Fire Fire FIRE project

Recommended Posts

I started a Fire^3 Blaster.  From those that know me you know how far outside my comfort zone this is

I am NOT going ranged and ranged defense for one.  My current MiDs build has negligible defenses and chases damage and a bit of accuracy recharge and bigger End pool

The other oddness I am doing is pitting in Rain (situatonal i know)

any tips are appreciated

Big brain thinking: put Ragnarok or Avalanche (I think that's the right sets) chance for KD in Burn.

I completely PROCd burn and one other power (at work now….graverobbing) but I forget which one.   Then threw on Winters a purp set etc.  It is damage focused build

Char in the epic is perfect for procs.  Load it up with damage procs (Should take 5 including a purple from unbreakable) and it's fast cast time will have it's DPA exceeding your snipe .  Take bonfire for the synergy with rain of fire as well.  Make sure when you do proc out a power you still have enough accuracy for higher level enemies, it's not a given like it is with normal builds.

I did all that and have a Kismet +ACC and Leadership tactics.  Then in both powers With 5 procs (char and burn i think) I have a Hami Acc/Dam 53

Here is the half baked build I am currently on.  This is looking for to be changed.  I am new to this playstyle.  I am pretty sure the Theft of Essence PROC is useless where it is.  I am playing with powers to see what I like and what works.  Just starting to play the sets.

It had never occurred to me to throw the Theft proc in Cauterizing Aura. Does that work?

I went with melee defence, being a pure blapper, using the invisibility pool. Also gave me extra spots for LoTGs.

Great fun.  I'm sure you will enjoy immensely.

Took a peak and my defs are sitting at 34 R 30 M and 28 AoE. And it seems it did occur to me to throw a Theft in CA so hopefully it works.

I'm not a fire/fire/fire either it seems lol.  I took Force so I could have Repulsion Field and slap a Force Feedback Chance for Recharge and a Sudden Acceleration Kb to Kd in there. Oh the shame of it all.   Works pretty well...still die a lot but thats ok.

Just so you know your build is not much different to mine and i have capped Ranged Def and S/L resists.

Fire dosn't need a huge amount of end. I didn't chase it as much.

A lot of builds are done and look good on paper, but how do they actually play? I've always wondered.

So I'm going to take on this challenge. Going to create a new character based on someone else's build and test it out at various levels to see how good it is.

Plan is to PL to 50 and slot as indicated by a posted Mids build. Then, I'll PuG it up at various level ranges: teens, 20s, 30s, 40s and 50+ to see how it works in game.

I'm going to go with your build, Chelsea as it looks to be the cheaper of the two posted here. It's close to Snarky's original, so I think it's a fair assessment of both along with just testing the Triple Fire concept. Is it as badass as it sounds?

I'll probably record some of the play and post to YouTube at a later date.

Before I get too far into it, do either of you have your Incarnate selections? I didnt see any in the Mids builds, so wasn't sure if you'd taken them that far or not.

Thanks for the inspiration!

I still have not played this a ton.  Also, I have been on very few "bad" (read PUG) teams.  Running with Cosmic Council is incredibly smooth on even a bad toon.

But yes, I have run enough Blasters to respect Fire^3.  This thing puts out hate, in overly generous greasy spoon diner portions.  With dessert sides and crackers.  Free refills.

Feel free to swap out the Rectified Reticle +perception in Tactics.  I don't know if it does anything worth it in PvP but in PvE Tactics alone is more than sufficient to counter Blind effects from Arachnos and others, see Banes, KoA etc..  I'd drop something in there -> endred, to hit/end or to hit IO more useful.

EDIT:  Player base perception is 500ft.  Smoke from foes like Widows is -90%, Tactics (at 50th) is +86.5%

I'll be interested to view your findings.

Incarnates-

alpha - Musuclature radial paragon

interface - Degenerative core flawless interface

destiny - Barrier core epiphany

judgement - Ion core final judgement

hybrid - Assault radial embodiment

Lore - demons core superior ally

I leveled it to 50 and had a lot of fun doing it.

As a side project this is doing okay.  I have Tier 4d all Incarnates:

Alpha: Musculature Total Core

Interface: Reactive Radial Flawless

Judgement: Pyronic Core Final

Destiny: Rebirth Core (with plans for Incan, Barrier, and Clarion)

Lore: Banished Pantheon Core

Hybrid: Assault Core

All damage enhancing Incarnates were chosen with an eye to outputting more pure Fire damage.  Not saying it is the most efficient, but that was the design choice. Any chances to do more Fire damage were taken over PROC for energy, smash, or any other effects.

