I would rather play. I'll play my Psi Brute on the casual, but I think that's about it.

Also, down to the last mission in Hollows with my Shield/stj. Soled everything outside of FF, but did that with a co-op mission completion. Atta is an absolute slog. Never doing that again.

Seconding the Fire/Ice suggestion. Hands down the most fun I have tanking, if a bit on the squishy side. Ice Patch helps.

Also seconding Shield/Elec. Single target is meh but the AoEs are beefy. I've seen it compared to a battleship broadside every ~35-40 seconds or so. I slot mine very unconventionally with 5x sets of Power Transfer for a constant stream of heals and hefty recharge set bonii at the end.

Rad/most things is also good; Rad/ has some very good tools.

I rolled a Bio/Psi and did not go for the cheesy name opportunity.

I will also roll a Dark/Dark,  I wanted to combo dark armor with something else to capitalise on the effects but I don't know what,  And Dark/Dark seems to play so well together.

I will roll a Shield/Something for sure, just don't know what yet.

And Titan Weapon wasn't really popular in the choices so I think I might keep it for Scrapper or Brute.

And Titan Weapon wasn't really popular in the choices so I think I might keep it for Scrapper or Brute.

Dark/Dark is dope, and it does synergize well (also Dark melee is just a pretty solid melee set on it's own).  D/D though doesnt really utilize OG very well, CoF is the CC aura that synergizes best with dark melee (ToF will stack fear on the target to keep bosses shivering plus more -toHit).  CoF is an end hog though in a end heavy armor set.

So, you may want to try out a melee set that compliments Oppressive Gloom's disorient.  I'm thinking Dark Armor/Energy Melee would keep not just all minions punch drunk, but should stack and take LTs out of the fight with power crash and then the ST damage is obviously stellar and every ST attack has disorient so bosses will be staggering around too.

I'm looking into options. I have a level 49 EM/EA Scrapper and while I loved the ride, I'm still hard press to 50 her because I find Energy Melee becomes achore when there's too many targets around, and I even commited the worst sin in the EM book: I took power crash so I could have that one cone (and I never looked back, great power).

I think I could manage an end-hungry character, It's just another kind of challenge.

I will roll a Shield/Something for sure, just don't know what yet.

SD/SM. Seriously. great Defense, pretty decent DDR, +HP, AAO. You take both Fault/Tremor/ShieldCharge and proc with KB->KD and FF: recharge and you're constantly knocking things on their ass while saturating your damage with AAO. And you have mallets and seismic smash.

I... really like that idea.

I mean REALLY.

I need to do that tonight.

It works great. People slept on stone melee in the past thinking it was end heavy, but it's not as bad as people told me before I made mind, and with IO's you can get around almost any end usage issue. I have an Incarnate IO'd one that I themed as a Volcano God named Vulcanus that is erupting upon enemies quite often.

Similar vibes from mine. I won't argue the build being good, but I'm not sure how much I play it past getting to 50.

Top 10 Most Fun 50s.

1. Without Mercy: Claws/ea Scrapper. 2. Outsmart: Fort 3. Sneakers: Stj/ea Stalker. 4. Emma Strange: Ill/dark Controller. 5. Project Next: Ice/stone Brute. 6. Waterpark: Water/temp Blaster. 6. Mighty Matt: Rad/bio Brute. 7. Without Hesitation: Claws/sr Scrapper. 8. Within Reach: Axe/stone Brute. 9. Without Pause: Claws/wp Brute.  10. Chasing Fireworks: Fire/time Controller.

Just one thing: looking at the numbers, all I see is KB, KB, KB.  Isn't that ridiculously counter productive as a tank? Hard to AoE what you keep golf-clubbing away from you.

You'll just need to proc those abilities with the KD > KD IO. Yeah, it can suck that it takes up a slot, but it  saves you some headaches in the long run. Some full sets include this proc, like the one you get from SBB. Overwhelming Force I believe is the name of the set?

All of those powers show 0.6x KB in Mids, suggesting they all do knockdown, not knockback.

I'd have to login and check after work, but I know I have the FF procs in all the aoes. I can't remember if I put the kb to kd ones in, as I've made like 15 or so toons since. Sadly my PC is shutdown at home so I can't remote in and look at my mids build for it either.

Force Feedback only cares that the power have a KB value. KB values under 1 do knockdown instead of knockback.

Yeah I'm well aware of that, but now you have me worried that I may have slotted a kb to kd in a power that didn't need it. I do a lot of hard mode character building when I'm drinking. So I'm going to check the build when I get home.

Mkay. My SD/Stone and my Bio/Psi are rolled, costumed and concepted.

Now i need a concept for my Dark Dark and i will post this here.

How the heck do you take a good screenshot in this game?  The camera moves around the character but never on a vertical axis so the picture angle is always wonky.
