DevonXavier2006 Posted July 20, 2022 Posted July 20, 2022 With the new Symphony Control, having instruments as a 'backpack' item would be great, for those of us not using the Sheathed Weapons :3 1 1
biostem Posted July 20, 2022 Posted July 20, 2022 While I agree in general, my only concern would be having to create the models and/or trying to adapt ones that may already exist within the game. Also, if we won't actually be able to utilize them, it might be a weird break from things...

Also, if we won't actually be able to utilize them, it might be a weird break from things... Nah. It could still be used by any character even if the instruments themselves aren't used as part of any sonic attacks. The lone cowboy with his guitar, the wandering ronin with his flute, fue, or other instrument, and so forth serve as a good basis. Even musically inclined supers that want to be able to play while waiting for the next crime (to prevent or commit) might have a carried instrument to while away the time. My only concern with this suggestion is the need for models. Edit: And yes, I know a fue is a type, or sub-class, of flute. I'm not being redundant, I'm mixing western and eastern. Rudra Posted July 20, 2022 Posted July 20, 2022 If properly designed, it is both music instrument and blowgun. Go for it!
DoctorDitko Posted September 2, 2022 Posted September 2, 2022 Ideally, I'd like to see alternate power animations that include instruments. But backpacks would be a great start! (And doubtless easier to implement.) ;thumbsup 1 Disclaimer: Not a medical doctor. Do not take medical advice from Doctor Ditko. Also, not a physicist. Best thing ever, no. But better than nothing. I always thought it would be good to have more musical instrument emotes other than just the drums. I don't really count the air guitar. Instruments I would like to see for backpacks would be the larger instruments, Guitar, acoustic Guitar, electric Bass, electric Saxophone Trumpet Marching band style drum Boom box Zither Harp Don't have time to think of more at the moment, have to run ... These are generally rather small compared to the other instruments and, therefore, not as noticable. I would rather that we start with the ones that are more obvious when they are slung on the back. 12 hours ago, Rudra said: That was the point of my comment you quoted. Some people just want costume parts that look cool, and to them it really doesn't have anything to do with actual RP'ing. It's just a costume part. 12 hours ago, Rudra said: That was the part of the comment you quoted but left off. You had already posted which parts you thought you would like to see. Greycat Posted September 3, 2022 Posted September 3, 2022 Honestly, if we could get them as costume parts (backpacks,) I'd also want to see them as base items - there are enough bars/homes/apartments and such that could use them. Then maybe NPCs playing them and emotes using them, later. Kheldian Lore and Backstory Guide 2.0: HC edition Out to EAT : A look at Epic ATs - what is, could have been, and never was Want 20 merits? Rudra Posted September 3, 2022 Posted September 3, 2022 The fues I was thinking of are 14 inches long and 18 inches long respectively. And they can't simply be broken down the same way some flutes can be.

Most flutes (modernish) end up *around* two feet long just because of the range they play in and how they work, which is why modern flutes (and quite a few modern traditional ones) are designed to break apart. Or are you thinking of something like the (end-blown, but generally still called a flute) shakuhachi or nokan? (And as much as I want these in game, mostly as base items, something for NPCs to play and something that can be turned into a player emote, I can't picture these being carried on the back... as someone who's been a flutist since the 70s/early 80s, with a small break.) Rudra Posted September 4, 2022 Posted September 4, 2022 (edited) I'm talking about a fue. A traditional bamboo flute. (Edit: A kagurabue is the longest fue at almost 18 inches long.) Edit again: I had previously read about one that was over 3 feet long and was a single piece. I can't find it any more though. Edited September 4, 2022 by Rudra
