Nerio72 Posted December 7 Posted December 7 I did and it still says that I can bypass it and still use the old one

I followed the steps in the guide. Any help would be great, thanks. There are 3 reasons for mods not working. 1.) You pointed the mod installer at the wrong COH Install, verify the path in HCLauncher under the gear icon matches the path in settings in the mod launcher 2.) You pointed the mod installer into a subdirectory of your COH Install, see 1. 3.) You forgot to "Add to Launcher -> HCLauncher" with HCLauncher closed. If you've done all 3 of these, and mods arn't working, click Tools, then Upload Support Bundle and enter your forum username, then reply to this letting me know you've done so. You can also try adding the "Corrupted Mod DO NOT DOWNLOAD" mod, and see if it crashes your game, if so mods are loading correctly and further troubleshooting will need to be done.
Nerio72 Posted December 7 Posted December 7 It updated but I had to go in and close all the programs related to The COH Modder with Process Explorer

Hi, I did all of those, the mods show up in the correct directory, /assets/mods I can see gifts on the map, not sure if that's from the game itself or from maps_winter mod. I did see some badges in Ouro, but not in the Tutorial blue side, or in atlas park and kings way. I did test the corrupted mod and it did infact crash the game on load. Is it because not all the map mods I have can work together? I submitted the Support Bundle. Thanks,

Thanks, When you installed the halloween maps, the winter maps, and the optimal path mods this dialog: Came up saying that these 2 mods conflict. The Halloween maps, the winter maps, and the optimal paths maps all override the base Vidiot maps mod. The descriptions of these mods also mentions this. 1

Ahh ok, Ill remove the others and only use videomaps then, thanks. I also didn't get that dialogue box when installing them all. EDIT: Removed the winter and Halloween mods and it works now. Guess Ill have to use the maps I want based on what I'm trying to do. Thanks again for the help. Edited December 7 by zer0ish
AboveTheChemist Posted Thursday at 02:54 PM Posted Thursday at 02:54 PM (edited) Hey Michiyo, after a couple of folks poked me about some confusion regarding my mod instructions, I noticed a odd quirk with the editor on the City Mod site and thought I would post here to give other modders a potential heads up. If I go to, for example, my BadgeSetList popmenu (https://mods.cityofheroes.dev/mod/11), in the usage instructions are a couple of lines that contain variables in angled brackets, like: If I click the Edit button, the mod description editor deletes out the stuff in angled brackets, like so: Then if you save/submit, the text in angled brackets does not reappear. It's nothing major, and I'll just have to remember to add that stuff back in where appropriate, unless there is an easy fix for it. It's something other modders might want to check for, though. You can grab the application here: https://mods.cityofheroes.dev End users do not need to register on the site to download mods, just download the installer from the link on the page, unzip it somewhere, launch it and point it at your City of Heroes install. (By default it will look in C:\Games\Homecoming, as this is the default location that HC installs to. If you've installed City elsewhere then just select that folder). If it finds an existing "data" folder it will prompt you to rename that folder, otherwise your new mods may not work correctly. Make sure you click Add to Launcher -> HC Launcher (or Tequila) depending on whichever you use. My tool uses a different method than previous tools. Other installers put loose files in the data directory which the client uses to override. Mine uses packaged data files that the client natively reads, but requires a change to your launcher. The "Add to Launcher" option automates that, or you can just add -assetpath assets\mods To your custom launch parameters. In Tequila that's here: And in HC Launcher that's here: Currently the program is not digitally signed, so when you first run it (and after any updates to the program) you will have to allow the application to run if you have Windows Smart Screen enabled, code signing certs are expensive, and are difficult to get approved for, depending on how popular the tool gets I will try to get a code signing cert to stop the annoying dialog when you run it. If you see the below popup when running the CityModInstaller program click the "More Info" link then click "Run Anyway" Currently all of AboveTheChemist's mods are available, as well as my old enhancement standardization pack from live (I still need to update it for HC...). Mod authors will need to sign up for an account on the mod site linked above, where they will then be able to upload their mods to the site. The program has a utility built in to assist in packaging your mod into a .pigg for uploading to the site. The website is VERY early in development, and will be updated ASAP to get full functionality available to creators, but I wanted to get this out into folks hands now. shit did not work. nuff said. time wasted. maps are now useless. thanks. really. 1

Yes, I've got your support bundle. Can you explain what *exactly* isn't working? You still have an entire Vidiotmaps install in "C:\Games\Homecoming\data\" this directory can be either deleted, or renamed you have no other files other than Vidiots in there so it's safe, you also don't have any mod files installed via the Mod Installer, the assets\mods directory is totally empty, and the mod installer lists 0 mods as attempting to install. As long as your CoH HC Install is in "C:\Games\Homecoming", which you can verify by clicking the settings gear in HC Launcher, and verifying the path here: Then all of the setup should be correct. So, recommendations: go to C:\Games\Homecoming\, delete / rename the data directory, then find Vidiotmaps in the installable mod list, you can filter this down to JUST Maps with the "Category" dropdown, select "Vidiot Maps for Homecoming" and click Install V, wait until you see: "Attempting to download file: hc_vidiotmaps.pigg hc_vidiotmaps.pigg Installed" You already have the asset path set correctly, so at that point you should be able to just launch the game, and see the new version of Vidiots. If you want to install any of the special packs like the Winter Gift Maps, you can install that with normal Vidiots still installed you'll get a warning that there are conflicts, you can click "Yes" and then when you're done using that you can just uninstall it. NOW IF, The install location from the above screenshot is NOT C:\Games\Homecoming, in the Mod Installer then you'll need to click Settings top left, click the folder icon next to the install path, browse to the correct install location, select it, hit "Select Folder", Click "OK" on the "You must restart the program" dialog, click apply, then close / re open the mod installer, and then follow the mod installation steps above.

City Council Michiyo Posted yesterday at 12:10 AM Author City Council Posted yesterday at 12:10 AM If you've installed both the WInter Gift maps AND Vidiots, you'll always see the WInter Gift maps in zones with a map. Once you're done with the Winter Gift maps, you'll want to uninstall it and leave Vidiots installed. The 2 mods modify the same files, and the one loaded last (based on the name) always is the one that is used. 1

Yeah, this is a complaint I've had with TInyMCE for a while, when I'm feeling better I'm going to try pushing a new editor to https://beta.mods.cityofheroes.dev likely in a few days.
