Homage to Cyclops from the X-Men

Ok i saw a character named Cruel Summers.  What would be some power options ??  Now he had Rad/Energy blaster.

I don't know about a sen. I could see him more as a SJ/WP Scrapper with the Energy Epic. Scott ony has one ranged attack.

If you want to be completely faithful to his powers and abilities, I would say MA/WP/Body Scrapper with Laser Beam Eyes.   Other than the eye blast, he's just a dude that is trained to fight and works out a lot, right?  But obviously LBE wouldn't be the primary source of his power in this combo as it is in the comics so it would be pretty unsatisfying to play probably.

 

If you're willing to go to hand blasts as a proxy for the eye beam then I'd say Energy/Martial.

That does make more sense. But I wouldn't want to wait til the 30s for the signature blast. The only early eye beam is from Rad, right? Guess if you wanted it early, you'd grab just that, then work through the fighting pool? That would sorta suck from a play perspective though.

 

Speaking of, as someone who often skips Epics, save for anything that grants me Acc, End, the occassional DR, is there any reason why we have to wait so long to access them? Are they that much better than anything else? Any reason some of them couldn't be ancillary pools from the get go?

I like Psi Blast for Cyclops/eye blasting folks; pairing the head-centric animations with an Eyes-Combat Only aura works pretty well.

To clarify, Scott uses beam attacks a lot. The difference is in if he is wearing his shades or not. He does normal blasts with them, and essentially a nuke level blast without them. He should also be required to take numerous powers from the Leadership pool as he's the definitive leader of X-Men outside of Xavier.

Sooooo, assuming my new toon, Spolcyc, were to, um, slightly resemble a certain leader of a group of young mutant super beings under the tutelage of, say, a bald dude with bitchin’ mental powers, how would I best make this work? (Ahem) Hypothetically, of course. I’m thinking I absolutely need:

 

-eye blastage of some kind

- leadership 

- some form of martial combat skill of the kicky and/or punchy variety. 
-a crippling fixation on a woman who will eventually turn into a mad, cosmic entity. (Optional):-)

X-Ray eyes from Atomic ... Blaster?
It could do with proliferating as an alternate animation, but hey, I think most animations should be proliferated prolifically.

Scott has also been portrayed as having eye gear that allows a dialed strength setting to his optical blast.  That's something that, last I knew, we simply couldn't duplicate in the game.

One could always create a character that was an amalgamation of the three Summers brothers.  I believe Gabriel radiates the energy from his hands.

A lot depends upon how close or far you are willing to stray from the source character.  For instance, you could roll a radiation blast/willpower sentinel, and really only use a recolored x-ray beam as your main ranged attack.  Then dip into fighting and other pool powers to flesh the character out, (leadership seems like a natural fit, and powers like combat jumping could fit with the more "peak human physicality" of Cyclops).

hmmm.. i guess i just dont know where i want to go with this character, i guess i could just  use the one attack.  Kind of like making a character that only uses brawl.

No need to, though - use x-ray beam as your ranged attack, then rely on boxing, kick, cross punch, and maybe air superiority or even jump kick or some others to fill out an attack chain.  Cyclops was quite the capable hand to hand combatant, after all...
