Badges: puzzled why teams never seem to go for these ones

I don't know your comment was oozing with such a large amount of condescension I was just curious as to what you deemed outside the realm of "mind-numbingly boring".

Sometimes what you read into someone else's post says more about you than them.  You seem awfully defensive about what *I* consider boring, which doesn't make a lot of sense seeing as how we both agree such things are subjective.

But since you asked, I prefer a little variety.  I like it when things get mixed up.  Even when they go a little wrong.  Gives you something to work for.   Also why I only sometimes join level 50+ teams and often quit after only a few missions.  Dull as dirt just facerolling over everything, really.

I know, right?  They must not be familiar with the old saying, "When you judge someone, you don't define them.  You define yourself."

Originally on Infinity.  I have Ironblade on every shard.  -  My only AE arc:  The Origin of Mark IV  (ID 48002)

Link to the story of Toggle Man, since I keep having to track down my original post.

ZemX's comment was rather ambiguous.  You inferred they were referring to one of your specific playstyles.  That's on you.  Of course different playstyles are boring to different people.  You're starting an argument without a basis for doing so.

Nothing about their comment was either ambiguous or requiring inference, "Most people are boring.  PI radios are boring....it won't stop surprising me what absolutely mind-numbingly boring ways people seem to like to play this game.", like gee I wonder if people who play PI radios could at all interpret this as negative commentary!

If I were to say people who choose white as the color of their car are boring, I don't get to complain that they're "starting an argument" when they call me out for making an obvious condescending judgment of their choices, because my comment was clearly implying they are boring for choosing white and I am more interesting for choosing any other color.

I mean when that involves literally reading the text you wrote and taking objection to it, surprise surprise people might voice opposition. I don't think there's really any nuance to that.

Yes I enjoy running PI radios for a multitude of reasons (they can test the limits of a build, identify gaps in res/def by enemy group, a satisfying way separate from farming to get inf/xp, represents a core aspect of the game, etc.). If you said "PI radios aren't for me", I would take no objection, because I would get that. But when you launch into a diatribe and use a broad brush to backhandedly say people who enjoy this content are boring, and go into heavy emphasis on just how "mind-numbingly boring" you find their actions, like of course someone is going to say something.

Get over it.  If you think something I am doing is boring and that constantly doing only that makes me a boring player, that's your opinion.  You're entitled to it.  As I am entitled to mine.  Yes, I think people who do nothing but the easiest, grindiest, dullest content in this game, avoiding variety... are boring.   If you enjoy it, then you shouldn't need to care what I think.

Or you could try and tell me what I am missing.  Or not.  Doesn't matter to me.  I like what I like and you like what you like.  That's as it should be.  Neither of us need be offended by the others' preferences for gameplay.

Seems you're a tad bit heated at this too, judging by this post.

But I think I get it. Like you said you're both entitled to your opinion but this post still comes off as hostile. Oh well, par the course for this little community.

I'm still interested to see where you're getting this variety of gameplay from, as I'm burnt out and could use some. And before ya say it, yes I've done everything in CoH/V/Rogue at least once. Could use something besides HM or iTrials(I'm sorry, BAF on repeat since the others aren't run as often on Excel.)

Tone is difficult to convey in writing if one is not a professional writer.  You are reading hostility where none is written.  Even back when I said "people are boring" I meant it as more of a wise-crack than a deadly insult, but people read into it what they want, I guess.  Some "git gud" adrenaline junky from Dark Souls-land who came in here would probably think we were ALL terribly boring for playing this easy old game.  Wouldn't mean much to me.

What I said exactly was "a little variety".  All things are relative.  From an outside perspective, I'd still be running a series of door missions with a small variety of enemies maybe.  But it'd be more variety than someone insisting on only doing Council missions in PI radios and avoiding caves.  As annoying as caves are they are at least different than the same warehouse with slightly different layouts ten times in a row.  And then toss in a bank mission every now and then.  Why not?  Because it might inconvenience the team if they run into an AV?  Roll with it.  Or if you can't do it.  Move on.

At the end of the day it's just a little spice added to a bland gameplay loop if we're all being honest about this.  Beyond this, I try to avoid being in too many 54+ teams because they are so powerful, nothing anyone does matters.  That's even more dull.  We could be eight people soloing for all that it matters.  I also don't play ONLY this game, so that helps too.

Hey it's water under the bridge, because again this doesn't really matter. I only chimed in because your words were a little more targeted than cracking wise, and I wanted to defend my playstyle lol. Not trying to prove anyone wrong or right, for all the boring elements this game does indeed have, it more than makes up for it in droves elsewhere (hence why we're all here!)

Where my OG "Looking for Missing Fortune Teller" Spelunkers at?

That was a very in demand mission back when they weren't repeatable through Ouroboros and were level locked. Everyone was escorting that habitually kidnapped mystic who had a knack for making me hate cave maps so that they could get the Atlas Medallion back in Issue 2 (or maybe 3?)

That was also back when endurance consumption was a real challenge - no inherent Fitness pool, no IO set bonuses, and toggles were mutually exclusive - in fact, now that you've read this far let me go ahead and talk about the evolution of time-investment based rewards which were a product of the economic strategy of MMOs at the time... oh what was this thread about again?

As I understand it, it's beetles that are boring.

Well, at least you didn't say the grasshoppers were boring.  Reserved, yes, but interesting.