I run this as a second string I Trial Blaster right now since he is not Accoladed out and the build is rough.  My most interesting challenge on him this week was me and two other Blasters from my SG ran a 50 +4/x8 Night Ward story arc.  There were deaths lol.  But we literally had zero strategy and did alright.  We were on Discord and laughing and talking about strategy.  Then we would Leroy Jenkins the mobs.  80% of the time it worked 100%.

The Theft of Essence is a garbage idea.  I had some great builders who were shocked I could even get it on the build lol.  The damage aura on Cauterizing has to do a to hit check to even activate the chance, and I am in 8 ft radius as little as possible, I have no melee attacks.  So it never PROCs.

Here is what I am respccing it into today.  Again, this will no doubt be revised more than once in the future.  Sigh.  But it is at least a bit better than my first attempt.

I appreciate the incarnate information. You two went pretty opposite directions here. I was torn who to follow, so I decided to split the difference:

I'm going with Chelsea on Alpha and Hybrid.

I'm going with Snarky on Interface, Judgement and Destiny.

I'm planning to diverge from both and pick up Nemesis for Lore.

My overall reasons were to get as much Fire as I could... Judgement pyronic, Interface reactive, and the Lore warhulk boss.

Given the amount of defense in Chelsea's build (the one I'm following) I don't see much need for even more defense with Barrier, so I liked Snarky taking Rebirth for the heal and HP max.

I like the radial option for Musculature that Chelsea took as boosting Immob and Def Debuff don't help much or at all in Core, but radial gives End Mod and Run Spd boosts on top of those, which are always useful

I like the 2x hit option with Assault hybrid more than the dmg boost of Core. I think that gives a lot more upfront punch.

Just so you know your build is not much different to mine and i have capped Ranged Def and S/L resists.

Fire dosn't need a huge amount of end. I didn't chase it as much.

Triple Fire Intro

Thoughts and questions welcome.

Look Ma i'm on teh youtubes !

I watched your vid and agree mostly with you.

Combustion - I'd love to take it but that power only takes melee AoE sets (obliteration etc)  which would mean a drop in ranged def

Fly is there to hover tank early on something you can't do with some of the P2W travel powers.

EndRex in there just to lower end consumption a bit more.

I spend most of my time on the ground.. It has enough defence to not have hover on all the time but is there if the extra def is needed.

But early on can hover tank with fly with a few blues.

Sprint and hover can make you not end stable.

The Numina +Recov does fire and even if it did have a to hit check the build has 65% Acc Bonus.

Brawl/sprint etc totaly dealers choice.

Weave Totaly agree with you.. but the red fortune is the difference between soft cap and not soft capped.the dmg and rech bonus are also good.

Bonfire.. wish i could get a Rech in but hey ho.

I'm sure i've teamed with you on Excelsior 🙂

Have Fun

Updated mine abit.

Ran my Triple Fire for the first time last night in actual mission game play. Joined a PuG running Black Scorpion's patron unlock arc from the beginning (no speed run).

Team was Carnelian Flare (Fire / Fire / Fire blaster) = me (lvl 50, all powers fully slotted, NO incarnates)

- Illusion / Dark / Fire controller (team lead)

- FF / Beam / ? Defender

Mission was level 50 @ +1 x4

Here's the video. I review my first impressions at the end, although I have running commentary throughout. I reference my Intro Vid a few time (posted above).

Look Ma i'm on teh youtubes !

I watched your vid and agree mostly with you.

Combustion - I'd love to take it but that power only takes melee AoE sets (obliteration etc)  which would mean a drop in ranged def

Three Eradications (all the ones with Acc) and the first three Cleaving Blows.
+1.56% Ranged
+0.63% Ranged

Have Fun

I really missed Hover during my 30s run tonight. But otherwise, the build was excellent - no End issues, plenty of attacks, tons of damage, high survivability vs +4s most of the time. It really felt planned out for mid-level challenge. I think swapping Hover for Fly as an earlier pick would be my move if building from scratch.

Potential problems:

  • Noticeable amount of whiffing versus higher levels.
  • Lack of 3rd Defiance attack when mezzed.
  • No hard control.

I tested the Numina +regen/+Recov and it does hit and when it does it remains active for 2 minutes regardless if there in a npc close by.

It does reset when leaving a mission or zoning.

I'm keeping it because of the heal and +Recovery.

What I noticed was it didn't activate passively. Only when I stood in a group of enemies and dealt them damage did mine fire.

I'm going to test again to confirm. I'll record results and post.
